Video mapping

edit

As described in Draft:video Mapping, the concept seems very similar to how TV weather anchors have done weather maps going back to the late 20th century. If memory serves, I've also seen it done prior to 2009 for other things, such as United States political races to recap how the results changed over time.

In other words, I don't think the concept was new as of 2009. I also don't think it is so much of an incremental change from "animation" in general to have a well-known term for it. That's not to say there wasn't a term for it prior to 2009, just that I had not heard of a specialized term that encompassed all such uses. There were terms like "let's look at the weather map for last night's storms" followed by the weather forecaster showing how the map looked yesterday afternoon then with a new animation frame ("slide") for 15 minutes later and so on for the duration of the storm.

What I've just said is from memory, I don't have any reliable sources to back it up. I'm telling you this because if your goal is to create a Wikipedia article about this topic, you will probably be shot down by others who have similar memories and who have time to dig up reliable sources. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 22:22, 10 December 2020 (UTC) Update Fixed typo in wikilink. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 🎄 19:22, 11 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Greco Armenian Federal Republic of Anatolia

edit

Please do not create hoaxes on Wikipedia, as you did at Draft:Greco Armenian Federal Republic of Anatolia. Doing so is considered to be vandalism and is prohibited. If you are interested in how accurate Wikipedia is, a more constructive test method would be to try to find inaccurate statements that are already in Wikipedia—and then to correct them if possible. If you would like to make test edits, please use the sandbox. Under section G3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, the page has been nominated for deletion. Repeated vandalism may result in the loss of editing privileges.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. History Mapping moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, History Mapping, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text

{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.

I am representing a hobby, not a group or whatever, thank you very muchGalactica Mapping (talk) 01:41, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

Decline reason:

You have just threatened to sue to be unblocked. There is no way at this time we will unblock you. If you wish to be unblocked, you are going to need to address this threat AND you MUST change your name. RickinBaltimore (talk) 14:08, 16 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Hello? can i be unblocked? It’s been a while now. If I don’t get a response by next week, I’m suing.

There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:04, 16 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

(Ignoring the legal threat above, which incidentally if you don't rescind you will never be unblocked) If you check out your Youtube channel it clearly states (emphasis mine) "We Do Video Mapping, Documentaries, and More! We Hope You Enjoy!". This tells us that the account would represent a group or more than one person which is prohibited. Accounts and account names should represent only a single individual as pointed out above. Your original conditions for unblock were clearly indicated and you didn't follow through on the request to rename your account, so the fact you have not been unblocked is on you at this point. Your only way forward at this point is to 1) rescind the legal threat above and 2) submit the request for a change of username. Canterbury Tail talk 18:49, 16 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
