Contested deletion edit

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (your reason here) --FerryBrewery (talk) 19:00, 3 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have specifically created the page for Ferry Brewery based on many other UK brewery pages seen here on Wikipedia. I am not advertising, just giving information on the location, types of beers offered, awards etc.

if there is something specifically let me know please as I have modelled off the other breweries here on Wikipedia.

Thank you.

Phrases like "We are not just crafting beers, we are telling a Ferry Tasty Story" are examples of the overt promotional tone, which show that you are using this account to advertise this (your?) company. —C.Fred (talk) 19:07, 3 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have edited to remove the sentence which referred to "We are not just selling beer but telling a tasty story".

Look forward to your reply. Thank YOu

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 19:21, 3 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

I understand the reason you blocked this page and will not repeat with edits for which it was blocked. I will remove anything that resembles advertising. I will reference all information on the page. I will contribute by adding new articles that educates about beer and brewing in Scotland and UK. I will contribute by adding articles that talk about current beer trends. Thank you for your consideration.

Accept reason:

See below discussion - unblock is conditional on a topic ban from Ferry Brewery, and any edits on this brewery will result in a reblock. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:19, 13 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • SBL, just to let you know you will see some changes to your text—I put what you said in the format of a proper unblock request as it should be; that way it will probably be looked at sooner, and then you might be unblocked sooner. Know what I mean? But I haven't changed any of your own words, just moved them. Good luck! ...SerialNumber54129...speculates 19:57, 3 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Thank you SBL - I really don't understand how to set this up and did not realize it was so complicated.

I'm an administrator and a beer fan (as I believe is SerialNumber 54129), and I have fond memories of drinking far too much 90/- ale at the Edinburgh Festival about 20 years ago. I am happy to unblock on the strict condition that you take a topic ban from Ferry Brewery (ie: you do you not edit anything to do with the brewery and agree to be reblocked if you do). I have found an independent source that mentions the brewery and consequently I can name-check Ferry Brewery as a redirect to South Queensferry#Food and drink. In my opinion, that is sufficient for the time being and no other work needs to be done on it.

In the meantime, there is a lot of work to do on articles such as Beer in Scotland, Caledonian Brewery and McEwan's, to name but three. If you confirm you are okay to take the topic ban, and unless the blocking admin Jimfbleak has any objections, I am happy to unblock. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:04, 13 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Ritchie333, thanks for ping, no objections. ScottyBeerLove, Ritchie has already said this, but just to underline the point; if you edit an article with which you are connected, you will be reblocked, and you would be unlikely to get another chance. Otherwise, enjoy your editing and your beer. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:13, 13 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
re-ping Ritchie333, made error before Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:15, 13 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
I think we might as well unblock; it's not like the topic ban is up for negotiation really, and I suspect after ten days the user has got fed up and gone elsewhere. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:17, 13 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
