Filmfare Best Film

Hi! it looks like awards for "best films" were given only from 1963, ten years after Filmfare Awards. I have updated the best films (Tamil) page. --Commander (Ping Me) 08:56, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

The book which I have with me lists all awards from their inception till 2004. Though it doesn't specifically mention about when the award was given first, it lists Filmfare Awards form 1963 till 2004. "Filmfare Awards" (Bollywood) were given from 1954, but before 1980 awards for "south Indian films" and bollywood films were presented at the same ceremony. No separate event for "Filmfare Awards South" was organised. They were held in Bombay and not in either Chennai or Hyderabad like we have now. Looks like only after 1980s a separate ceremony was organised for South Awards. Here 58th Filmfare Awards refers to "Filmfare Awards". These photos could give you some idea. Also check this, here Singeetham Srinivasa Rao states that, he went to Bombay to collect his Filmfare Award for Dikkatra Parvathi, a Tamil film in 1974. --Commander (Ping Me) 06:53, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

Image Help

Hi Johannes003, awhile back you had an issue with an image over at the article on the movie Goa. You reduced the size, but had forgotten to add a fair use rationale for each article it appears on. I've gone ahead and added it for you here [1]. I notice you've got quite a few image notifications on your page, so if you have any questions or trouble with an image, let me know here or on my talk page and I'll do my best to give you a hand. Thanks!--Crossmr (talk) 13:59, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

58th Filmfare Awards South

You are too fast! I will also be filling up the table today. Also have a look at the newly created page for Cinema Express Awards. --Commander (Ping Me) 16:50, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

IMO cinema express awards are definitely notable if someone says vijay awards are notable. Those awards are presented by a reputed media for the past 30 years. Also we have a page for edison awards and what makes that one a notable award. However, I agree that finding the winners is going to be very difficult. Commander (Ping Me) 17:51, 2 July 2011 (UTC)
I got that idea from Filmfare Awards. These two awards cannot find a position in the superlatives table, as there are a large number of people who have won 4 or more awards. --Commander (Ping Me) 10:26, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
I don't have any problem if you remove that. But other awards like cinematography, choreogrpahy, art direction aren't regular like Playback singing. I also included Award for Best Music Direction, but removed that since it was already there in the table. --Commander (Ping Me) 10:49, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

180 (film)

I have added Telugu tracklist 180 (film), and so collapsed the tracklist as it feels good. Is it ok?? Karthik Nadar (talk) 13:57, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Re:Karthi

Sry abt rv everything. I'll edit the p.life section. And btw, if you think that that information is not important, nor are the others. Instead you can jus say, "After being engaged to xxx on yyy they got married on zzz at XXX. What abt all that nonsense "the wedding was arranged by the elders of the family" do you give a damn abt who arranged it? Kindly understand what it means. There's nothing wrong in mentioning notable people who attended it. Secret of success (Talk) 20:38 June 4th 2011 (UTC)

That was my point. What was the need for mentioning all the 750 unimportant people? only the notable ones need mention. Each and every celebrity's wedding will have imp. people visiting so we have to mention the list here. Behindwoods would have definitely mentioned it if other imp. people from the film industry had attended it. This list is hardly a few names. Secret of success (Talk) 20:56 June 4th 2011 (UTC)
Behindwoods is an accurate website. How on earth could have 750 people from the industry (those whose names are mentioned in wiki pages) have attended it without the website catching their faces? These are the only imp. people and their names alone should be mentioned. You can remove that 3500 fans thing. I don care. Secret of success (Talk) 21:10 June 4th 2011 (UTC)
You tell me what's wrong in including Trivia? The whole of the article comprise of just trivia relevant to the topic in different sections and this is no different. It just highlights the importance of the people who attended it. Secret of success (Talk) 21:19 June 4th 2011 (UTC)

Thats not what i meant by 'trivia'. I meant true facts and not unimportant ones. I have certainly read all these guidelines. And how do you expect me to add this to their respective pages?? Do you want me to say 'xxx attended Karthi's wedding'??? Why don't you mention if they are eating or sleeping right now??? Thats why its relevant to add it to Karthi's page. Secret of success (talk) 21:40 4th June 2011 (UTC)

All right, I get your point. But I dont completely agree. Take a launch of a film. Many people attend it including fans and celebrities. Does that mean that they should not be mentioned? The director the producer the cast crew other celebrities etc etc all highlight the importance of the launch. The marriage is no different. Like Mani Ratnam attending audio launch of Maaveran and Vijay's dad attending Vettaikaaran launch. They are mentioned in the page. Secret of success (Talk) 21:57 June 4th 2011.
Oh well, I enjoyed this discussion. One more thing, could you help me tackle this User:Niranjaniyengar guy? He is making idiotic edits and asks me to go on with original research in my talk page. Move

Hi, can you move all those "Filmfare Awards South" subpages. I tried but still a lot are left. This dash ("–") has to be there in the title. Thanks. --Commander (Ping Me) 15:55, 9 July 2011 (UTC)

Confusion

Hi, according to this Arjun got a Filmfare Best Actor Award for Gentleman in 1992. But the film was released in 1993. Kamal got the award in 1992 and in 1993 Karthik was the winner. --Commander (Ping Me) 06:58, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Ya I think they copy stuff from Wikipedia. Before a month it was tough to find the winners of Filmfare Awards South, but now it's prevalent in these kind of sites. Also some Telugu websites claim that NTR won 11 filmfare awards. I'm amazed! --Commander (Ping Me) 11:09, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Opinion

I recently came across this page, a GA. After seeing this, I go an idea to bring any Kollywood actor's page to GA status. I feel Karthi's page has a significant scope and will be much easier to promote it since he has done only a few films. Waiting for your opinion. --Commander (Ping Me) 13:47, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

I removed the awards from filmography table as it looked cluttered. The "early life" and "personal life" sections were too small. That's why I merged both. Try expanding the early life section before moving off the stuff to personal life. Also the lead has to be expanded. --Commander (Ping Me) 16:24, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Filmfare again

I wasn't much sure about the Filmfare award winners that I updated for the years from 1982 to 1988 since that was a different book. But after having a look at these photos I think the updations which were made must be correct. In 1983, the winners and the ones standing on the stage (photos) are the same. --Commander (Ping Me) 05:43, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

Revathy's website is fine but what about Nagma's site. I don't think that's her official site. --Commander (Ping Me) 09:05, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
Also do you know anyother personal websites of Tamil actors, directors or even production companies. They might list out the awards they had won. It will be much useful, just like in the case of Revathy. --Commander (Ping Me) 10:07, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

Karthi

Hi, since there were a heated argument about Karthi's personal life, I just thought of asking a word before posting the info about his honeymoon in Austria as per this link. It is fully about Karthi and is unlikely to be considered as trivia. Plz state your views. Thanks! Secret of success (talk) 14:31, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

DT edits:Release section

Hi, please have a proper look into the links before you post them. The original link posted for the no. of screens stated that the movie released across 400-500 screens across India. However, the link you provided states that the movie released in 250 screens in TN and 50 in North India. Are TN and North India the only regions where the movie got released? Apparently not. So, 300 does not mean entire India. So, I am replacing the original link for now. If you have any objections, please discuss it in my talk page and do not change the link till the discussion is over. Cheers! Secret of success (talk) 07:31, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

Re:Musicperk and DTM

Do you really think that musicperk is a third grade site?? Of course not. It is maintained by professional critics and unless you can give sufficient proof that it is a blog or any user related site, there is no reason to remove it from here. And about the no. of screens, how does a link whether being updated or outdated matter for this issue? Do you think theaters would have initially agreed to screen it and later backed out due to some reason. That is very unlikely and that too the change of numbers from 400-300 is also not possible. It is UTV, one of India's top distributors not some unnotable distribution company that will distribute it to no more than 300 screens. Plz understand my point. Regards. Secret of success (talk) 10:51, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

The updated link is improper. It states that the movie was released in 250 screens in Tamil Nadu and 50 in North India. In the link, 'rest of india' means only north and TN. The person who wrote it has mentioned it in that way. Why does the earlier link state that the movie was releasing in 400 screens?? It has not mentioned it as a speculation or a rumour. Kindly do not complicate this issue. Secret of success (talk) 11:23, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
All right, lets say that the link is proper. Then do you mean to say that in Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra the movie is lickin dirt?! There is a telugu dubbed version which was also released with a lot of hype and definitely the movie is releasing in Kerala and Karnataka as most of the Tamil movies do. Secret of success (talk) 15:51, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

Vijay Music Awards and BIG Tamil Entertainment Awards

Thank you for your review of my page. I don't think i have provided any wrong informaton about both the awards and I am sure that the award winners list is complete and correct.Ihave provided at least 3 different links to ensure that.

  • Vijay Music Awards: As for this, it is a accolade given by Vijay TV. It was considerd a grand event and has surely received recognition just like Vijay Awards and will continue in forthcoming years.

Regarding Big FM Tamil Entertainment Awards the next year ceremony is a question mark as you said but i created the page only for this year with complete winners list

FF nominations

Hmm you're right! But I don't think they listed out the nominees for 1998 and 1999. If they'd listed out nominees for Telugu films, definitely they would've listed out for Tamil films. --Commander (Ping Me) 14:49, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Yes, since there have been nominees in Telugu section, there must have been nominees in Tamil section too. But I have no idea how to find out. Johannes003 (talk) 15:18, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Dont Delete the Discography

A complete discography is definitely necessary for a composers page. And their is a proper work behind it, it done properly with out any error. If u find any error in the discography u can help us in correcting it. But certainly there isn't any error in it. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Growtreesgrowtrees (talkcontribs) 10:29, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Okay

Thanks for ur concern.Growtreesgrowtrees (talk) 13:07, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

When u removed the entire discography from the page, i really thought u are cared about the page looking too long. But now i understood u are just acting too smart here. Who the hell made a rule a composer shouldn't have a separate page for discography with the entire song list included. If u are not aware of any such song lists then please refer to some pages of artists like Westlife, Dave Matthews, etc.. U cant just undo any data from Wikipedia just coz u don't like it. Look into some singers pages like the pages of Tanvi Shah. If u are really in constructive mind stop undoing stuffs without any proper reason. U just blabber saying does other music composers have such list. What the hell do u think. DO u have a rule any such like that. Even then every other composers have a separate page for Discography. Every international artists have a discography page showing their entire song list. Come on, i don't really get what your real intention rests by undoing this. Growtreesgrowtrees (talk) 15:17, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Comeon I don't find any sense with what u say. First of all u don't know the difference between whats Filmography and whats Discography. U keep on changing the Discography to Filmography. A Filmography is done by a director and a Discography is done by a composer. No one can add such a big list to Ilaiyaraaja sirs page. But let me drive your attention that here we aren't editing Ilaiyaraaja's Wikipedia page. Here we are creating a discography for a composer who have done less than 200 tracks. And you reasoned for the existence of song list in westlife only coz they have made only a handful of songs. Yup here we are making a song list for a composer who have made only a handful of songs. Don't just say I copied the entire things from the respective movie pages. Ofcourse I have referred to the movie pages, if u do a keen research on them you can find that I have edited lots of errors in the discography which are still unaltered in the respective film pages. A song list in the respective movies can never be a substitute for this dedicated discography. Specific things can be brought up only in this way. Tell me the number of tracks Harris Jayaraj composed for the movie "Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein" only 6 songs in the album where the tracks of Harris Jayaraj. Some extra tracks from another Bollywood composer was added in the album which are also listen in the movie page. We cant delete those tracks from the movie page coz those tracks are still in the album. But they aren't done by Harris Jayaraj. A song named "Intha ooru" is listed in the movie page of "Thotti Jaya". "Intha ooru" wasnt composed by Harris Jayaraj. But we cant delete them from the respective movie pages as that song is still in the album, and it doesn't just end here. And I was really terrified reading your lines "Westlife and all the other international artists have only that one page where everything is listed. In case, Harris, all songs are already added in all the respective film article pages." You are terribly out of your mind, international artists have one page that lists every songs, but remember there are also pages for every albums they do and these album pages too have the song listings in them. So now are u gona call all these discography pages as redundant. Are u gona say that people who added song listings in these pages are arrogant fanatics who just did it to promote their favorite artist? Are u gonna say these song listing's available in the discography pages of international artists are a trash and nobody on the earth needs them? Let me end this. If u really wanna remove this discography section from the page of Music Composer Harris Jayaraj, then remove the song listings in the pages of every possible artists where songs are listed and come back here. I am on my process to add more needed details to the discography section. Growtreesgrowtrees (talk) 16:41, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Re: Shruthi Haasan

The fact was published by Directorate of Film Festivals. I agree that the dob and her education info isn't true since they don't concentrate more on that. The fact may not be known to many people. Also there is no mention in the same website that Kamal Haasan won a best child artist for Kalathur Kannamma. But many newspapers report that. It was a time when no awards were presented to best actors and actresses. But the 1992 page of the same website says that he won the President's gold medal for acting in Kalathur Kannamma. Coming to Shruthi, it's clearly given that she along with Tarun and baby Shamili shared the award. However there is no mention that she is the daughter of Kamal Haasan. Have you seen the title credits of Anjali. We may have to discuss this with others. Anyway thanks for pointing out. --Commander (Ping Me) 14:30, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

Harris top mark scorer

Hey regarding the line "Harris Jayaraj pursed his graduation from the Trinity College of Music, London where he excelled as the first Indian to be the top mark scorer of Asia." Unfortunately there is no citing available for this line. But u need not doubt it as a wrong info. Myself being a student of Musee musicals where he studied, i have even asked our teachers there about it and they too have conformed that he was the first person from India to achieve that honor. And I have also seen Harris telling about it in detail in a religious magazine. U can also check this video from 6:12 http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=IN&v=hf6GBnGMB2I . Its a great achievement by an Indian, I really think removing this info is like we our self not exposing our proud achievements. Any way i am still searching for sources. I think atleast after watching this video u should add that line. U can remove the words "First Indian" if u wish. I am not gonna undo your edit. Expecting a good response from you. Filmfare again

The awards were presented to Tamil and Telugu films from 1954 onwards. They were extended to Malayalam and Kannada films in 1967 and 1970 respectively. I guess that might be true because they wouldn't have organised an award ceremony for giving awards to "Best Films" alone in just two languages. They might have stopped the "Best Actor" and "Best Actress" categories somewhere in between 1965 and 1970 and again continued giving that in 1972. --Commander (Ping Me) 09:31, 23 October 2011 (UTC)

Velayudham

The source "cinema.currentweek" is not an RS but check this out. Supergoodmovies is somewhat all right for south Indian films, on the league of Behindwoods and Indiaglitz. If you think the source is fine, please add it to the article. It is also unlikely that the producers will make an announcement of the figures. Secret of success Talk to me 14:00, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

Well, if it managed to gross 40 crore in five days, I wouldn't be surprised if it crossed the 100c mark next month. But if you have anything specifically against sgm.com, then please put it forward. Secret of success Talk to me 13:09, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
Well, even I feel bad about using such sites, but the point is South Indian films do not have many credible sources and if we question each and every source which is not notable, we cannot have articles for even successful Tamil films. While reviewing Ponnar Shankar, the reviewer felt that Behindwoods was an unreliable site but was later convinced about its reliability. When I came to Wikipedia, like everyone else I thought that it would be a child's play to get the statistics, but as you can see, I was wrong. If you still feel they should not be used, I have no problem. You are more experienced than me and I'm sure there will be many editors who wish to stop usage of those sites, so I will go by the consensus. Do what you think is right, and that is all I can say. Secret of success Talk to me 04:23, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
Well, I used the same thoughts for Bollywood films, but I found that they said "We have to use the resources possible" (some experienced editors). I don't want to pinpoint the editors, but I suggest we continue the use of Behindwoods and stop usage of other sites like sgm, if that is the only way. I'm sorry for unnecessarily disturbing you, hope this brings the discussion to an end. Secret of success Talk to me 12:49, 19 November 2011 (UTC)

Well, I just went across the discussion btw U and Secret of Success. Firstly I will semi-protect the article and will start working as per your discussions by maximum tomorrow. Thanks and Regards. -- Karthik Nadar (talk) 18:31, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

Thank you. That statement from Vijay is enough to wash away all the other nonsense. I really didn't find any supernatural powers exhibited by his character in the film, but the people (locals) personify him as their god, so there's nothing more to it. Velayudham

Uh...Hi. The statement that the film is a "superhero" movie does seem absurd. But numerous reliable sources i.e. [4], [5], [6] seem to be saying so. The definition of the term doesn't seem precise, so I suggest we go by the verifiability policy. What do you think? Secret of success Talk to me 18:28, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

We must go acc to sources as per WP:OR. Thanks and Regards. -- Karthik Nadar (talk) 18:34, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi

Hi Johannes . Need an info on the edit you just made in Velayudham. The Movie is a "Huge Commercial Success" , why was the word 'huge' removed. Just curious -SubashChandran007 ׀ sign! 14:26, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
