Dear Dodo, I have recreated the CD Publishing page has thsi small indepednent publisher is newworthy for their role in the protest against the Iraq war. I think we disagree over its notability. While I agree it has not been mentioned in books it was a features publisher at the London Book Show in 2005 and has been mentioned on several TV and radio programs. Dave Messina: The Real Deal

Dear Godo Dodo, You recently deleted the page for the movie Dave Messina: The Real Deal because you said it was not "notable". In actuality, this movie is very notable. It was a notable independent film and of great pride to the people of New Britain. You see, this city does contribute a lot of art, but never has a movie been conceptualized, filmed, edited, and produced within this city. The premiere was a big deal and was very notable. I saw that on Wikipedia there was not much about New Britain except its own article and there was nothing on New Britain High School except a stub. Which I find very odd, since New Britain is an important city in Connecticut's history. So I created that article. User:Thugman123 and User:Hpsander456

I noticed you dealing with the first of this pair — I'm suspicious about a possible connection between the two (possibly socks). Hpsander has "Wikipedians who like being thug" as a category on their page, in addition to the category "Wikipedians who hate being played like a sucker", which was also added to the userpage of Thugman123 by User:Frank Anchor (see User talk:Frank Anchor), which also raises the possibility of a connection there. The only three members of that category are Thugman123 (now removed), Frank Anchor, and Hpsander456. Also, Thugman123 and Hpsander456 seem similar in that their nicks end in the sequence of digits (123/456) and both have bizarre editing habits, with each having edits flippantly proclaiming their love of bagels and cake, respectively. I'm not sure what to do to officially raise the possibility of their being socks, and I'm also aware that sockpuppets are allowed so long as they aren't abused, so I don't want to do anything. When you find a sentence or paragraph that needs to be sourced, what tag do you use? I tried {{cite}}, {{source}}, and variations thereof but I can't find anything. I suppose I missed out on the thrill and exhilaration of blocking a sockpuppet this time. :P I encountered the edits in essentially the same way. I was checking through recent category creations and noticed that multiple categories were being created for sockpuppets of editors whom I recognise – suffice it to say it piqued my interest. I would have blocked earlier but I was distracted by something over at WP:NPOV. As for your hope that he'll give up someday ... well, it just wouldn't be the same if blocked editors didn't continually try to evade blocks with numerous obvious sockpuppets for months after their indef-block, now would it? ;) That's probably enough abuse of WP:BEANS from me for today. Thank you for your concern. If this happens again, I might make a different account to avoid his vandalism. I've already read the Sockpuppet policies. However, if I do make a new account, I'll use my old one until the new one is "official" and I can edit semi-protected pages and fix vandalism on them. I do not wish to provide any links between the two accounts if this happens, for security purposes. Hello and kindest regards, The change as made to the Sten reference because of a transcript by the co-inventor Colonel Shepherd discussing how it was named when he received an Award from the Board of the Royal Commission Awards to inventors. Lord Cohen: Why was it called the Sten? Colonel Shepard It was called the Sten by the then Director General of Artillery. The S' was from my name, the T from Mr. Turpin who was my draughtsman and who did a very large amount of the design and the EN was for England. That is the origin of the name, for which I accept no responsibility. In my country we have say about even if people all believe one thing it doesn't make it true. Father Christmas does spring to mind in this context. If you can find me a contrary quote from either of the inventors I would consider that better evidence than this transcript. I welcome your response on this subject and to continue this dialog. Also any help you may give on how I might better edit this article to reflect the change would be appreciated.

Just a follow up. I beleive that Ian Hogg is one of the proponents of Enfield name theory of the Sten. As you yourself said " Hogg is a good person, but his books are chuck full of inaccuracies. It appears that he takes all of his information from seconday sources without first checking that they are right. I've noticed that he parrots the opinions and inaccuracies of others" I wholeheartedly agree on this point. I consider that a published interview would be a primary document. Better than any other source I've seen in my study of Stens. I enjoy our dialog and if ever in England i would extend an invitation to visit our collection of firearms we have several stens and on two badly rusted Sten derivatives from the Warsdaw Uprising. I just received a message from you saying that some of my edits to the Al Roker page were not constructive. I'm not really sure how that could be possible, as they are all true. If it's a matter of them not being sourced, then I apologize and I'll get sources ASAP. However, most of the information on the page is unsourced and, by that logic, should be removed. I've noticed, as all my archive pages are on my watchlist. :) Though considering our respective userpages and talk pages are also on my list the archives were tough to spot as the watchlist was changing a mile a minute. =O This has been quite an interesting few days. Tried To Help An Odd Editor And Now Not Sure What To Do

He's a peculiar one: User:Holmes.sherlock. I'm 99.9% sure he's not older than 10. I'm also wondering if he might not be understanding big English words (I think he's Chinese). He wants to be an admin (and has accidentally indicated more than once that he was) and has tried to contribute and help Wikipedia (which has led to confusion and minor disruption). I don't think any of his edits are with malicious/disruptive intent; and I think others have had the same impression so warnings have been light yet the strangeness continues. I offered to give helpful advice and that maybe he should seek adoption. Instead he has put up a userbox saying he is an experienced user looking for editors to adopt and has adopted them himself. Needless to say my advice is probably going to cause more confusion in the long run. Can I try and help further or is it time for stronger warnings? -WarthogDemon 05:41, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

I thought it was slightly strange that he blanked it one minute after recieving the warning. If he didn't blank so soon, I would have left it. But since he continued blanking so I left it be as I know nothing gets solved that way and giving him a warning for blanking his own talk page would be as disruptive. A lot of IP adresses and new accounts tend to be like that but instead of reverting their edits, I leave a friendly comment on their talk page. Unfortuntely this doesn't stop them from blanking again as I've just found out. But I guess they just don't what to talk to anyone which kind of defeats the whole purpose of a talk page. Also clicking a blue link to a users talkpage which is blank is also a big red flag. Or is it blue flag. Anyway, in this case I look through the page's edit history to find warnings. But sometimes there isn't time for searching as the user could be vandalising at a fairly fast pace, so a warning(depending on the vandalism extent) will be placed on the talk page. No problemo. At first I thought they were trying to do a good thing but then I looked at the image info and realised that image shouldn't have been added there as it was a copyrighted image. I see I also screwed up by putting my last comment here at the top instead of the bottom. Oops. A couple very quick questions before I leave you in peace for five or six minutes:

1. When you want to contact another editor or admin (as I'm trying to do now), is what I'm doing at the moment proper etiquette, or should I be using e-mail or some private messing system that nobody told me about?
2. Where on Wiki-Earth do you people learn all these commands? Obviously I've figured out a couple of them, but is there a simple place that explain most or all of them (like, for example, that stuff you used to indicate "replied on your talk page?")
3. Re: images (as in the picture of Ms. Alba you blasphemously removed) - I read through the image use and non-free content stuff, but I don't quite get it. Obviously I can use a picture I took myself (I guess, assuming I can prove rights to it) ... but what exactly violates the policy of "public domain." If I were writing an article and went looking for images to use (on Google perhaps) - how would I know what I could I use? Or is it considered fair use if I use it an article actually on that subject but not on a silly talk page? I pulled that picture directly from the Wikipedia page on Alba, so I was a little confused ...?

Blocked?

Excuse me... Apparently my IP has been edit-blocked for spamming a month ago and I just found out today. I know I didn't edit them [Edits on various energy drink pages, once a minute] because I don't edit, but I'd like to clear the name of my IP address just in case. I've read all the pages on how this could have happened, but it's not a shared computer and I use SBCGlobal, not AOL, so I don't know how this could have happened. [Perhaps a virus? I'm not good with computers, so I wouldn't know...]

While the likelihood of a shared IP address is lower with SBCGlobal DSL connections as you tend to keep the same IP address if you keep your DSL modem on and a connection alive, it is still possible that you could have gotten a shared IP address. If it wasn't you do did the edits, then I wouldn't worry too much about it. It's not likely that you have a virus, but without knowing your old address, I couldn't tell you if the spam edits for proxies opened by viruses. Even if not proxy virus-like, I would still recommend a good anti-virus program in order for you to make sure that your computer is virus free. why was i deleted?

You recently deleted "WavTeK"

and labeled it as advertising.

It was a definition. no different from existing articles on "Best Buy" "Sony" ect...

why can they have there companies in here and I cannot have a page that says when you look up what wavtek is it tells you its an I.T. services company in woodstock and provides hotspots. then a link. and a little background.

I am confused why it got deleted I see no “Blatant advertising.” just a definition to put a company with a name. kind of what you would expect from and informational source like wikipedia?

If you found the company background offensive then I will recreate it without that part.
