National varieties of English

edit

Hello. In a recent edit to the page Major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, India, or Pakistan use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the original author of the article used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk. Thank you. BilCat (talk) 21:21, 14 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm GrapefruitSculpin. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Bratislava, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. User:FlowFan2300/sandbox and WP:NFCC policy

edit

Recently, you added 63 non-free images to this sandbox page of yours. Please be aware that per WP:NFCC #9, the use of non-free logos, such as File:Oakland Raiders logo.svg, outside of actual articles is not permitted. Thus, a sandbox page would not be permitted to display such images. Also be aware that if this is intended to be an article at some point, that the use of non-free images as you appear to intend would not be acceptable either. For the guideline behind this, see WP:NFTABLE. If you have questions, let me know. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 23:12, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

My intention was never to make my sandbox page into an actual article, it was simply an experiment of sorts, for personal purposes. I don't exactly understand why the use of logos has to be disallowed in something as harmless as a sandbox page, but rules are rules, I suppose. --FlowFan2300 (talk) 11:34, 25 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Agreed. Whenever there's a large group of people working on the same thing, rules have to evolve. In such situations, it's very rare indeed for everyone to be 100% happy with the rules. In Wikipedia's case, it's effectively impossible. But, it's ok, so long as we all work within the rules. --Hammersoft (talk) 13:33, 25 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Cinderella (sports), you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Ryan O'Reilly and Jake Allen (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hi SnowyNix! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Masturbation that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. — UncleBubba T @ C ) 03:10, 30 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Notability

edit

Hi, responding to Since Dream just reached 10 million subscribers, I don't think there can be any doubt about notability, while that does make him notable in real life, it doesn't necessarily mean that the subject fits Wikipedia's arcane definition of notability. What is usually needed is to demonstrate that the subject has received significant coverage in independent sources. I couldn't find any independent coverage of him. – Thjarkur (talk) 14:07, 17 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Dream (YouTube channel) moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Dream (YouTube channel), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
