Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.

A few features that you might find helpful:

• Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
• The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you are interested, or you can add it directly to your user page by copying the following: {{WPMILHIST Announcements}}.
• Important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
• The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, writing contests, and article logistics.
• We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
• We've developed a style guide that covers article structure and content, template use, categorization, and many other issues of interest.
• If you're looking for something to work on, there are many articles that need attention, as well as a number of review alerts.

Battle of Waterloo

I reverted your edit for two reasons. The first is that we do not place internal link into an external links section. The second is that there is no real advantage to the external link that you included and the article is already very well sourced and well over the 32k that articles are supposed to be. Also the external link does not use HTML to present most of its information. Instead it uses Microsoft Powerpoint that does not display properly in non proprietary software like OpenOffice, and even more importantly the external source does not cite its sources, so one is dependant on the word of Jonathan Web that it is correct is correct, which makes it an unreliable source. -- PBS (talk) 20:03, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Request reason:

My edits in November 2015 were to edit dead links to www.theartofbattle.com, which had moved servers and the links no longer had .htm at the end. It appears that I was spamming because there were 70 edits to links in a day when really those 70 links were added over a period of 6 years, which is a little different than adding 70 links in a day. While I do run the website I am linking to, I think it would be incorrect to say adding these links are for the purpose of self-promotion. The website is a registered educational non-profit organization that actually costs me money to run. Its goals are to help educators generate interest in history, among other goals (check out the About page http://www.theartofbattle.com/about/), which I am sure Wikipedia would view as noble goals similar to its own. I admit that my direct contributions to Wikipedia are somewhat minimal but I think my indirect contributions are valuable. Since as long as I can remember I have encouraged my viewers to contribute to Wikipedia's Military History Project, and all of my maps are available for free use on Wikipedia, which would greatly improve many articles that do not have any maps or diagrams of the battle at all. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
