Fair use rationale for Image:Eu bg.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Eu bg.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Ease your burden edit

I notice you're creating a number of Star Wars articles (good for you), but from scratch. It's a lot easier to copy over from Wookieepedia any uncreated articles, and bend one's efforts towards improving their version instead of trying to write or create ex nihilo. It's perfectly alright so long as one links to them (I use the usual Wookieepedia-linking template, {{sww}}) and credits them with something like "the original version of this article came from Wookieepedia". --maru (talk) contribs 15:25, 14 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I create the articles from scratch only when the search allows me to create an article from them, otherwise i'm not adverse to a bit of editing. James Random 15:32, 14 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with Image:Tantive_IV.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Tantive_IV.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Doctor Who Glossary of Terms edit

My honest opinion may not be one you'll like, I'm afraid. Aside from various errors, it's unfortunately redundant, and duplicates a lot of stuff that's already there in the various lists, which are more specific. I don't think it'd survive a vote for deletion and might even be a candidate for speedy deletion. I'm not saying this to put you down, just being straight with you. You might want to get additional opinions from the rest of the Wikiproject on the Wikipedia talk:Wikiproject Doctor Who page, but I can pretty much say the general opinion will be the same. --khaosworks (talkcontribs) 15:59, 19 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

You're not quite understanding me. Even if you fill it with obscure facts, you won't get it past deletion because it fails the test of notability. A random collection of trivia won't survive, no matter how you pad it up. On top of that, as I said, it duplicates stuff on other pages, so it'll die because it's redundant. If you ask me, it's probably best that you just ask an admin to delete it now rather than working more on it and going through the trauma of seeing it deleted later. --khaosworks (talkcontribs) 16:08, 19 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

John Lumic credit on Army of Ghosts edit

You put in your edit summary:

Don't delete this again! Really, I mean it! radio times.

I've amended the cast list to reflect the Radio Times, and nowhere in there can I find a mention of John Lumic or Roger Lloyd Pack. Have you got a specific reference? —Whouk (talk) 18:07, 28 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for letting me know. I think it would be best to stick with the RT listing unless a better and more complete source emerges before transmission (which is only two days away). Better to have a good source but not be comprehensive than to appear to be comprehensive but potentially be wrong.
Incidentally, Terence may correct me, but from my Beginner's Mandarin I'd say that "Ni hau ma" should be "Nĭ hăo", which is more equivalent to "Hello" ("Nĭ hăo ma?" being "How are you?"). —Whouk (talk) 10:42, 29 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Looks like Whouk fixed up the problem on Doctor Who. You can't really change the infobox without editing it and changing everywhere its used, basically all tv programmes. Don't worry too much, there isn't much you can do to break wikipedia by editing that can't be easily fixed, so continue to be bold! Tim! 16:53, 29 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Basically the tetx on the left hand side is set in stone on Template:Infobox Television, and you can't change it on specific articles. I think it will have to stay as it is unfortunately. Tim! 17:00, 29 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

It wasn't me that deleted it (although I don't disagree with the action). You can prepare text by creating a sandbox - see the instructions here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:User_page#How_do_I_create_a_user_subpage.3F Chrislintott 14:26, 23 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I see you have added the text back. I have deleted the image, as it doesn't meet the requirements of copyright (images of newspapers can only be used to illustrate discussion of the articles they illustrate and must include the name of the source). You do need to give specific references, from a reputable source (and I personally am very sceptical about the book you include in your edit summary) for each statement in the body of the text. ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
