Source for king country

Hi Jim, The source for this information come from a wide range of old books, newspapers letters etc.The most well known is probably Gorst -The Maori King .He was the govt agent living in the area at the time. He was the bloke Rewi Maniapoto threatened at Te Awamutu in 1863. He spoke fluent Maori and was a well educated and bright English fellow -went on to be an MP in England later. Other sources are the NZ Herald of the time(based in Auckland). Also,Sorenson- the Maori king movement, and William Mair's many letters - he was a soldier during the war (he was the man the Kingites shot at while talking under a white flag at Orakau). He spoke fluent Maori and understood the Maori ways. He was widely used as a trusted govt agent in dealing with the Kingites. He later in the 70s lead a largely Maori NZ army in the hunt for Te Kooti the escaped convict and psychopathic, wannabe new Maori king and his gang of killers . Mair lived in the area close to the Puniu river (confiscation line)and knew a lot of the Kingites personally. He was a very hard man physically who had been largely raised in Maori communities as a kid. Later it was he who accepted the final formal surrender of King Tawhaio when he walked out of the King country in June 1881(?)at Pirongia (I think that date is right). Mair was well respected by all parties and was well placed to receive any and all information about what was going on behind the confiscation line. He regularly wrote to govt ministers in this period regarding the state of play on both sides of the "unofficial " border.

I didnt add that at this time many of the Queenite Maori chiefs were able to communicate to their relatives behind the line (many were literate),( as they had virtually continuosly during the 1863-64 war. It must be recalled that the govt could talk to the very influential Wiremu Tamihana (the king maker), who had been a reluctant warrior at any time. He was an extreme christian who put christianity before loyalty to his king. He has surrendered his mere (club) to General Cameron after the battle of Rangiri -Tamihana had escaped mid battle and was on his way back with about 200 or so reinforcements. He was considered a "surrendered" kingite so got good treatment. ie he was not imprisoned and only about 20% of his land was confiscated. He and his friends remained on good terms with the govt and leading pakeha and by 1867-68 were busy selling and leasing his Ngai Haua land to Auckland business men.

A key point was that within a year or so of the war ending so kingites had moved back to just by the Puniu river so they could trade with the many new settlers -this suited them -they no longer had to go all the way to Auckland to trade -just a few km .The kingites regularly came to race meetings and market days(this would be about 3 years after the war) so there was a good deal of informal interaction on the "NZ" side of the"border". Alcohol was a major concern to kingite leaders as Maori were so fond of booze -pre war it had been one of the top 5 trade items. Interestingly, although he was strongly anti booze, King Tawhaio was quite a drinker himself. Im not surprised really- trying to keep a grip on so many conflicting strong personalities when you are by nature a passive personality and almost certainly bi sexual in a very male world was near impossible . We know today that the reason for this drunkeness was a gene mutation Maori carry which makes them very drunk very quickly. Its still a major issue today. We know the cause but not the solution.I hope this helps fill in some gaps. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.188.195.19 (talk) 12:07, 6 January 2017 (UTC)

The anon editor here is very clearly "Claudia," who has banned and blocked from editing on Wikipedia on multiple occasions because of her past obstructive behaviour. See this ANI entry. This person continues to try to sidestep the ban and was last booted out by Gadfium. BlackCab (TALK) 12:15, 6 January 2017 (UTC)

Austrian School

Please see talk page, I've added sources. I don't know exactly how to format the references in the footnotes but the links are clearly there. The book cited actually has an excellent 10 page summary of the Austrian School. It's obviously difficult to distill 10 pages into a sentence but the emphasis in their passage is clearly free markets and spontaneous order not methodological individualism as far as I can tell. This is the best, clearest reference on the summary of the Austrian School out of all the references provided. Thanks MnuchinsGold (talk) 07:30, 7 January 2017 (UTC)

tournament categroy

178.167.171.168 (talk) 12:04, 6 January 2017 (UTC) tournament background colours are enough to signify tournament categories, no need to add another column as it makes tables look messy in my opinion.

There is no need for a special category section in the tables. That is why different background colours are used to signify each tournament level. There is also no need for one players records to be different to all the others and when you compare his table to the others there is no category section! I feel that it is surplus to requirements and quite frankly annoying when I am reading it 178.167.171.168 (talk) 12:17, 6 January 2017 (UTC)

@Jim1138:, you were correct to be reverting those edits. Thank you for your assistance. The category columns are needed, since background colors alone are not a sufficient means to convey that detail. More detail here: Background colors vs category columns. -- Saskoiler (talk) 19:57, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
Unfortunately, you are not the only person reading these articles. And a lot of people can only partially see colors, while some can't even see them at all. That's why WP:ACCESS dictates us to relay that information in more than one way, hence the columns.Tvx1 21:19, 7 January 2017 (UTC)

Pavel Bure Birthplace

Hello Jim1138,

Regarding Pavel Bure's birthplace, on the Russian Wiki page, it said he was born in Minsk. Being Russian, and Pavel too, I was shocked to fing Moscow, Russia, as his birthplace. Even on the main Google page, when you ask where he was born, it said Minsk, Belarus. Now, putting Moscow is easier for most audiences, as they know the place and country, but not everyone knows Minsk.

Anyway, all I wanted was to change it, but I couldn't, because of citation errors. May you help please?

Thank you very much

Pavel Bure Birthplace Continuation

Hello Jim,

I asked if you could help me, and you didn't. I found sources saying that Bure was born in Minsk, not Russia. Even though they are not in English, it is still evidence.

Just want to say, the top page had a part where it translated to - "Most people say that he was born in Moscow, but that is surprisingly false. His first cries were heard in our own cit of Minsk."

I am pretty inexperienced at computers, but I want you to read this message and tell me if this evidence is invalid, though I cannot see how this may be.

Thank you in advance.

Wikipedia articles are not considered wp:reliable sources as they are not under editorial scrutiny. Also, one Wiki could easily reference a second which references the first. See wp:circular. However you can often copy the sources in those Wikis over to another article. The article in Russian (which machine-translates poorly)could be acceptable provided it is under editorial scrutiny. See wp:reliable sources. Blogs, Facebook, Twitter usually are not. People can add mot anything they want to those with little repercussions. - see wp:selfpublished. Spider-Man's Tangled Web

Hi, it was me who edited the page for Spider-Man's Tangled Web that you reverted to its previous state. I didn't pay attention to the fact I was not logged in. I am aware that I removed content. I did so because I viewed some of the beginning of the article to be unnecessary, as many of those things were re-stated in the section that includes the list of issues. My main purpose of editing the page however, was not to remove unnecessary content, but to clean up the messy section regarding collected editions, and add an upcoming collected edition to the list. I should have specified the reason for my removal of content, I suppose. I hope I'm replying in the right place. I admit to being an infrequent editor of Wikipedia, and usually only make minor edits when I notice something missing or notice a spelling or grammar error. Cheers! 2klightyrsaway (talk) 12:57, 8 January 2017 (UTC)

Kilkenny is a city not a town

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_status_in_Ireland The history of the word in Ireland is somewhat parallel. Probably all or most of the places having bishops have been styled on some occasion civitas; but some of these are mere hamlets, and the term 'city' is currently applied only to a few of them which are ancient and important boroughs. Thom's Directory applies it to Dublin, Cork, Derry, Limerick ('City of the violated treaty'), Kilkenny, and Waterford; also to Armagh and Cashel, but not to Tuam or Galway (though the latter is often called 'the City of the Tribes'). Belfast was, in 1888, created a 'city' by Royal Letters Paten

Hello from Tender Nuke!

The edit you're referring to on my page is not a mistake. An user through sock-puppetry is trying to add an irrelevant stub to Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election, 2017 again and again. The details are following:
Accounts: User:Nihoyari, User:Terabar and various IP addresses.
Attempts: this , this , this , this , this and this .
So I request you to revert your edit back and help clean Wikipedia. Thanks in advance! TenderNuke (talk) 07:57, 12 January 2017 (UTC)

I'm Paul's family and there is information on the wiki page that should be there. I don't really understand why you have control over what is changed or published and why you can undo my edits?

Issues with 'Well sourced content'

Can you explain the relevancy of that well sourced content? This stub is not relevant to Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election, 2017 and also promotes caste and religion based politics as deemed illegal by the Supreme Court of India.[1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by TenderNuke (talkcontribs) 09:04, 12 January 2017 (UTC)

@TenderNuke: What the US Supreme Court says about a server on Indian soil is not enforceable. The same goes for Wikipedia servers which are on American soil. What the Indian Supreme Court says about Wikipedia servers is irrelevant. They could block Wikipedia, which I doubt they will, but they can not control content. So, your argument is irrelevant. If other Indians put bigoted crap on articles I can not do much about it. There is no wp:policy that I know about. It is therefore rather uncontrollable. I see caste additions everywhere. "I'm a Brahmin and everyone else is sh*t". What a country.
This therefore becomes a wp:content dispute, not wp:vandalism. I suggest you discuss your concerns on the talk page as I suggested on your talk page. If you want caste information eliminated on Wikipedia, which would be fine by me, I suggest you get a bunch of your friends together and start a discussion on wp:Village pump. But, you need to be civil and rational about it. A pile-on would result in people being wp:blocked. Perhaps start on the wp:help desk or wp:teahouse. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 09:24, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
@Jim1138: You got me wrong. I didn't mention Supreme Court of India in terms of law-enforcement but to support my point. And you said-I can not do much about it. but you did by reverting my edit. TenderNuke (talk) 10:16, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
@TenderNuke: It's a content dispute, discuss it on the talk page. I don't care. Jim1138 (talk) 10:19, 12 January 2017 (UTC)

Hello! I appreciate your efforts to keep all the info well-referenced, but.. all I did was to remove material that appeared outdated and potentially misleading in the context of new research. The more recent research (e.g. WHO/FAO report, 2016) reaches different conclusions (and is quoted in the article). I am not sure what other info/references are necessary? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tehlirian (talkcontribs) 08:15, 15 January 2017 (UTC)

@Jim1138: When you look at their reference list, it has not been updated since 2014. Since 2014 we've seen a significant number of new peer-reviewed journal articles (including several cited throughout the article) and the WHO's assessment which demonstrate that the risk of any type of liver injury appears extremely low and that it's likely connected to either poor quality, molded plant material extracted with strong organic solvents or to idiosyncratic allergic reactions.

hey jim,

i note you reverted changes made on gammaglobulin due to lack of reference. However if you read that paragraph there are large areas of uncited information. The changes you reverted removed some uncited material although some new material was added which may need citation.

I think it was not appropriate to use revert given that all the changes did not need to be undone.

Ziphon (ALLears) 08:25, 15 January 2017 (UTC)

@Ziphon: Actually, I reverted for failing to give an explanation for removal. Restoring unexplained removal is accepted practice. The edits are saved in the wp:page history, so the edits can easily be revisited. Are you saying that because others haven't added citations, citations are no longer require? A free-for-all? Jim1138 (talk) 08:38, 15 January 2017 (UTC)
hey jim, i see what you mean about the lack of explaination. The anonymous editor was a friend who was editing wikipedia for the first time and couldn't understand why his edit was removed. I think the reason you have mentioned as lack of citation is not correct. if you look at the changes made it largely removed content which had no citation. However, I concede you have no reason for knowing that was the reason it was removed given the lack of an edit summary. As for the lack of citations I think it would have been better to tag the area as lacking citations. Ziphon (ALLears) 06:04, 16 January 2017 (UTC)

January 2017

Hi Jim1138, the content removal was not erroneous in nature and I had previously described why the content was removed in the summary but had to open a new tab because the article was edited as I was making the corrections. The information removed was either redundant in nature or outright false and lacked proper citation.

FYI

Hi, regarding some changes made to Bebe Rexha article. Recently some of her true information were changed incorrectly. First the youtube video's name is: "Bebe Rexha talking about being Albanian and songwriting (Ebro Darden Interview)"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S96rcOmHgcM not "being Serbian" ( "Serbian" was certainly added by a Serb just to piss off Albanians...it happens always), second, Bebe Rexha is from Albanian descent and talks about it in every interview, she never considers herself just American, that why adding Albanian descent is important. Third, the 2 links provided as sources about her parents descent are in contradiction with each other, one said both her parents are from Dibra and one other said one from Dibra and the other from Gostivar... that's why I added a new link who supports the info that both her parents are from Diber in Albania. The new link is a video of Bebe's visit and concert in Tirana, Albania, when she says that both her parents are from Diber in Albania and that she's proud to be Albanian (shqiptare).

Thanks.

Dear Jim,

Thanks for the tip. Indeed, I am new to the wikipedia edit and wasn't fully tuned into the edit protocol and didn't elaborate on the reasons for my edit. Kindly note that ALL my edits are legitimate ones today and were meant to be reflected. I'll revert to the article in question and add reasons for each of edit for clarity.

Toombul District Cricket Club

Hi Jim, My recent edit to the Toombul District Cricket Club page doesn't need a citation or reference because I'm on the executive committee at Toombul, and the information I updated doesn't have a publicly available reference to be linked to. Also, I deleted the club song section because we discussed it as a committee and decided we don't want the lyrics publicly available.

The Pro Wrestling Report Summary

Hi Jim
I called My 24 in October 2016 and asked them about Pro Wrestling Report and they told me that The producers decided not to run the show no more. Pro Wrestling Report came on My 24 Saturday Night at 10:00 pm after Ring of Honor Wrestling,Pro Wrestling Report stopped showing on My 24 in October,November,December 2016 to present because the producers decided not to run the show no more.

My change

I agree that the subject was well researched and highly accurate. My goal wasn't to paint a rosy picture of the university, but to simply be fair to it. Many other universities have had similar issues and don't have their own dedicated sections for it on Wikipedia. I assure you my intentions are not to vandalize or hide anything from the public. I just found this information to be a little unnecessary on a main university page. Even if I can't make this change, I appreciate your dedication to keeping this website as accurate as possible. Garywalker (talk) 06:11, 21 January 2017 (UTC)

@Garywalker: I have seen a number of university articles on Wikipedia with similar issues. Cheating, plagiarism, rape, racism, etc. Just because such content is missing from a few doesn't mean they have to be removed from other articles. You could add a wp:request for comment template to the talk page. Also, please feel free to add such content to other articles. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 06:24, 21 January 2017 (UTC)

January 2017

Hi, Jim1138. I saw you left me a message on my talk page that my contribution did not appear constructive. It is highly controversial if Megalia is actually promoting women rights or not, as the site is based on radical feminism and most of the users are expressing misandry. To make sure that the site is based on radical feminism would more neutrally and also clearly explain about this website. Therefore, the fact that Megalia is website which is born from and pursuing radical feminism is more important than you think, as this fact distinguishes the site with normal feminism activists' website.

I'll revert it again. Thanks. Thatpower —Preceding undated comment added 13:20, 24 January 2017 (UTC)

@Thatpower: Regarding Megalia, there seems to be much on misandry and male genital mutilation in the article. Yet, when I looked at it using a rather poor Google translation, there does not seem to be much at all on these topics. That would suggest that much of the article is wp:UNDUE and should be removed. The Wikipedia article should reflect on what is going on on the website, not what their detractors want. Would you agree that most of the content of Megalia is not about mutilation of men's genitals or how to damage or destroy men? For instance, if most of the subject matter is about getting equal rights, then it might more appropriately be classified as a feminist website. Just curious. That someone doesn't know how to buy toilet paper is not a notable event. Unless, that is, one wants to humiliate them. Would that be your purpose here? Jim1138 (talk) 05:57, 25 January 2017 (UTC)
Someone not knowing how to buy toilet paper may not be a notable event on the actual event, but as someone who insist they understand fully the conditions of the working and poor population of her city - whilst demonstrating that she did not know how to buy a train ticket or buy toilet paper is an issue. Same as adultery isn't a notable event if you or I did it; but in becomes a notable even when a Politician or a public personality does it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 170.148.69.141 (talk) 06:01, 25 January 2017 (UTC)

抹大拉馬利亞,是作蠱作法族群。 在二千年前,在 古墓 及 家中 使用一種黑色類似潛意識前驅物的魔法, 對 約書亞・本・約瑟夫行惡事。 Magdalene was a witchcraft and superstitious practices ethnic group. Two thousand year ago, they did evil to Yeshua ben Joseph with a kind of dark magic of subconscious precursor alike.

聖經在古墓的經文: Scripture on tombstone in Bible:

耶穌問她:「婦人,你為甚麼哭呢?你在找誰?」 這句話,彷彿不認識她,實則因為耶穌警覺到了她的舉動。 但後來還是不查她的犯罪舉動。因為神國的 神 不認為她的作蠱行為舉動會有什麼影響力,因此覺得沒有什麼。

Jesus asked her, “Miss, why are you crying? Whom are you looking for?” It seemed like Jesus did not know her, but in fact, her action aroused his vigilance. Still no criminal behaviors were found later, since God in Kingdom took her witchcraft action as a matter of slight consequence.

後來持續不查的原因,是因為她將該類似潛意識前驅物的黑魔,放置在相關人及天空存有的身上,並讓他們不知道這件事。

The reason why they did not investigate the event was that she hid the truth she had done this dark magic on relative individuals and space beings without realizing it.

2014 年8 月,她對我行作法作蠱之事,儘管我並不認識她。

In August 2014, she did witchcraft to Ching Yueh Tsai though she did not know her.

In 2015, 2016 and before, she did dark magic on human beings and took my body as intermediary to control human bodies and soul of space beings and fudged false stories or wrong information. Besides, she rewrote texts and contents available on Google and even on Bible ONCE.

在二千年後的今天,其作蠱作法已擴及整個天空,因為使用黑魔做法,就是傷害天父的身體,導致天父身體嚴重受損。

Today, after two thousand years, the witchcraft is extended to the whole sky and does harm to Heavenly Father’s body badly.

因為這樣的前驅物不為人所識,是來自上界神國具有神力,但先前不為人所知。 若非她真的傷害了人類存有並真實操控人類存有,實在很難讓人相信這樣的人存在。

Edit to Dr. Abdulqadir as sufi's page

@Jim1138: Hello Jim,

I made note that the edited information on Dr. Abdalqadir As-sufi's page was removed because it did not have even one viable citation, the references were non-existent and therefore Wikipedia does not have substantial evidence to make such claims. I hope this helps.

99.173.49.146 (talk) 03:02, 26 January 2017 (UTC)

First, the articles are still there, just under a different URL. I replaced the URLs with the new one in Abdalqadir as-Sufi. Second, even if they were permenently gone, WP:KDL (keep dead links) applies. The links were added about 2013, plenty of time to verify they were valid. So, removal would not be valid under the references begin 404. Please try to repair wp:linkrot next time rather than simply deleting? Thank you Jim1138 (talk) 05:00, 26 January 2017 (UTC)

Sikhism and Sikh Names (articles)

Hi! I'm so sorry, I've only just received the message that my edits from last year on the Sikhism page are technically vandalism since I didn't cite my sources. For that particular page, I believe I only changed the section about vegetarianism, where it was incorrectly stated that Sikhs eat "halal" despite the religion only allowing full vegetarianism. Unfortunately, I just edited another article on "Sikh Names" before I noticed this message, where I had clarified the naming process, as well as pointing out the cultural and religious differences on the issue.

As for my credentials, I studied verses and hymns from the Guru Granth Sahib for 6 years.

I'm genuinely terribly sorry, I didn't mean to change anything that I wasn't supposed to and I only meant to clarify certain sections of the article. If you need to re-edit anything that I added, I completely understand that you are within rights to.

I apologize for any concerns this might have caused you,

Sikhism (article)

Sorry, just to clarify again now that I've had the chance to look over the article. All the issues I have are in the "Prohibitions in Sikhism" section.

1) Nihangs don't ever use cannabis. Sikhism prohibits the use of drugs or "nashians" according to the Rehet Maryada. Despite being a more natural drug, I've never heard of a single Nihang that uses cannabis (we're progressive, but not that progressive).

2) "Puja" refers to the Hindu service for marriage; the Sikh official term for this is "Anand Karaj" which relates to the union of a (baptized) couple in the eyes of god (they have to sit in front of the Guru Granth Sahib and listen to "lavans", which are instructions about marriage and unity and whatever).

3) It's actually very common for Sikhs to go to College or University in order to learn Granthi Studies to be a Giani (priest); they generally learn the historical events surrounding the hymns and they analyze the verses - the curriculum may include learning fluent Sanskrit, Farsi, and Urdu as well.

4) Meat is never served as langar. In some countries (based on the major dominant culture), the typical roti/dhaal langar is changed; for example, in some temples (gurdwaras) in Singapore, they serve noodles - however, these noodles will be vegetarian and only vegetarian. This is because Sikhs are vegetarian, meaning no meat whatsoever, not even halal.

I'm sorry, but this is the point that I needed changed the most. Some Sikhs (and ALL baptized Sikhs) are vegetarian (no meat, no eggs, no fish), and I just really wanted to clear up the misconception.

5) Also, "Akhand Kirtani Jathai" is not a conservative sect (actually, there aren't any sects in Sikhism) - they are just a group of musical performers that compose/sing poetry about events in Sikh history in gurdwaras, kinda like gospel in churches.

I know that this might not seem like credible information at all, it's just really hard to find accurate sources since nobody even knows about Sikhism, much less writes proper articles on it (the only ones I can think of are Basics of Sikhi and Sikhnet, but they aren't exactly articles). I feel like this should be common knowledge, but I guess not all people have had the same access to religious education that I have had.

I'm so sorry again,

Thank you for your time. 184.65.116.153 (talk) 07:04, 26 January 2017 (UTC)

@Cross33: What you were doing to Justin Wells is referred to as "page hijacking". The page topic exists and it is likely there are multiple links to that page. Sikhism

Hi! Thank you for your reply. I definitely agree with the idea that followers of all religions (Sikhism included) tend to cherry pick ideas from their religious texts, or practice a variation of their faith. I just meant to point out the differentiation between the cultural aspect and what is promoted within the lines of scripture themselves; for example, while it is common for non-baptized Sikhs to eat meat, there are legitimate verses from the religious text that specifically address how eating any meat is considered to be "a sin" - however, I guess there are some people out there that do interpret the text as permitting "halal" meat. It's just the first time I've seen a minority view (that holds less religious and cultural convention) as being accepted as the general rule for all Sikhs. I guess it's sorta comparable to saying that although the scripture might literally say that a Sikh should not cut their hair (it does), a cultural view in some remote area interprets this as 'a Sikh is permitted to cut their hair once every other month' (hypothetical example) and then that generalization of all Sikhs were written onto an article about Sikhism (which then leads to the misunderstanding that Sikhism permits cutting one's hair every other month).

I swear, I'm trying to stay as objective as possible - Sikhism isn't that well known of a religion and I just really didn't want to create more misinformation, regardless of one's opinions of it.

I do completely understand your point, though. I'm really sorry to have bothered you - I promise that this is the last message!

(I'm guessing this whole replying thing must get pretty tiring)

Enra Group

Hi Jim1138,

I noticed that you deleted the Enra Group wikipedia page. Would it be possible to have a conversation around why I think it should be there? I think it is notable due to your “sustained” criterion, it has had repeated coverage over 3 years in Sunday Times as a notable high-growth UK business (Fast Track 100 + 1 year in Profit Track 100 and an expected 2nd years in the latest edition of Profit Track 100).

That’s an independent measure from a major UK news source that considers Enra Group's performance to be “notable” for a sustained period of time. The links are included in the article.

Thanks,

@Xazxda: I didn't delete it, I only suggested it be deleted. An wp:administrator reviewed my suggestion, the article, and then deleted it. I do not remember the specifics on the article. It was likely it was either that it did not appear to meet wp:notability or it was worded in a wp:promotional manner. See wp:NOTPROMOTION, wp:policy, and wp:manual of style. I would suggest you review the previous pages and look at similar organizations to get an idea how to write an article. You might also use wp:article for creation and/or create it in your sandbox.
