Jumping Mustangs

I have having trouble remembering whether it was 1-8 or 1-9 Cav that had this nickname going into the Ia Drang. Does the battalion still carry that nickname? Buckshot06 (talk) 01:39, 14 February 2023 (UTC)

Jumping Mustangs was 1-8 Cav. I think they just refer to themselves as the Mustang Battalion now. They were Jumping Mustangs in Vietnam because they were originally airborne-qualified as part of the original airmobile division concept. Intothatdarkness 02:56, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
Many thanks for the instant answer!! You mean 11 AAD (T) --> 1st Cav Div originally had everybody airborne qualified despite the concept calling for then to be Huey-inserted? Buckshot06 (talk) 03:23, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
The original concept for the 1st Cav Division was to have one brigade airborne-qualified in addition to airmobile (allowing for a touch more mobility in theory...personally I think it had more to do with the fact that many division leaders were airborne themselves). That was abandoned pretty quickly once the 173rd Abn Brigade arrived in SVN, as keeping it, the 82nd, and 101st all filled with paratroopers was difficult enough. Intothatdarkness 03:43, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
Almost a pity. When I first read whatever book it was that started sketching in 1st Cav in Vietnam I was really taken with that battalion nickname without knowing what it referred to - possibly the mental picture of guys debusing from the helicopters.. Buckshot06 (talk) 19:54, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
I think they kept the nickname throughout the Vietnam War. When they converted the Cav to an armored division (or maybe the earlier TRICAP period even) is likely when it reverted to the Mustangs. Intothatdarkness 21:06, 14 February 2023 (UTC)

Iron Maiden's site security

Hi. I would like to thank you for your help in editing the Iron Maiden band’s Wikipedia page. In recent days there has been an act of vandalism and deletion of data without any discussion or reflection. This was done by an unregistered user, which has happened many times in the past. Since I don't have the proper permissions (I'm not an administrator) and I don't know many tools available on the Wiki, I need help in protecting the Band’s site from such incidents. Can the page be secured in a similar way as in the case of other thematic pages? I think it would be worth doing to prevent similar situations from happening again in the future. If you can, help solve this problem. Once again - many thanks! ~~ RALFFPL (talk) 11:46, 19 April 2023 (UTC)

It can be, but you'd need to request that from an Admin. I believe you can request semi-protection on the talk page, which should prevent unregistered users from making changes. Intothatdarkness 12:18, 19 April 2023 (UTC)

Note from HughMills

I very much appreciate your putting my data on Wikipedia, but would make one correction. My air metal count is 70 not seven Hugh Mills, hmills16@aol.com Hmills16 (talk) 21:39, 20 April 2023 (UTC)

I didn't add the medal data, but will review and make any corrections needed provided they can be properly sourced. I'm still working on improving the article as well. Intothatdarkness 21:41, 20 April 2023 (UTC)

Reverting my edits without cause

You seem to be on a power trip and are repeatedly reverting my edits. If you have a problem with some of my edits, you should tell me on my talk page or the talk page of whatever article I made the edit on. DiSantis19 (talk) 02:34, 16 July 2023 (UTC)

Nope. I'm removing things that aren't relevant. There's no connection between the two men you listed as see also aside from the fact they served in Vietnam. They didn't serve in the same units, and don't even appear to have been in the same part of Vietnam at the same time. And you could at least comment using the account that made the changes in question. Intothatdarkness 14:36, 16 July 2023 (UTC)

Iron Maiden discography in infobox

May I ask, why do you keep removing the Iron Maiden discography link in the infobox? Please stop doing that. Thank you. 174.243.155.189 (talk) 14:55, 19 September 2023 (UTC)

Take it to the article talk page if you want to include it. There hasn't been a link there before, and Maiden's infobox is much busier than the other bands you mentioned. A change like that should be discussed, so please stop adding it before discussing. Intothatdarkness 21:19, 19 September 2023 (UTC)

Iron Maiden in the Guinness Book of Records

Hi! Thanks for your additions and your great help in making Iron Maiden article better. I must say, it's not so clear to me why we couldn't mention about Maiden's recognition in Guinness Book of Records? I think it's important and interesting 'cos this band and their fans were mentioned in the book a few times. In my humble opinion it's not just a trivia. THX ~~ RALFFPL (talk) 13:40, 27 December 2023 (UTC)

I took it out because you didn't say what they were entered into the Guinness Book for doing or accomplishing. Just saying they're in there is trivia unless you can say why or what they were added for. We don't want to get too much of this kind of thing in the article, as it's often seen by others as trivia.
