Citing yourself, other problems

edit

Hello, HecquetK, and welcome to Wikipedia. I am JohnFromPinckney. I wanted to let you know I have reverted your edits to Voting advice application, for a number of reasons. One item is the exceptional use of external links within the prose, something we generally do not do here (although it is certainly the usual, helpful way of writing on other websites). I was trying to convert the links to smartvote and the VG VAA into references, but I realized before I published that they did not actually verify the numbers of questions you stated in your added text. It seems we have/had no sources for those figures, nor the "most have between 25 and 35 statements" claim, so we have a lot of unsourced material, which is another reason for removal.

Also tricky is your addition of articles apparently written by yourself as references. You added in three places identical citations to "Sådan har vi lavet kandidattesten", an article written by Kristoffer Hecquet. Is that you? If it is (and you needn't explicitly out yourself here!), then it appears inappropriate to be doing these kinds of edits, as it may go against WP:SELFCITE. Could you please read through that section (and indeed, all of the WP:COI page and make sure you're conforming to our guideline?

I don't require or expect a response here, and you are welcome to delete this section especially if you are uncomfortable about possibly revealing your RL identity. (Further, an admin can RevDel the entry so non-admin users can't ever see the contents.) I just wanted to explain my reversion and request that you pay good attention to our guidelines. Happy editing,— JohnFromPinckney (talk / edits) 02:03, 9 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
