Thanks for alerting me to this problem. I made a note of it on Wikipedia:Administrator's noticeboard as I'm a little strapped for time at the moment. In the future, feel free to post urgent/serious matters like this one directly to the noticeboard. android79 14:35, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the help. I can always count on you.Gator(talk) 14:45, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

I see you're also a fan of my talk page header. :-) android79 16:27, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

My user and talk pages are nothing more than the product of many months of scavenging.Gator(talk) 16:38, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

Speaking of your user page, I just noticed that you have lost a puppy. My condolences. I know how tough that is – losing a brand-new "kid" is almost as hard as losing an old friend. One winter my dad iscovered a shivering black lab puppy under our shed; our only guess is someone dropped off an unwanted pet. We coaxed her back to health only to lose her a few months later to some unknown illness.

I see you have plenty of furry friends to help you cope, though. :-) android79 16:55, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the condolences, Android. That's very thoughtful of you. It's been hard, but my wife and I are enduring the loss. It's only barely been two weeks but we both feel like it has been MUCH longer. Strange how that is. See you around.Gator(talk) 18:26, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

Maine Coon pictures

In response to your question on my talk page, I agree that the number of pictures could easily get out of hand.... I think that keeping the lead image along with three at the bottom would make for a good page format, but I also think there are problems with all of the images currently at the the bottom. A couple of them are illustrative (of size and variety), but none of them are particularly good pics. The image marked "A typical Maine Coon cat" isn't too bad, but it is entirely superfluous while the others remain. The image illustating "The Maine Coon's "ruff" isn't really necessary, since the ruff is clearly visible in the lead image.

I'm sorry I can't be more helpful, and I wish you luck in finding a solution which is acceptable to all concerned. Personally, I won't mind in the least if you delete any or all of the bottom images. TheMadBaron 15:17, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your opinion. I'll propose a solution on the talk page and see if anyone objects. If not then I'll just choose three and go from there.

Admin

Actually, Gator, it pleases me to hear you say that. One day I would like to consider the responsibility. However, I feel I have a great deal to learn before taking on such a project, and now that I am working, I have little time. I do not have a hard on for the position. However, one day that may change.

My edit history betrays my interest in writing, writing, writing and editing, editing, editing what I wrote. For the moment I'd like my contribution to be new articles and GFDL photo donations (see the wonderful ones I got for Mabel Mercer).

Thanks, though, for mentioning it.

Johann Wolfgang's RfA

Thank you for your support on my RfA.If my RfA passes I will use my new abilities with the common interest in mind. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Johann Wolfgang [ T ...C ] 22:00, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for adding the Maine Coon Gallery! I've added a photo of my cat now - he sleeps most of the day, so it's appropriate that he looks half asleep in the photo :) -- All the best, Nickj (t) 23:45, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

My RFA

Thank you very much for supporting my rather contentious request for adminship, but now that I've been promoted, I'd like to do a little dance here *DANCES*. If you have any specific issues/problems with me, please feel free to state them on my talk page so that I can work to prevent them in the future, and thanks once again!  ALKIVAR  07:44, 8 November 2005 (UTC)

Thanks

I suppose due to my background that I come across more combative than I mean to. I have no beef with Hipocrite and respect his oppose vote. I am truly sorry I made him so angry with me. In reality, I did not politic for this admin nomination. I have been approached by numerous editors over the past 2 months and have been sidestepping the issue. I am content to continue to work hard on the WikiProject Protected Areas regardless of the outcome. Maybe I can learn from what the opposition has to say so that I can evolve into a more respected contributor. Thanks for your kind words and I hope your day goes better than mine as we are supposed to get a couple of inches of snow here today in Omaha!--MONGO 15:56, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

Continued vandalization after repeated warnings

User talk:67.82.249.12 continues to vandalize A.J. Jacobs every few days after a final warning from you and has made no positive contributions, so you should probably block that IP address... inkling 16:40, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

I'm not an admin, but I'll do what can. Some admins go out of there way not to block vandal IPs even those like this one. We need more admins that take a stronger approach to vandals. I'll let ou know what happens. You cna report vandals at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. That's all I can do without being an admin.Gator (talk) 17:15, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

My RFA

Thanks for your support. I've now been made an administrator. I'll do my best not to let you down :) --Sherool (talk) 02:31, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for supporting me for adminship. The RfA passed today. I look forward to working with you to make Wikipedia a better place. --Nlu 04:00, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

Thanks

I appreciate your support on my RfA. It is really close and I don't think it will pass. Many seem to think that I am some kind of bigot just because I was trying to "humor" Rama and a few others with my preposterous edit. I was done for just that reason...it's preposterousness. Seems a shame that so many take one or two questioanble edits and fail to examine the other 6,400 edits I have made. Regardless, I appreciate your support so let me know if there is anything I can do for you!--MONGO 18:29, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

Well, not so fast, I think that you need to win by 70% in order to pass, and, right now, the oppose votews need 8 or 9 unanswere oppose votes to get the 30% they need. I think it'll pass. Check my math, but I think I'm right. It'll be close though. Don't give up hope and maintain a good attitude.Gator (talk) 21:01, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

Ok, my math does suck. It'll be close than I thought, but right now (with 61 total votes 47-14, you have 77% to their 23%. They would need over 4 unanswered votes to beat you and you are still getting support. Hang in there, it's almost over. Man, this gets so ugly, over somethingthat's not supposed to be a big deal. It obviously is a big deal to some people.

OK, it turns out the definition of consensus is 75-80% (whatever) so right now you have 48/63 votes giving you 76%. It'll be really close, but I'm a bettign man so I think you'll pull it out, unless a bureacrat screws you. GLGator (talk) 23:45, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

Thank you!

Hi Gator1,

Thank you very much for your support on my RfA. I was both surprised and delighted about the amount of support votes and all the kind words! If I can ever help with anything or if you have any comments about my actions as an admin, please let me know! Regards, JoanneB 14:04, 21 November 2005 (UTC)

Not counting my chickens yet

Thanks man, you have been a super big support through this mess. I can't believe that one person actually felt my username was "offensive"...I can say it may seem an odd choice, but I never meant it to be offensive. Anyway, I guess it's something like 80 percent but that doesn't completely guarantee my promotion...as there are some loud voices against it. I mean, over what, the added responsibility of having an easier time rolling back vandalism and speedy deleting nonsense articles...which are the only two things I'll be doing until I get comfortable with the stuff. Anyway, I do very much appreciate your support through this and I thank you. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you.--MONGO 14:35, 21 November 2005 (UTC)

GraemeL's RFA

Hi Gator1,

I am now an administrator and would like to thank you for your support and kind words on my RfA. I was very surprised at the number of votes and amount of and kind comments that I gathered. Please don't hesitate to contact me if I mess up in the use of my new powers. --GraemeL (talk) 14:55, 21 November 2005 (UTC)

Ianblair23's RfA

G'day Gator1,

I would like to thank you for supporting me on my RfA. It closed with the final tally of 57/0/0. I can only hope I can live up to the expectations that this wonderful community of ours demands from each of its administrators. If you ever need anything, please just let me know. Cheers! -- Ianblair23 (talk) 02:03, 22 November 2005 (UTC)

MONGO

Thanks for the notification. Rarely is an RFA closed at its precise ending time; I'll probably do it when I have a moment later today, unless another bureaucrat does first. Regards — Dan | Talk 17:59, 22 November 2005 (UTC)

The ending time was a day and a half ago now. The final tally should be 53/13/3.--MONGO 21:21, 22 November 2005 (UTC)

Sure appreciate your support

You went above the call of duty to support my quest for adminship and I really appreciate it. I never forget good deeds and look forward to working with you in this project. Due to your username, I just assumed you lived in Florida! Maine is a beautiful state, especially on the coast north of Portland. It has been a long time since I was there, but hope to go back again someday. Thanks again for all you've done over the past week or so, it meant a lot to me.--MONGO 02:46, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

Miborovsky's RfA

Hello there Gator1/Archives/November 2005,

Thank you for supporting me on my RfA. It's Thanksgiving Day, too... so once again a big thank you! Have an awesome weekend! (If you celebrate Thanksgiving, that is.) I will do all I can for Wikipedia, to protect it from the alien scum of the universe... I mean, uh, from Willy on Wheels and Wikipedia is Communism!

RfA thanks

I'd like to thank you for your support of my RfA. As I wrote, I was looking forward to feedback from the community, and I would like to let you know that you should please feel free to leave any further feedback for me you may have for me in the future at my Talk page. Thanks again. Jkelly 08:31, 25 November 2005 (UTC)

Many thanks for your support

Hi, Gator. I just want to thank you very much for supporting my RfA, and to say also that I hope I'll make a good job of it. I'm supposed to be working on an assignment at the moment, and had delayed thanking people, but I'm finding the new rollback button so easy to use that I'm just keeping Wikipedia open on my browser while working on other things, and I thought I'd like to thank at least a few of my supporters while I'm here. Cheers. AnnH (talk) 19:36, 25 November 2005 (UTC)

Sean Black RfA

Thank you very much for your support of my RfA. Thanks, in part, to you, I am now an Administrator, and I pledge to use my newfound powers for good rather than evil. Thanks again!--Sean|Black 08:07, 26 November 2005 (UTC)

RfA

Thanks. WikiThanks.
I would like to express my thanks to all the people who took part in my (failed) RfA voting. I was both surprised and delighted about the amount of support votes and all the kind words! I was also surprised by the amount of people who stated clearly that they do care, be it by voting in for or against my candidacy. That's what Wiki community is about and I'm really pleased to see that it works.
As my RfA voting failed with 71% support, I don't plan to reapply for adminship any more. However, I hope I might still be of some help to the community. Cheers! Halibutt 05:10, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

Android79's talk

When adding your comment to User_talk:Android79 you seem to have deleted all the previous content. I guess this was a mistake so I have fixed it. Thanks --pgk(talk) 20:59, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

To add further to this, I'm not entirely certain what your question to Android79 was (an example would have been nice), but if you don't get an answer you could always try WP:AN or WP:AN/I to get a wider admin viewing. --pgk(talk) 21:15, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

Oops, sorry about that. If you check Eddie's contributions related to IP tracing, you'll see what I mean. Thanks again!Gator (talk) 21:20, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
