Help Request edit

{{helpme}} Please help me to create a disambiguation page for Jonathan Hay. There are two living person biography articles including the same name; both Jonathan Hay and Jonathan Hay. Thank you in advance.--Jklein212 (talk) 01:17, 7 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

OK, I will take a look at that, and see what the best way to do it is. I will write more here soon.
Also - I see you've been on Wikipedia for a while, but had a break; therefore I hope you won't be too offended by my 'welcome' below, which might be useful. As far as I can tell, you've never been properly welcomed.
More soon, Cheers,  Chzz  ►  01:22, 7 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Well, thank you very much for the kind welcome. I find Wikipedia very useful but also very confusing at times so I very much appreciate talking to a real person who is willing to help! --Jklein212 (talk) 01:27, 7 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Also, I'm not sure if you can see this or not, but I've moved "Jonathan Hay" to "Jonathan Hay (Australian rules footballer)" to create room for a disambiguation page. But I was unsure of how to clean up the original article and create the disambiguation page. So for now, both the "Jonathan Hay" and "Jonathan Hay (Australian rules footballer) contain the same article. I hope this makes sense.--Jklein212 (talk) 01:33, 7 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Welcome edit

Hi, Jklein212. This is NOT some automated message...it's from a real person. You can talk to me right now. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started. If you have any questions, please talk to us. The tips below should help you to get started. Best of luck!  Chzz  ►  01:22, 7 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

ようこそ
  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
  • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!

AfD nomination of Jonathan Hay (publicist) edit

I have nominated Jonathan Hay (publicist), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jonathan Hay (publicist). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message.  Chzz  ►  02:43, 7 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Concerning the Reverts edit

I assure you it was in good faith. In my haste I most likely mistook it for vandalism. I am a human, and I am fallible. Sorry! LikeHolyWater (talk) 05:47, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes! I will do so ASAP. Thanks, LikeHolyWater (talk) 05:50, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Links, re. IRC edit

Hi,

Regarding your questions about Lucy Diamonds - I thought it might be useful if I added those links we discussed here, so that you have easy access to them.

Note regarding your articles and edits edit

I am reviewed your history in conjunction with the current AfD. Your first attempt at self-publicity in Dec 2008 was deleted. Then you tried to move an article on Jonathan Hay to Jonathan Hay (footballer) to try to use it for yourself. Then you yourself created your article as Jonathan Hay (songwriter) so your comment about how it shouldn't have been moved to that title is quite interesting since you put it there yourself previously. Your entire record here at Wikipedia is as a single-purpose account editing articles about you and your clients. Please stop this behavior. Drawn Some (talk) 21:47, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

(copied from AFD) Please do review my history. You will see my diligence and attention to detail. I will agree that I am relatively new to Wikipedia and have made several mistakes (as most do) learning along the way. But I do know that you are to assume good faith. And assuming I am the person in this article and am using it for my own purpose is not assuming good faith. I am NOT the person in this article, nor am I related to him in any way. I simply chose this article as a starting point before I ventured on to other articles, and I have gone to great lengths to improve, learn and research. It can be very confusing learning to navigate around Wikipedia at first, so please assume that any mistakes on my part are not intentional. I am still learning. You will see that I have ASKED for help many times. As far as the "what links here" links, I understood that I was to go to other articles that included his name and link them to his page.
And if you would kindly take a closer look, you will see that I was NOT the one to move Jonathan Hay (publicist) to Jonathan Hay (songwriter) and will note my reply to editor that did so, here. I do not know who this editor is and had to remove a lot of things he added to the article, such as changing his middle name and some random words at the end of the article. But since he did remove the AFD, I assumed it was okay to continue working on the article.
I assure you, my only intention is to better Wikipedia, not add useless or spam-filled articles. I still feel strongly that Jonathan Hay is a good article for Wikipedia. (By the way, if you do a regular Google search for him, you will see page after page of coverage. I hardly think he needs the publicity from a Wikipedia page.)--Jklein212 (talk) 08:38, 15 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Reversion of comments on COI noticeboard edit

Hi, I reverted your deletion of several paragraphs of comments on the Conflict of Interest notice board. It's not appropriate to delete your comments, especially after someone has responded to them. You may use strike tages to cross through your comments but you can't remove them. Drawn Some (talk) 22:03, 17 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Sabrina (American singer) edit

A tag has been placed on Sabrina (American singer) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Smartse (talk) 16:45, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I couldn't find a single reason for inclusion on Wikipedia:MUSIC#Criteria_for_musicians_and_ensembles. Smartse (talk) 16:45, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Removal of sources edit

Hi, I removed the references in Sabrina (American singer) because they didn't tell us anything that the other sources didn't. What's more they weren't particularly reliable sources or where only trivial mentions and therefore not suitable for inclusion. I hope this helps you understand.
