A dispatch from the midden

edit
  The Epic Barnstar
Hemmingsen, Thank you for your follow through on my Comer's midden help request. Comer's Midden is a very interesting article, on an important archaeological find, and I agree it should stand on its own, rather than incorporating the material into any of the explorer biographies associated with the midden. Btw, I'm nominating your article for DYK. --Rosiestep (talk) 05:39, 4 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

RfA thank-spam

edit

Hemmingsen/Archive 3, just a note of appreciation for your recent support of my request for adminship, which ended successfully with 112 supports, 2 opposes, and 1 neutral. If there's something I've realized during my RFA process this last week, it's that adminship is primarily about trust. I will strive to honour that trust in my future interactions with the community. Many thanks! Gatoclass (talk) 06:26, 17 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

RfA thanks!

  RfA: Many thanks
Many thanks for your participation in my recent request for adminship. I am impressed by the amount of thought that goes into people's contribution to the RfA process, and humbled that so many have chosen to trust me with this new responsibility. I step into this new role cautiously, but will do my very best to live up to your kind words and expectations, and to further the project of the encyclopedia. Again, thank you. --jbmurray (talkcontribs) 05:58, 18 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please list your qualifications for you being able to make any legal judgement as to the legality of publishing her name on Wikipedia or not. FYI the name has been listed in the Danish press and is now in the public domain. --Law Lord (talk) 14:11, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

If you could perhaps list all your reasons in a numbered order, I may be able to understand your reasoning. Are you opposed to an article about her in general or just opposed to the specific article, which was deleted? --Law Lord (talk) 17:17, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi Hemmingsen, and thanks for supporting my successful request for adminship. It was nice to see all the kind comments I got from my supporters and I hope that I will be more useful to the community now that I have the tools again.--Berig (talk) 15:13, 1 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Anon IP additions you reverted

edit

Thanks for reverting the Anon IP additions to various articles such as National Liberal Party (Denmark). In case this user tries again, I should point out that those links are worse than spam - they point to bogus sites. For instance at Liberal National Party of Queensland he's been replacing http://www.lnp.org.au/ (the official party site) with http://www dot liberalnationalparty dot com , a bogus site (probably owned by the spammer). Peter Ballard (talk) 10:40, 18 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, we definitely don't want to keep those links around. If he returns to add them again, we should ask an administrator to block him or get the link added to the spam blacklist. Hemmingsen 17:26, 18 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Tak for din tid! Mike H. Fierce! 08:42, 20 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Pronunciation

edit

I've corrected it to the correct spelling. I recommend you move the original file to the correct spelling also :). Cheers — Deon555talkI'm BACK! 06:56, 5 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wouldn't it be a better idea to move the file before changing the link? Currently the article links to a file that doesn't exist and that isn't particularly helpful. And does it really matter much if a filename is misspelled (it isn't visible to the reader, only to editors)? Hemmingsen 07:04, 5 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Since another editor has uploaded the file with the other spelling, my previous reply is safe to ignore. Hemmingsen 07:35, 5 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Aage Niels Bohr

edit

Hi,

A couple years ago, you transcribed the ge in Aage as a [ʊ] that was simultaneously syllabic and non-syllabic. Could you explain what you meant?

Thanks, kwami (talk) 01:37, 6 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Oh, dear. I guess I was confusing myself there. As I remember it, I was a pronunciation dictionary in modified dania with a guide for converting to ipa, which I no longer have around, and I guess I read it wrong. I'm fairly certain I meant the syllabic one, but I'm no longer quite sure about the proper symbol. I'll upload an audio recording in a moment, that should explain it more clearly than I'm able to do in ipa. Thanks for asking me about it. Hemmingsen 15:43, 6 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Uploaded. Can you make more sense of the audio than the transcription? Hemmingsen 15:59, 6 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
It sounds very close to the transcription, obviously nothing drastically different like the ge being syllabic, but Danish is not an easy language for the ignorant to transcribe by ear. I'm wondering if the extra mark was supposed to be stress for the Niels? (It sounds as stressed as the Bohr.) Anyway, I restored the transcription, as I think it's gotta be almost right. kwami (talk) 17:35, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
That does make sense. I don't remember quite what I was thinking back then, but mistaking a stress mark for something else does sound like an error I could have made. Hemmingsen 04:40, 10 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Denmark-Mexico relations

edit

Your help could be used in Denmark–Mexico relations. The article needs help with sourcing and your skills could help, especially if you can help with Danish sources. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 13:51, 8 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for asking, but I'm not sure I have anything worth adding. And I think I prefer to stay out of the bilateral relations notability debates until the whole thing quiets down. So, sorry, but I won't be much help on this one. Hemmingsen 16:08, 15 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
