Orphaned non-free image File:European album Back from Rio cover.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:European album Back from Rio cover.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk 06:44, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

RFC courtesy notice - succession boxes

As someone who has taken part in previous discussions regarding the use of succession boxes in articles for songs and albums, I'd like to notify you of a request for comment that is taking place at WT:CHARTS#Request for comment: Use of succession boxes. It would be nice to finally come to a resolution on this. If you have already participated in this RFC or do not wish to participate, then please disregard this notice. Review site: Metal Storm

Hello there,

Thanks for your support on behalf of Metal Storm in the WikiProject Albums discussion. As I see we are at the same point as half a year ago, one person pro, one person with COI and that's it. What would be necessary to get the whole procedure rolling again? What would the whole procedure be actually?

Cheers, Promonex (talk) 14:33, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

There is no other "procedure" than WP:CONS. You have argued well for your case. I have added a message to the thread asking for a third opinion. Hopefully someone will chirp in. – IbLeo(talk) 17:32, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
Hi again,
As there are three favorable votes now, would the consensus be accepted as reached? I've made a final post suggesting to accept the proposition until it might get challenged at a later point, and also provided the template how it could be accepted into the list - I don't want to add it myself though for obvious reasons. I'd also like to point out that no canvassing has taken place by bringing LordNecronus into the discussion. He's a new user to Metal Storm and has contacted me about the rules for user-submitted content in regards of sources and verifiability stating that he's somewhat anxious as he's been a two-year contributor to Wikipedia already. Being longer with WP than with MS I thought it would be acceptable to point him to this discussion (unlike most users on the talk page of Metal Storm (webzine) who are clearly biased). If necessary I can send you screenshots of our conversation in case you need to be convinced of the neutrality of my notification. Thanks for your time.
Cheers, Promonex (talk) 16:10, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

Request for help on Talk pages

Please help. Made many mistakes trying to leave a talk message. First left note on talk page of article then saw special post about the group trying to improve music. Then trying to fix my note I ended up with several copies of nearly same note - last had more info. Am sorry for my disastrous attempt at creating note on talk pages that turned into many notes. Would have made direct change I referenced but did not want to pretend to be music expert (I am news reporter). Also - I clicked on signature - - then added my name between the to dashes - is that correct protocol? -Yoopernewsman-Yoopernewsman (talk) 03:29, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

Other MOS guidelines

I would prefer you to not represent the current discussion as a decision to ignore some sub-sets of MOS project guidelines. It is actually a discussion centred on the fact that rolling out WP:ALBUMCAPS without thinking about it or applying logic or applying consistency or applying WP:V or using WP:RS is incorrect. However, you are entitled to represent this discussion however you like, but it would be better if you left messages more neutrally and factually accurate. Having said that, the more the merrier! The Rambling Man (talk) 21:17, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

Re message to Germany folks, thank you! The Rambling Man (talk) 21:25, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

I'm also hoping you'll be able to answer the questions about WP:ALBUM that I left on the talk page. I think it's important that a style guideline (or whatever it is) is internally consistent and doesn't present conflicting advice. The Rambling Man (talk) 21:21, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

You guys asks so many questions that it's hard for me to keep up. So I am trying to attract some attention from other people with a foreign background. Sorry if I didn't present the discussion in a neutral way, this was unintended. – IbLeo(talk) 21:26, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
As I said above, thanks for changing the tone of your messages. The more the merrier, but I would appreciate answers to the inconsistencies I think I've found on the page, when you get time. The Rambling Man (talk) 21:32, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
Slowly getting there :-) – IbLeo(talk) 21:36, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
Cool, I appreciate it. The Rambling Man (talk) 21:40, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
Also, if it helps, this should show you the questions, points, etc that I raised... Cheers! The Rambling Man (talk) 21:47, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

Help on uploading images on Commons

Hi IbLeo,

You recently helped me with something - and yesterday I added some photos to wiki.

Only my second time (the other was two years ago) - and I have others photos I want to load to different pages (I am a news reporter and I own my photos/video).

Could you please check the "Gallery" I set up for the Lois Gibbs page - and make sure I did it correctly. I'm completely open to suggestions - but may have to be walked through the corrections - and suggestions.

Want to learn how to do it - but am really an amateur at this - and at this point feel like lots of the symbols are confusing.

    • For example - notice Pix #3 below - it ended up on two pages - instead of one like the rest. (what did I do wrong?)

Would like to add additional photos to a couple other pages in next week or so.

    • By the way - on every upload I did choose creative commons attribution/sharealike 3.0 - but in every upload - I got message I had not selected it or anything ref. license (when I am sure I had) - and then I had to do CC 3.0 selections again (no big deal just confused why it didn't take first time) - plus in most cases the system slightly renamed file.

(again no biggie and was grateful system did renaming for me).

Question #1 How does one decide to do gallery - or instead make one of those photos boxes on right side of page? (Did gallery because it was easiest)

Question #2 Please explain things in detail (sorry while I have done lots of html - mostly just the basics).

Question #3 Also - is it correctly to put abbreviation for Michigan as "MI" or "Mich." - or write out full word.

Question #4 For all the photos I originally wrote a little longer description (7 or 8 sentences) - then shortened it - how long should I make descriptions?

Also

Sincerely, Greg Peterson or yoopernewsman (or my full name) in Negaunee, MI on free Skype.

WP Albums in the Signpost

"WikiProject Report" would like to focus on WikiProject Albums for a Signpost article. This is an excellent opportunity to draw attention to your efforts and attract new members to the project. Would you be willing to participate in an interview? If so, here are the questions for the interview. Just add your response below each question and feel free to skip any questions that you don't feel comfortable answering. Other editors will also have an opportunity to respond to the interview questions. If you know anyone else who would like to participate in the interview, please share this with them. Have a great day. -Mabeenot (talk) 00:09, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

Where/how can I suggest a publication to be included as a Source of music reviews

This help request has been answered. If you need more help, place a new {{help me}} request on this page followed by your questions, contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse.

As stated in my subject, where/how do I suggest adding a publication as a Source of music reviews?

I don't think WikiProject Music maintains a list of likely sources, but you could raise the issue at their talk page. WT:WikiProject Albums would also be an appropriate place to raise the issue, but not by adding a category, but by adding a new section via the "new section" tab at the top of the page. ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 09:05, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
