Why did you delete my sister's image of puzzle pieces?

Please add it back to her profile. I want to be nice to her but you bullied her. Her name was Indefinitely popped. Aaron$richy (talk) 01:06, 2 March 2023 (UTC)

I didn't. I suggest you both read the edit summary from when the file was removed. Please educate yourself on what bullying is. — JJMC89 01:26, 2 March 2023 (UTC)

Adding the logo for Love Radio Cebu's infobox article.

User:JJMC89, why do you remove the logo for DYBU-FM (Love Radio Cebu)? There's nothing wrong with it. Love Radio Cebu and Love Radio Zamboanga have the same logo and frequency which is on 97.9 FM. So can you please allow me to add this image (File:Love Radio Zamboanga Logo.jpg) on DYBU-FM (Love Radio Cebu)'s article? Or otherwise, you please upload an image for Love Radio Cebu's infobox article (("File:LoveRadioCebu new logo.jpg") AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Thank you. 🙂. 49.146.22.36 (talk) 10:03, 6 March 2023 (UTC)

I didn't. I suggest you read the pages linked in the edit summary. — JJMC89 02:23, 11 March 2023 (UTC)

Unblock Request

I understand completely why I am blocked because I uploaded images from another source without evidence of permission since last January and I'll try to be careful about uploading them with evidence of permission in the future. Sundropie (talk) 22:53, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

Please keep unblock requests on your talk page. The ones made there so far do not demonstrate that you understand. — JJMC89 02:23, 11 March 2023 (UTC)

Blocks

Hi, JJMC89. I don't think the user posting just above will be here that long. But as a last chance, I've blocked them sitewide for one month only. Unfortunately that kills your indef from the file namespace, because... that's how it works. (Bugzilla is aware.) I'm sure the partial indef was needed, and I'll try to remember to reinstate it when my sitewide expires. Bishonen | tålk 20:19, 12 March 2023 (UTC).

Untitled from Jax MN

JJ, would you please do a quick favor? You (or the bot) asked me to revise an image I just uploaded today, and make it smaller. I did so, at File:Abner Edwin Patton, an SAE founder.jpg. But I fumbled when typing the rationale, and noted the photo was from ~1958. That should have been ~1858. I do not have administrative rights to fix that date. Would you? Jax MN (talk) 05:52, 14 March 2023 (UTC)

@Jax MN: The upload comment cannot be edited. I don't think your source is correct since the images don't match. — JJMC89 15:19, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
Checking for the correct link. The artwork and the citation were sent to me by staff at the fraternity. I will switch the photo or link, as they provide a clarification. Jax MN (talk) 15:42, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
I just uploaded a revised image. I will insert a request to delete the prior image. Jax MN (talk) 18:49, 16 March 2023 (UTC)

Question on Non-free (fair-use) images

@JJMC89: Hi, you wrote "Removed WP:NFCC violation(s). Non-free files are only permitted in articles." Just want to check with you that once a draft becomes an article, then the non-free image (which you removed) can be used in that article. Is that correct? Thanks. Egm4313.s12 (talk) 01:23, 4 March 2023 (UTC)

I didn't. It was an automated removal. Without any context, I cannot answer your question. — JJMC89 02:23, 11 March 2023 (UTC)
Ok, now I am writing to a real person. I am working on a draft article at Draft:Nguyen Ngoc Bich, and will use the non-free (fair-use) image File:Nguyen Ngoc Bich 1962.png in the summary column on the right. Could you prevent the bot from removing this image so I can include it in the final article, which should be completed in a few days? Otherwise, I would have to upload the image again. Thanks. Egm4313.s12 (talk) 15:25, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
(talk page watcher) @Egm4313.s12: Files that are deleted aren't gone forever; they're only hidden from public view and can't be restored at a later date if the issue that led to their deletion are subsequently resolved. So, if the file is deleted before the draft is approved as an article, you won't need to upload it again; all you will need to do is ask the deleting administrator or any administrator to WP:REFUND the file. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:16, 16 March 2023 (UTC); [Note: Post edited by Marchjuly to change "can't" to "can" per below. -- 21:38, 16 March 2023 (UTC)]
@Marchjuly: Great, thanks. There was a typo in your reply above: You surely meant to write "... from public view and CAN be restored ...". There is a problem: The person who owns the bot is "99% retired". Egm4313.s12 (talk) 13:36, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
I'm not – just busy with non-Wikipedia things. No, the bot will continue to remove it since it is a policy violation to use non-free files in a draft. — JJMC89 15:17, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
Yes, "can't" was a mistake and it should've been "can". My apologies for that. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:38, 16 March 2023 (UTC)

Need help with template documentation

I have no experience with creating sidebar templates or documentation. I'd really appreciate your help, starting here. I am working on a subpage right now. -- Valjean (talk) (PING me) 19:06, 3 March 2023 (UTC)

I see why you asked me, but I only moved the existing documentation. — JJMC89 02:23, 11 March 2023 (UTC)
?? I'm asking for help with a different template currently located in my user space. It has no documentation at all. -- Valjean (talk) (PING me) 02:34, 11 March 2023 (UTC)
Sorry I wasn't clear. I pointed that out to say that I don't either. If you just go ahead and create the template, I could take a look at the documentation after. — JJMC89 02:38, 11 March 2023 (UTC)
Oh! Does that mean I won't get in trouble for creating and going public with a template that lacks documentation? Will you be able to do it then? If so, I'll do it. Let me know. -- Valjean (talk) (PING me) 00:47, 12 March 2023 (UTC)
I'm waiting for a response. -- Valjean (talk) (PING me) 01:52, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
No, you won't. Let me know after you create it, and I will take a look. — JJMC89 15:17, 16 March 2023 (UTC)

Okay, I have moved it so it is now an official template. See Template:Trump–Russia relations. Now it needs documentation. -- Valjean (talk) (PING me) 15:47, 16 March 2023 (UTC)

Thanks so much for your help! -- Valjean (talk) (PING me) 02:47, 17 March 2023 (UTC)

Help clarifying WP:INACTIVE, pending suspension notification

Hi there. I'm a returning admin, trying to make a concerted effort to maintain a consistent engagement w/ the project (rather than token edits, as the JJMC89_bot notifications allude to). Time will tell if I succeed, but I wanted to reach out to someone for clarification re: WP:INACTIVE and the associated notifications on my talk page. I apologize if you're not the right person to bother about this; but given that the notifying bot is yours, and that you've also edited the WP:INACTIVE page, I figured it would be appropriate.

I am listed on WP:INACTIVE as having my privileges revoked as of June 1. The bot notification from March 1 states that this will happen if I "... do not return to activity within the next month." Does this mean that any activity is enough to avoid the revocation? Or, do I need to make enough edits before June 1 to meet the "100 edits over a 60-month period" threshold as well?

In either event, do you know an easy way to see whether I've met the threshold? And is there somewhere I can declare my 'reactivation' or is simply editing enough of an action on my part?

Apologies again for the bother; but I do want to make an honest effort to re-engage, despite any personal time constraints. Thanks! --Hadal (talk) 21:21, 19 March 2023 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Hi, Hadal. I notice JJMC89 hasn't edited for several days. You may get a quicker answer, from an actual bureaucrat, by asking on this well-watched noticeboard. Bishonen | tålk 22:53, 19 March 2023 (UTC).
@Hadal: You were listed under April 2023 for criterion 1 of the activity requirements (no edits or logged actions for one year). Now that you have edited, you were removed. You don't need to do anything else. The 100 edits over 60 months is for criterion 2, which you aren't listed under. If you were, you would need to make enough edits to make it to 100. The yearly WP:INACTIVE pages are updated daily to remove admins that are no longer considered inactive and update edit counts for criterion 2. — JJMC89 01:00, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
@JJMC89 and Bishonen: Thank you JJMC89 for the fulsome explanation! And thank you Bishonen for the tip for the future, re: the noticeboard. It's good to be back! --Hadal (talk) 15:26, 20 March 2023 (UTC)

Brazillian Socialist Party logos

Hi JJMC89. Would you mind taking a look at File:Brazilian Socialist Party logo.png and File:Logo of the Brazilian Socialist Party.svg? The png was uploaded locally as {{PD-logo}} in February 2020 and the svg was uploaded as non-free content a few days ago. The files seem identical except for their format, and there's really no need for them both. Personally, I don't the png is even close to being "PD-logo" per c:COM:TOO US, but maybe there's another reason it's PD besides TOO per c:COM:Brazil. If the svg is the one that needs to be kept, then it probably fails multiple NFCCP in the various election articles. FWIW, I only stumbled upon this because the svg showed up as a "high use NFCC" since it was used to replace the png in some election articles. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:37, 23 March 2023 (UTC)

I don't see how the logo would be below TOO. Both were originally uploaded as non-free but the png was changed to PD by someone who doesn't understand. I've cleaned up the violations and tagged the png for deletion. — JJMC89 05:56, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for looking into this. I didn't catch that the png had been originally uploaded as non-free. There's certainly no need for two non-free files in that case. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:29, 23 March 2023 (UTC)

What is this thing. Why is it "failing to remove files" on my user page and subpages.

why is it even looking at my user page and subpages. what is the purpose of this bot and why is it after me thepurplemage (talk!) 09:45, 25 March 2023 (UTC)

It was looking for the multiple policy violations that you had on those pages. Since you introduced those violations via transclusion, it did not find them when parsing the wikitext. P.S. Watch yourself. — JJMC89 02:28, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
