Merger of Australian country music and Indigenous Australian music into Australian folk and indigenous music edit

I noticed you have merged Australian country music and Indigenous Australian music into Australian folk and indigenous music, this seems to me to loose more than it gains. I have posted on this at the Australian Wikipedians' notice board -- Paul foord (talk) 23:53, 25 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I've had to revert your changes, as they didn't seem well justified - the two styles are quite distinct, and the Australian Country Music scene is well established in its own right, so I can't see why it would need to be merged with the indigenous music scene, which is also valid as a topic in its own right. You're welcome, of course, to seek other opinions - perhaps the discussion at Talk:Indigenous Australian music#Merging of country and indigenous music will find consensus for the merger. - Bilby (talk) 04:39, 26 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
I should add that there's a good process at Wikipedia:Merging which goes into how you can approach such changes. I've found that useful in the past. Importantly, there are a few steps to do with edit summaries and tagging the merged article which are needed to properly meet the attribution requirement of the CC licensing employed here. - Bilby (talk) 04:44, 26 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edits edit

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 12:49, 26 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

April 2011 edit

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary for your edits. Doing so helps everyone understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. Bidgee (talk) 10:40, 28 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edits edit

Hi Jaedit, I've just reverted your edits to the Australia article. Other editors have raised concerned about the material on tuition fees which I agree with - this material is simplistic and the references you provide aren't very suitable. The organisations you've highlighted Australia's membership of in the lead also don't seem hugely important compared to the other organisations listed there. Can you please discuss this at Talk:Australia? Thank you Nick-D (talk) 11:03, 28 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

And please use the edit summary when making edits to articles. Not using the edit summary can be seen as disruptive, even if its unintended (forgetting to add a summary). Bidgee (talk) 11:07, 28 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Signing messages edit

  • When you type a message, at the end please put ~~~~ (four tildes): Wikipedia's editor will change this into the date and time and your username, as a signature. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 11:14, 8 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
