Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. - 220.101 talk\Contribs 14:03, 4 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Editing in 'User space'

edit

Hello, Gordon Cheng
You seem to be creating pages from scratch in 'Article space,' and then making lots of edits to expand them. You may find it easier to create a sub-page in your own user space.
Try typing (for example) user:Gordon Cheng/Visa policy of (add country name) in the search box. This should allow you to create a page that you can edit until it is a more complete article, then move into the main article space. Just a suggestion! And, please use edit summaries! Visa requirements for German citizens

edit

Hi,

You removed Venezuela from the from the German visa free list ? Do you have any brand new sources for that ? IATA still lists German citizens as visa free and since the Schengen area allows visa free access to Venezuelans I'd be extremely surprised if there was a recent change in policy. Travelbird (talk) 22:36, 1 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Okay I found your ref at http://www.mppre.gob.ve//index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2143&Itemid=194 I'm still going to revert your edit, because I honestly think that this is simply an omission. This list on the page is poorly formatted ans has several typos. As visa policy change of this magnitude would have gotten significant coverage on the news and would be mentioned at www.botschaft-venezuela.de/ I am going to assume that that it never happened. Travelbird (talk) 22:45, 1 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

The same is true for Japan btw : see [1] Travelbird (talk) 22:51, 1 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for my negligence! I've check it through [2]. the information on [3] is indeed much outdated. thank you for your correction!

Maps

edit

Hey, you might want to consider creating vector maps instead of using those PNG images for your world maps. They are way easier to edit, if you ask me. Commons:Transition_to_SVG
Also, I think I saw that you uploaded the same maps twice with a NEW at the end? If it's the same as an improved version, you could just upload it as a newer version on the file's site so we won't have the same picture twice. --Saftorangen (talk) 23:52, 3 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your willing to help! about the extra title 'NEW' on many maps I've created, It was simply done by lack of experience. I began to edit on Wiki mere since beginning this year. now I know how to 'renovate' a map under the same name. about those maps I'll try to bring them back to their original primitive names meanwhile keep the lastest modification.

License tagging for File:Savita Bhabhi.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Savita Bhabhi.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 02:07, 6 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:Yulduz Usmonova.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Yulduz Usmonova.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Speedy deletion nomination of Visa policy of Zambia

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Visa policy of Zambia requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Kürbis () 18:24, 7 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Visa requirements for Taiwanese citizens, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page ESTA (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Rule for visa policy color scheme

edit

Hi,

I see you've changed the US and Sri Lanka on the Visa Requirement for Taiwanese citizens page from Green to White, citing they're not free.

This raises the issue of if the color indicates fee or visa-free.

My understanding is that the color indicates visa-free unrelated to fee. But it seems you have a different idea.

By your definition, Burkina Faso will be green too even though it's visa-on-arrival, but it's free of charge.

I'd like to propose we stick to the visa-free status as most other country's visa-requirement page take "Green background" as an indicator of Visa-free, not fee.

See Singapore, or any other US visa-waiver program countries and you'll know what I mean. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.122.146.180 (talk) 02:53, 4 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Regarding User_talk:76.170.73.117 Chinese Travel Document referes to zh:中華人民共和國旅行證. Taiwanese people are eligible to apply for it in a Chinese embassy or consulate. But seems lacking of English materials to give a description on it. BTW, can you change the color of Hong Kong on the map to green? This map should reflect the people with Taiwan passport only.76.170.73.117 (talk) 21:24, 6 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Visa requirements for Nepalese citizens

Hi Gordon, I would like to appreciate your work of updating the map on this article and just wanted to suggest a correction. Bolivia grants Nepalese citizen Visa on arrival. Thank you! Suniltheblue (talk) 13:32, 5 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Namaste!

I've checked your infor. about Bolivia, is this the only country I miss? could you point out more countries if there're? I'll add them into the map. thanks!

Namaste! Along with Bolivia, the other countries are Kosovo (visa free) and Mongolia (because Mongolia issues visas on arrival to visitors arriving from countries where there is no diplomatic representation of Mongolia, and Nepal doesn't have one.) Thanks! Suniltheblue (talk) 17:27, 5 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Are you sure about the case of Mongolia? because what you've described doesn't match the "fact" I use to know about Mongolia. can you give any official released information which supports the condition you've mentioned? or just put them into the text, I'll just add all countries onto the map according to the text!
