Speedy deletion nomination of User:Jamie Welford edit

A tag has been placed on User:Jamie Welford requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free Web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. • I have had a look at the page. I see no problem with telling us a few things about yourself, such as that you are a YouTuber, rapper, and so on, but linking to a YouTube account is unacceptable, as it amounts to using Wikipedia to publicise or promote the account, which is against Wikipedia policy. Also, including information about your brothers is at best dubious, as we have no way of knowing whether they have consented to publication of personal information. Generally speaking, posting personal information about other people, apart from information which is already extensively publicly available, is unacceptable. For those reasons, I am going to delete the page. You are free to re-create the page, but if you do so please be careful to avoid including the sorts of thing I have mentioned. You may also want to consider whether you want to include information about where you live. There are many editors who do have such information on their user pages, and you are perfectly free to do so if you choose to, but a small minority of editors have suffered harassment in real life from people who are aggrieved with their Wikipedia editing, so many editors prefer not to post such information. • Jamie, you asked on my talk page if you can re-create your user page. If you look carefully at what I wrote above, you will see that I have already said "You are free to re-create the page". I'm sorry that your start to editing Wikipedia has involved deletion of one of the first pages you created, which may be a bit discouraging, but please do go ahead and re-create it, and I hope from now on you have a good time here. Speedy deletion nomination of Yassine El Hamida edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, introducing inappropriate pages, such as Yassine El Hamida, is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Under section G3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, the page has been nominated for deletion.

June 2015 edit

Do not create, add, maintain, insert, or restore hoaxes on Wikipedia, such as you did with the article Yassine El Hamida. Usually, hoaxes will be caught and marked for deletion shortly after they are created. If you are interested in how accurate Wikipedia is, a more constructive test method would be to try to find inaccurate statements that are already in Wikipedia – and then to correct them if possible. Please do not disrupt Wikipedia. Feel free to take a look at the five pillars of Wikipedia to learn more about this project and how you can contribute constructively. Thank you. Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi 16:39, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

(edit conflict):I deleted this article because it wasn't true. None of the "references" mentioned El Hamida. The Montpellier team is listed here, and he isn't in it. Check out Wikipedia:Verifiability and stop wasting our time. If you post more hoaxes, you may be blocked from editing. JohnCD (talk) 16:40, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Your recent editing at User talk:Joseph2302 edit

  1. Joseph2302 is not an administrator, and so can't block anyone.
  2. You are not going to last long on Wikipedia if you go round asking for blocks of everyone who does something you don't like.
  3. I too have searched for information about the subject of the article you wrote, and found nothing. If even half of the claims you made about his career were true, there would be thousands of mentions of him on the internet, and there aren't.
  4. The "references" you posted about him didn't even mention him. Even if you honestly believed that what you were writing was true, you must have known that the references you were posting were fake. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 17:01, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
... oh, oh, oh! When I wrote the message above, I was referring to this editing. At the time, I hadn't seen this. That looks remarkably similar to stuff done by a disruptive editor who was blocked some time ago. If I can manage to find that editor lost somewhere in the block logs, it will be interesting to compare and see if there are any other similarities to your editing. Or perhaps you can save me the trouble, by telling me all about it. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 17:08, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
I agree with the above:
  1. I'm not an admin so cannot block
  2. Google search suggests this person doesn't exist (if they did, a link to them on Soccerbase would have appeared in the searches), it's possible they're a youth team player, but then they aren't notable enough per WP:FOOTY.
  3. No actual admin would block someone for nominating a page for deletion- if it wasn't a hoax, another user could have removed the speedy deletion tag, nad no harm done.
  4. As for the other weird requests, I'm still not an admin. Joseph2302 (talk) 17:15, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Copyright problem, and editing cautiously at first. edit

I have just deleted the article Zachary Herivaux, which you created. You copied the text word-for word from somewhere else, probably http://www.revolutionsoccer.net/news/2015/05/revolution-sign-academy-midfielder-zachary-herivaux You can't simply copy content from other places like that, because it is against copyright law.

Jamie, if you want to avoid being blocked, you need to calm down a bit, and be more cautious about editing, rather than rushing in. My advice to new editors is that it is best to start by making small improvements to existing articles, rather than creating new articles. That way any mistakes you make (which you will, because we all do) will be small ones, and you won't have the discouraging experience of repeatedly seeing hours of work deleted. Gradually, you will get to learn how Wikipedia works, and after a while you will know enough about what is acceptable to be able to write whole new articles without fear that they will be deleted. Over the years I have found that editors who start by making small changes to existing articles and work up from there have a far better chance of having a successful time here than those who jump right into creating new articles from the start. Greetings from North East England edit

Hello Jamie, and I'd like to personally welcome you to Wikipedia. I am a Manchester United fan plus I am 19 years old too.   Just a tip for you, on your user page you have written My Articles, I would suggest putting Articles I have created rather than My Articles, as just because you have created an article that doesn't mean it is yours, as per WP:OWN, which you may want to read. Thank You and I hope you can contribute to the encyclopedia for many years to come. Welcome! TeaLover1996 Talk to me 11:30, 16 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Hi Administrators, I didn't know that I was evading blocks in Wikipedia and I confirm I will try not to do it again and I'll try to remember. Sorry about not looking at the Wikipedia policies and rules and will sure visit them AFTER you unblock me. Also very sorry aboutevading and not following the rules. Some over stuff I'm sorry about is for confronting other Wikipedians for no reason. Yassine El Hamida is a lie and I'm ashamed of thinking I can lie and get away with it. Sorry to GiantSnowman, Joseph2030 and some others. I am here to contribute, learn and edit mistakes. I now remember not to lie. Sorry for all this ruckus. So please unblock me after you accept my apologies to people. Also I do not have other accounts, this is my first one, I used to be a user on Uncyclopedia. But I don't know who Robbie Woodrow, Jake Redmond or GlowingCommando66 is. If I did I would tell you about them, but this was my first Wikipedia account. Cheers, Jamie Welford (talk) 18:30, 17 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Some tiny part of me liked "I now remember not to lie" enough to read to the end, but this unblock request is a demonstration of either (a) an extreme lack of competence to edit here, or (b) trolling. I'm guessing (b), but it really doesn't matter. Either way, declined, and talk page revoked to prevent more time wasting. Floquenbeam (talk) 18:53, 17 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

User is a sock, this is the 4th account (that we know of...), they have done nothing but troll and vandalise. GiantSnowman 18:46, 17 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
