Speedy declined

Hi. I've declined the speedy deletion nomination for Bronwen Weber, as notability is both asserted and demonstrated (the awards, and references to back it up). As a reminder, speedy deletion should only be used when there is no credible assertion of notability; it doesn't even need to be referenced. In this instance, winning a national competition is a sufficient assertion of notability. For full details, read WP:CSD#A7.

If you still believe the article should be deleted, then you should use WP:AFD. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Stephen! Coming... 10:23, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Painter's Crossing

Hello - I see you are watching my new article on Painter's Crossing. I'm a total newbie here - I'll freely admit I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to the creation of articles. Maybe you could help the article out a bit, help me out a bit. Anyway, as to notability - the area of Painter's Crossing is adjacent to the Brandywine Battlefield in Pennsylvania. Several business and homes are named after Painter's Crossing, few know why the area is named Painter's Crossing and so I figured I'd do some research and put an article together. I think for everyone living in that area, it is definitely notable considering that everything is named "Painter's Crossing." And it was part of the battle of the Brandywine and played a part in the stragegy of one of the generals there, Wayne. So how do we establish this is indeed notable?

Thanks! --Heathercreature talk 9 February 2012

Hey, Gourami Watcher, thanks for pointing me in the right direction concerning my signatures! This is a talk page, so I shall do the honours. ;) Aleksandar Bulovic' (talk) 17:29, 20 February 2012 (UTC) Thanks again! Aleks

Wrong speed criterion

You tagged Jan de koe with a {{db-foreign}} tag. This tag is only valid if the article already exists on the Wikipedia of a different language (one would search the Dutch Wikipedia in this case). Since no such article exists there, A2 is not the proper criterion for this article. However A7 fits nicely (and so tagged). WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:31, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for this information. I will be sure to remember this the next time I request a speedy. --GouramiWatcher (Gulp) 01:35, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

Your Edit on The Voice (TV series)

Please notice that malaysian tv show Vokali is not an offical part of the franchise but only an unlicensed rip-off that also slightly differs in its format (having a guest judge, no four coaches, no battles rounds, no teams etc.) so it clearly should not be listed among the international adaptations. thanks! First National Channel (Belarus)

Speedy criterion A1 is only when there is not enough information to tell what the article about. This article, scanty as it is, is clearly about a tv channel in Belarus. Speedy criteria are used narrowly. DGG ( talk ) 22:27, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

I'm Sorry!

When i edited the Lady Gaga page, it was an April Fool's Day joke, after all, you are supposed to make pranks. What happened to Music of The Vampire was an accident, the grammar was very bad, so i tried to start over, but i'm only 11 and can't make major edits. So i"m very sorry and did not mean to offend you of Wikipedia, and i will never vandalize, accidentally or purposely, again. Plmnji (talk) 21:49, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for your concern. But unfortunately on Wikipedia, jokes are not allowed on everyday articles like Lady Gaga. Please read WP:What Wikipedia is not for a few guidelines about Wikipedia. --GouramiWatcher (Gulp) 01:01, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Ximan & Xeeb

Hello Gourami Watcher. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Ximan & Xeeb, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: There is sufficient context to identify the subject of the article. Thank you. Nikkimaria (talk) 03:18, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Susan Foster

I understand what you are saying but my article is not an ad in any way! I have several references to back up the page. It is a profile on a jewelry designer and all of the info is factual and unbiased! I worked so hard on this. Please put back up!

That was in referece to my page on susan foster. -Alisonpollack talk 12 April 2012

Wikipedia has certain policies that articles of that type, which only seemed to promote your subject as well as not having a neutral point of view (even though there were references). I cannot restore your article because I am not an administrator, I only requested deletion. Please read Wikipedia:Your First Article for some tips on making a successful article. --GouramiWatcher (Gulp) 23:45, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

In regards to the article on susan foster, can i have it emailed to me? I'm happy to comply to the guidelines but how can i restore the references without doing it all over again. It took me forever! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alisonpollack (talkcontribs) 23:58, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi! I am working on my revised article in the userspace and was wondering if u can help me (the neophyte) along the way. I'd really appreciate it! Alisonpollack (talk) 20:49, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi! How do I remove my user page but still keep the page in the mainspace?

Alisonpollack (talk) 23:31, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi Alison! To remove your copy of the article, you can request deletion by adding the code {{db|user}} to the top where the page will be likely deleted shortly after. This will not affect the Susan Foster article in the mainspace.

Also, to leave future messages to my talk page, please click here if it is still on the Susan Foster topic, just to keep the talk page organized. Cheers! --GouramiWatcher (Gulp) 00:00, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi! So when I google search susan foster wiki, my name comes up. The article is deleted but my name and userpage still comes up. How do I get rid of that completely? Thank u! Alisonpollack (talk) 00:13, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Actually, here I don't have an answer for you question, since this is out of my range of knowledge you could ask at the help desk or an administrator. --GouramiWatcher (Gulp) 00:16, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Retinal waves

Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.

You've been trouted! Retinal waves is clearly a notable topic, as evidenced by the availability of reliable sources comprised of significant coverage about the topic. Northamerica1000(talk) 12:38, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

I'm assuming that I nominated the article when it was only 481 words long. It was expanded significantly after I tagged the article. Sorry for that! --GouramiWatcher (Gulp) 00:00, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Arthur "Artie" Nigro

Hello Gourami Watcher. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Arthur "Artie" Nigro, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Article claims coverage in reliable sources. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 22:58, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

Telesma

Why would you nominate an article for deletion WHILE it is being posted? Wouldn't it be more fair to allow the editor putting it together to support it's notability? I mean, a day or two? Isn't it a bit draconian to jump on it like that and disrespect another editor's work by nominating it for deletion the moment it's posted?Rosencomet (talk) 19:58, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

On Wikipedia there is no way to tell if an Article is being written unless it is tagged with the {{under construction}} template that can be added to the top of the article by the creator. Sorry about that! --GouramiWatcher (Gulp) 20:02, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for giving it at least a chance.Rosencomet (talk) 20:08, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

Frederick West (MP)

When you put the speedy A7 tag on , the article already asserted he was a Member of Parliament, This is about as unmistakable an indication of importance as possible, and by long precedent, fully sufficient for notability. It was furthermore referenced to the absolutely authoritative History of Parliament. The article has been improved further, but even that was sufficient.

It is important to be careful in tagging for deletion, in order to avoid discouraging new editors who contribute articles. The grounds for deletion by speedy are narrow and observed strictly: what does not fall under them & ought to be deleted can be deleted by Prod or AfD, but nominating such an article for deletion by any method is a little absurd--such a source fully meets the requirements of the GNG. . I think you sneed re-read, slowly and carefully, WP:Deletion Policy, and WP:CSD. DGG ( talk ) 00:15, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for the message. I'm a bit new with requesting deletion on articles since I just got my Rollback rights earlier this year and I will be sure to keep in mind the CSD rules when I patrol the new pages. Thanks again, GouramiWatcher (Gulp) 02:00, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
Based on my own experience, let me suggest that you do fewer at a time. I find that when I'm checking new pages or anything similar, the large number of thoroughly unsatisfactory articles tends to work upon me to get become a little careless--careless not only by not checking before deletion, but not checking for truly serious problems like copyvio. I've learned not only to go slowly, but to do just a few at a time. Remember that NPP does not depend on you only; it is much better we do them all carefully than keep up by getting careless. We do have enough people to get to them all, thanks to all the people like you who have been helping. DGG ( talk ) 02:10, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
I'm glad that you inform me about issues like these. I'll definately look over the rules before I request a speedy next time,as well as request fewer. Cheers! --GouramiWatcher (Gulp) 14:45, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Fault forwarding

Hello,
Could you be a bit more specific regarding the tone problems on the Fault forwarding article?
I have expanded the examples and changed the format but I am unsure what the issue is.
I am also currently hunting up sopme references for this technique. JPelham (talk) 13:42, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

Hello JPelham, I went and adjusted some of the words in the article myself and removed the tag on the article. Sorry if my reason was unclear! --GouramiWatcher (Gulp) 14:47, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

When you identify a language, click on the translate link to be sure - it isn't Albanian, but Romanian (even mentions Romania and Moldova...). I've changed it. Peridon (talk) 13:17, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

William Bill Hudson

Good Evening Gourami Watcher,

I am disappointed to see you have decided to delete is the best course of action, I hope my statement on the 'file' about deletion can go some way in explaining why I think this should not happen.

But I am aware that there is a fault somewhere regarding Cite ref's. I am very new to this and so please excuse my ignorance on the editing matters - perhaps you can oblige with some help?

Best Wishes Debbie Green — Preceding unsigned comment added by Artslooker (talkcontribs) 17:14, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

It appears that someone else has improved the article, so it appears that it is no longer in danger of being deleted. Cheers! --GouramiWatcher (Gulp) 17:26, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
Hello again,

The birth year is at the top (1942) and I have given details of his earlier career as well as the later part. I have given several references all from this past week, 3 newspapers (print & web) concerning a totally unique event (burning of 40 paintings) that has never been done before in the World (!) for creative reasons. The press reaction including an interview on the BBC should help a reader realise how newsworthy this is. Bill Hudson has had 2 solo shows in London in 2 years, I wonder if you realise how important that it is to a Painter/Artist? I am a friend of Vernon Holt's and so have met the artist over 2 years and know how he works and so on. As I said earlier, his collectors are bemused as to why he is not already here....and as one of the collectors I feel entitled to ask! Please tell me what else exactly, do you require, and I will do my best to submit it? I read all the guidelines regarding identifiable sources, and not simply promoting a living person, yet Bill Hudson is doing work that is totally new and exciting. Unfortunately, he has not considered it important to create many lists, so there is more information from the past 20 years than the total 60 years of his working. Thank you for helping me with the editing problem. Best Wishes Debbie Green Artslooker (talk) 17:43, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

I remember requesting deletion before the article was significantly improved, and I'm sorry for all of that confusion. Good luck on your future articles!

Thank you Gourami Watcher,

I have now seen your message before I posted mine.

And now for the personalised part... come on, give the new user some time to work out Wikipedia's syntax! :) This is a brave new wiki-world for them, and we don't want to spoil it for them by deleting their articles right away. (I think they definitely need to spend some time in the sandbox before creating their next article, though.) Thanks for patrolling new pages, by the way! Best regards — Mr. Stradivarius 16:21, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

The author is merely trying to promote them self, which they have already done a few months ago, resulting in their article being deleted. --GouramiWatcher (Gulp) 16:23, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
Well, it's clearly an attempted autobiography, yes. That doesn't mean that without some gentle guidance and advice, they could not be capable of becoming a productive member of the Wikipedia community. There's a great quote about this, which I shall try and find for you. Hang on a second... — Mr. Stradivarius 16:27, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
Ok, found it. Here it is, courtesy of User:Rjanag:

It's my belief that most productive Wikipedians first arrive at the site wanting to do something that is against WP policy -- advance a point of view, cover something that doesn't meet the notability guideline, etc. We also often bring baggage from other Internet sites where the social norms or policies permit different kinds of behavior -- social networking activity, attacks, canvassing, what have you.
None of this makes us bad people, just people who have not yet fully absorbed the Wikipedia ethos.

Hopefully this lets you know where I'm coming from. :) — Mr. Stradivarius 16:33, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
p.s. I swapped your warning on User talk:Nikoll gjokaj for a warning about creating autobiographies. Let's see if that does the trick. — Mr. Stradivarius 16:34, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
Thank you so much for the tips. Since I just started the Twinkle stuff , I suppose I'm not as knowledgeable about warning editors as I should be. I'll be sure to take in mind Rjanag's idea next time I'm in a situation like this. Cheers! --GouramiWatcher (Gulp) 17:13, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
