Creek people

Hi, Jdlambert. I changed your edit to Creek people and removed the citations from the Sequoyah Research Center, which looked a lot like original research. You may be on to something, but Wikipedia is not the place to hold its debut. On the other hand, the documents you cite may not be the best available sources for the origin of the name "Muscogee." Other documents exist that would give other derivations. If there is a consensus of experts, that is what we should cite.

Factory farming

It hasn't been locked for seven months, but since May 20. I very much hope you leave it locked, and in fact the other titles involved in the dispute need to be locked too to force all the editors to the table. It's because they have simply carried on editing the other titles (but we have stayed away from them so as not to edit war) that they feel fine about turning down mediation. I'm not an admin, so I can't unlock it. However, I think the chance of mediation helping is near zero, I think that keeping it locked will not convince others to agree to mediation, and I think that unlocking could allow us to make progress if people will hash out proposed changes on the talk page before making any changes. Jdlambert, I'll respond to you here, since you addressed your response on the article page to me. I agree with SlimVirgin above – the only reason the others are refusing to compromise or to agree to mediation is because other related pages are open, we are not editing them to avoid edit warring, and therefore the other pages have become POV forks. Unlocking this page would be exactly the wrong move – it would remove any pressure on that group to mediate or negotiate, and only result in the resumption of the edit warring that caused the original protection. As an admin, I never unprotect an article that I protect due to edit warring, unless I have personally verified that there are improved chances for meaningful negotiations and collaboration. I don't see any such changes in this case – the fact that one side absolutely refuses mediation speaks volumes. Crum375 16:49, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

I've looked, but never found one. Everything I've seen just refers to it as SQL. If you find somewhere that MySQL AB refers to it by name, please add it and its citation. JD Lambert 15:52, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

I guess it could be called "SQL" because it's part of SQL now. Do you have any evidence that MySQL has a [non-standard] SQL procedural extension?

Here's a few... Do, Handler, Load Data Infile, Kill, Reset, Flush. All these are listed in MySQL AB's documentation under "13. SQL Statement Syntax" and I don't believe they're ANSI standard. I am sorry, but at 777K bytes, Public access stations (United States) was about 20 times bigger than a decent Wikipedia article ought to be. It is not the length of the visible article that is the problem but the massive use of HTML markup. This also suggests the article is a copyvio. I have movd it to User:Jdlambert/sandbox. It may not be a copyvio, but you do need to declare its source. I have found it in two places on the web, both equally massive files due to ridiculous HTML - but different HTML from yours! Could you reverse some link deletions please?

Hello JD, A week and a half ago, you reversed a link deletion on the Nathan Bedford Forrest article with the comment "Hi, Donald. I'm not sure why you think the animated history links are spam, but I restored the one on General Forrest after checking the link. I think it's an excellent link for anyone interested in Forrest's military history. JD Lambert(T|C) 23:46, 4 September 2008 (UTC)"

Donald also deleted a number of other links to battle animations and then reported me as a spammer. I tried to reverse the links, but a spammer-policeman (kind of - they do good work) named Merc then reversed those.

I took the time work with the Civil War Community and, based on the advice of the two project managers, I asked for an opinion on Civil War Talk which you can view here: [1] The opinion given is by Hal Jespersen who is the guiding/driving force for the entire project as he has created all of the maps for civil war on Wiki. (His website is: [2]). Hal states: "I think your animations are well done and don't object to judicious inclusion as External links. My concept of judicious would be to select only the most important or relevant places to link. For instance, Gettysburg has dozens of articles about the campaign and battle and literally hundreds of articles about men, women, and units who fought there. I'd recommend linking only from Battle of Gettysburg and Gettysburg Campaign (assuming you also animate the campaign as a whole). ....... Hal Jespersen (talk) 15:05, 10 September 2008 (UTC)"

The only other warning I ever had about spamming is on my own Talk page and the author of the article itself replied to the warning thanking me for adding the link to the article.

I made my case to Merc the person who redeleted my links quoting all the above on his Talk page. His response is: "I wouldn't recommend reinserting the links yourself because you may find yourself being reverted again by someone else citing our conflict of interest guideline. If Hal (or some third party) feels the links are worthwhile then by all means he should add them himself. Our spam archives are full of examples of people spamming their own sites for money and/or ego, so we need to be wary of people adding links to their own sites in a systematic manner. Based on Merc's suggestion, I was wondering if you would do me a great favor and reverse Merc's links (he said it is OK but recommends that I personally do not do it).

Supposed "Sherman" photo

The seated figure with the hat in hand probably is not a general at all (given his uniform) and this appears to be the staff of General William Vandeveer, who was posted to Rome in May 1864.

It would be nice if you could correct the title of the image you have posted, which I don't know how to do.

Anyway, I have done what I can to correct things on the JPG page and the Rome, Georgia page.

Numbers

I saw that you were in a dispute with User:Colin about whether the "ketogenic diet" that you're personally on should be the one that's at the title "Ketogenic diet" on Wikipedia. I think you're wasting your time there, but I wanted to say something else. You said that you "have done far more edits on Wikipedia than" Colin. The number of edits isn't necessarily a good measure of value, but your assertion appears to be wrong. As of today, Colin's made 12,609 edits, and your account shows exactly 836 non-deleted edits to your account. If your other edits are in a different account, then you can use {{User alternative account}} or similar templates to link them together. You are correct that I was incorrect about me having more edits than Colin. I suspect I looked at the wrong thing when getting numbers to compare. I agree that the number of edits is not necessarily a good measure of total value, but a significant number of edits can indicate a novice editor vs. an experienced editor. I agree I wasted my time trying to change Colin's mind. I intend to finish an initial article on ketogenic diets in general, make it live, and then make an appeal to a wider Wiki audience regarding the names of the articles. Unfortunately my efforts are limited by the effects of Mild Cognitive Impairment and the remnants of damage from encephalitis, but I intend to continue as long as I am able to make progress. Fox bit with links to both their website and Anavex's. The last one with a delete vote didn't even seem to read the article.
