File:Hunzeker official photo 2015.jpg edit

I'm very sorry, but there are problems with the licensing of this photograph. I'm not trying to be obstructionist to you, but rather help you. Please bear with me here. Near as one can tell, this image comes from Vectrus, and is copyrighted. The meta data on the image shows that it is copyrighted to David Wiegold, and all rights are reserved. Unless you can prove that you personally are David Wiegold, then we have to presume this image was taken from Vectrus/David Wiegold without permission. In order for this to work, you need to carefully follow the instructions shown at Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries. If you have questions about this process, I'd be happy to answer. Hi Hammersoft: This is a corporate photo done by a professional photographer and then released for use by the corporation. You find it in all the marketing collateral for the corporation and on the corporate website. While the metadata contains the photographers info, the photo was take 5 years ago prior to the company spinning out and re-naming itself. I am not sure how to account for it in the Wikipedia rules. As a member of the corporation, we use the photograph regularly because we have permission to. I just don't know how to document that for Wikipedia. Any suggestions?   • Yeah, this is highly problematic. I see the image was done by a professional studio. Professional studios usually (not always, but usually) retain copyrights to the photographs they take. I strongly suspect this studio has retained rights, as they took the time to embed this information into the photograph's metadata. Even though the photographer granted your company permission to use the photo, this does not release it of copyrights...even though the photo is widely distributed. I'm very sorry, but we simply can't accept this photograph without a notice of release from the studio.
  • However, there's good news here. You work at the company; presumably you see this man on a regular basis. Take a photograph of him, or have his personal assistant (dare I say 'dog robber'; he will know that meaning :)) do so. The easiest route to do this is to take such a photograph on your own time, not while you are being paid by Vectrus for your time (a lunch break?). Else, the image belongs to Vectrus and we need a specific release from Vectrus. Whereas, if you take the photograph on your own time the rights to the image are held entirely by you, and you can license tag the image as you have done with File:Hunzeker official photo 2015.jpg. The File:Hunzeker official photo 2015.jpg needs to be deleted. However, I'm going to hold off for a day before tagging it for deletion, so you can see what I mean about the tagging of the image.

  Hello Grhynedance. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic. Hi Hammersoft. Thanks for your feedback. I'm a new user, trying to create an entry for a corporation CEO. I actually work at the corporation and the entry is about our Chief Executive Officer. He is an industry leader and a public figure who is not currently included in Wikipedia. The whole process of creating and publishing is confusing and difficult, so any assistance or guidance you can provide would be helpful.   • I'm happy to work with you. However, you must understand our position; we are an encyclopedia, not a medium for companies to advertise themselves and/or their products. Even a corporate biography can be seen as that. Indeed, in this very sandbox article you've created, you've lifted content from an outside source that reads like advertising copy; "Vectrus is a leading, global government services company...". We do not write articles like that. Wikipedia is neutral in tone. Nevermind that this text is a copyright violation; even though it comes from your corporation [1] we can not use it without explicit release from your company, and even if we had that release we wouldn't use it as it is not neutral in tone. Further, certainly you feel he is notable, and understandably so. But, this devolves from your well meaning conflict of interest as you are an employee of the company. We have to rely on secondary sources to support the notability of an individual. You should review Wikipedia:Notability_(people)#Basic_criteria. Looking in Google News, there's not much to work with outside of vectrus.com sources. See this search result. It's possible there are other secondary sources attesting to this gentleman's notability that have not been picked up in that search. I'm sorry this is so arcane. I really am. Hi Hammersoft: Couple of questions (and I appreciate your time). First, notability. The subject of this entry is a former three-star General Officer in the U.S. Army who commanded large (Division and Corps-level) units. I believe that meets the military notability criteria for wikipedia. On top of that, he is the CEO of a fairly large (Billion $ +) defense corporation. Here are a couple of second source links that I would use as references for the article: http://gazette.com/contracts-old-and-new-fuel-colorado-springs-newest-public-company/article/1538504; http://www.csbj.com/2015/10/27/vectrus-ceo-draws-on-military-expertise/; Wikipedia entry "Exelis Inc". Second, marketing: I get it on the marketing terminology. We use it like we are talking when we describe the company, and since this really isn't about the company, I can clean that up. It is a pleasure working with you, and I appreciate your willingness to work with us. Addressing several points:
  1. Ok, based on him having been a three-star general, the appropriate guideline is WP:MILPEOPLE, which in one of its points says "Held a rank considered to be a flag, general or air officer" Therefore, by that guideline he passes our notability guidelines. Great!
  2. Ok, for secondary sources to the article...the gazette.com article is only about Vectrus, and not about Mr. Hunzeker. Thus, as a secondary source to support an article about him it has little or no value. The CSBJ article is more useful, but supporting a biography of a living person (the local term here is "BLP") with a single secondary source is potentially problematic. I think you're wanting a biography of the CEO of Vectrus, and what we really need to do as an encyclopedia is write the biography of Mr. Hunzeker, which includes a (so far short, relative to total career) term as CEO of Vectrus. I think a fundamental rewrite is in order to achieve this goal.
  3. Yes, internal language a company uses about itself is often stilted in marketing terms. Wikipedia does it too. But, we do try to avoid peacock terms for example.
  4. On paid editing; yes, our conflict of interest guideline contains the following: "[paid editors should] suggest changes on the talk page and must disclose their COI". I.e., you should cease editing of the draft, as you have a direct conflict of interest, and must place the "{{paid}}" tag on your user page. The latter is an absolute requirement; failure to do so may lead an administrator here to block you. It is imperative you do this.
I've removed the AfC template from the draft. This will allow us time to rewrite and develop this article. While it is in draft form, please by all means feel free to edit Draft:Kenneth W. Hunzeker, but when this draft goes live you really need to not edit the actual article, which will eventually be at Kenneth W. Hunzeker. While we are working on the draft, please understand that I will be editing the text you place in the article (and I expect you to do the same with mine). I'm sure we can work cooperatively to achieve the best ends here.

Hi Hammersoft. I'm back! I took your advice and re-wrote the research from Mr. Hunzeker's military career perspective and have updated the file as such. I need to add footnotes for the source material and will clean up the sources cited section and add some of the other items later today. Am I on a better path now for this entry? I am still working the picture issue, but I would like to add some additional information in the box under the photo that don't necessarily match the entry sections. I have copied them in below. Some immediate issues:
  • Biographies of living persons are subject to particularly strict requirements of citations. They need inline citations to clarify which of the references support which of the article's statements; merely listing the references at the end is not enough. See WP:Referencing for beginners on how to easily create nicely-formatted footnotes for your references.
  • Some of the references are less than reliable, including press releases and Wikipedia itself.

I have re-added the draft messagebox that contains instructions on how to submit the draft for a review. Before you do so, you should probably double-check the references to make sure the entire content is based on reliable third-party sources. Quite a few of the references look more like press releases published by the Army to me, and some content, for example on his family, seems not based on the given sources at all. I see the comments. I will continue to work on the citations and resubmit now that the notability issue has been completed. I also see the notes from the other editors. By the way, I have been learning along the way. Initially we thought the subject would be notable based on his business credentials, but he is not and we understand why. He is notable from his many years in the Army and his attained rank of Lieutenant General, so the corporate photo is an artifact from earlier, less informed work. Thanks for your help, I'll keep working on it.Grhynedance (talk) 14:55, 6 March 2016 (UTC) One other item for clarification please. You refer to his CV in your notes. What I have attached as a source and relied on heavily is his biography as maintained by the Army's General Officer Management Office. The subject does not write this biography, it is taken, by the Army, from the individuals Army Service Record and replicated for every general officer in the same form and format. It is available as a matter of public record by contacting the Army... for any serving or retired officer that attained flag rank. How do I contact the author of this comment on my draft page? "Comment: I can put together the awards and decorations bit, but I need 3 questions answered first- #1. How did he, as a commissioned officer, get the Army Good Conduct Medal, which is an enlisted award? Was he a mustang? (If so that should be mentioned in the text) #2. Which NATO Medal? & #3.
