Daily Radar edit

Sorry, this is a case where I have never heard of this company in the first place. Dyl July 5, 2005 19:52 (UTC)

That's OK, it doesn't matter too much. In the future, hopefully enough people will join wikipedia, so atleast one of them knows more about Daily Radar than I do. :) -Hyad July 5, 2005 21:02 (UTC)

Please fix Pearle to recognize Template:Future game edit

Yup, a few people pointed that out. I did manage to fix it and test it on the few remaining articles in that category which hadn't already been frobbed. Thanks for your attention to detail. -- Beland 02:17, 12 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Ok. At least Pearle is better than some other bots that convert American to English [1]. -Hyad 02:30, August 12, 2005 (UTC)

Listing criteria for software pages edit

As we have so many Lists of software and Software comparisons, would it be worth setting up a single page somewhere where people can discuss a consistant policy on what to add? Or is there already such a page? Ojw 17:17, 19 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Oh, I don't know if there is such a page already - you might want to talk on the Category:Software comparison page. If you are refering to my edits on the Comparison of bitmap graphics editors, then you could discuss stuff there or have it on my talk page. I was only trying to make sure the Comparison of bitmap graphics editors doesn't become a List of bitmap graphics editors. I really love the the page - cause I want to get into editing photos myself - but there seemed to be too many choses and not enough descriptions. That leaves the average person looking at the page very confused about what is a good photo editor they can use. (BTW, I commented out the old links - I did not delete them - in case you want to be able to put some of them back onto that page.) The Comparison of handheld gaming consoles is a good example of what a comparison page should be like. -Hyad 22:09, August 19, 2005 (UTC)

MGS4's expected release date edit

Regarding your edit to the Metal Gear Solid 4 page (and question in the history):

Since Metal Gear Solid, each game has been released three years apart. MGS in late 1998, MGS2 in late 2001, then MGS3 in late 2004. The next game's expected to follow the pattern; nothing official's been given by Konami regarding the release yet, but it is true that MGS4 is "expected to be released in late 2007." - DoubleCross 17:02, 17 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

There is a free software portal edit

Hi, I just saw your comment on that talk page of the free software article about starting a portal. I started a free software portal about 2 weeks ago, but I've got busy and haven't developed it much. Here it is: Portal:Free_software. Java Programming/Spring framework is pretty snappy! edit

I just finished reading your wikibooks entry on Spring framework and thought it was pretty good! It was nice and succinct. I have been tinkering with it at work for the past two weeks and am convinced that along with Eclipse, Visual Editor, and Hibernate via Spring Framework, that building well architected applications is easier than ever before. I also linked to it from my own web page. --Gregturn 23:50, 14 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Spring framework edit

Thanks for the quick Spring introduction. I'm diving into Spring now after a long stint away from Java and it was nice to be able to run through a quick tutorial, get a real result, and see why it was all worthwhile. Inanutshellus 22:00, 14 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wow! this is pretty neat. I was going through the recommended book for Spring, but could not find a simple enough example. This makes the idea of using Spring framework very clear for a beginner like me. vichlu

As you said, this is the Tutorial one expects to find when looking for something that just shows you what Spring is. Very good job !! Miguel from Spain. 16-Nov-2009

Many thanks for your tutorial. I have a job interview and a quick update in what Spring is supposed to be and how it is supposed to work is extremely useful to me. 79.148.212.102 (talk) 08:38, 7 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks...I read this while at a spring lecture and this was faster and easier to comprehend

Unspecified source for Image:Ed_Bradley_2.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Ed_Bradley_2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 06:50, 29 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 06:50, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:Duplo logo.gif listed for deletion edit

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Duplo logo.gif, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Duplo logo.gif) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Duplo logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:06, 15 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:FreeGmailBySearchingGoogle-small.png edit

Thanks for uploading Image:FreeGmailBySearchingGoogle-small.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:49, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject Java and Portal edit

I recently posted the following text on Wikipedia regarding the creation of a new computing-related project:

'WikiProject Java is a Wikipedian community that aims to better organize information in articles related to the Java programming language and its platform.

  • If I'm cor-rec-to, there are about 900 articles on Java technology in Wikipedia, which may be more than ALL other programming languages articles combined...
  • At least, it's more than for C++, and there IS a C++ WikiProject...
  • And it's MUCH more than the .NET WikiProject with 82 articles...
  • There is also a Ruby project and a Python portal so...
  • Now you can also see a proposal for the Java Portal (temp location).'

Thanks for letting me know Alain. I definitely support the project. However, I'm not sure if I can do much editing on my part. I was on Wikipedia a lot back in 2005, but since then I hardly log in any more. The real world needs me (and probably you as well)! -Hyad (talk) 00:18, 2 November 2009 (UTC) P.S. Hi Hyad, and thanks for your support of the WikiProject Java. But as soon a we reached 5 supporters, we could proceed with the groundwork for releasing the project and portal in the open these last days. So I would appreciate it very much if you could copy your name in the List of participants page (even if your implication will be minimal). Thank you (your link is hilarious, I put it on my user page),

Proposed deletion of GMail Drive edit

The article GMail Drive has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unremarkable software add on that is neither official nor appropriate as it appears to be against Google's terms of service. No significant coverage in reliable, third-party sources.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 01:13, 15 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:Ed Bradley 2.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Ed Bradley 2.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:44, 5 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
