Mottoes

A lot of those things aren't really mottoes, but just parts of mission statements. Mottoes are usually short and snappy. Zagalejo^^^ 22:32, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

Clemente High School move

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Clemente High School a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Roberto Clemente Community Academy. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. IHSA links

Just so we're clear, the Q in the IHSA charts doesn't mean that a team appeared in the actual championship match. Generally, it just means that a team appeared in the playoffs. Flags in infoboxs on school articles

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. I see you haven't been here too long and I wanted you to know we are glad you have joined the ranks of Wikipedia editors. You appear to be doing a lot of work on Chicago schools, and that is great. Just so you know, school article guidelines are that flags not be included in infoboxes. See WP:WPSCH/AG#IB. Keep up the great work. I do a lot of editing at school articles, too. They seem to get a lot of vandalism, but they also get some attention from some fine new editors. Sports

Remember that different sports take place in different seasons of the year. For example, a basketball championship in 2008-09 would have been awarded in 2009, because basketball is considered a winter sport. Also, "ranked class 3A" (or whatever) doesn't really mean anything by itself. 3A (or 4A, or whatever) are classifications based on school enrollment. Zagalejo^^^ 23:21, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

Just an FYI. That is true in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Oregon and Idaho for sure. But in New York, "class" is used somewhat like we might use "Regional" in the Midwest. Gtwfan52 (talk) 01:19, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

Please do not use IMDB as a source for any personal information in biography articles. Long-term consensus is that IMDB and similar sites do not meet Wikipedia's reliable source criteria for such material in biography articles. Additional information can be found here and and here.
