I've copied the content to your userpage, which is where I assume you'd intended to place it. Acroterion (talk) 12:33, 6 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

[Fabrice's answer:] I understand you replaced Utilisateur:Fabrice.Neyret by User:Fabrice.Neyret . Right ? then, thanks you ! I'm not sure at first how this path get generated, since I only clicked on (possibly red) links to get it, also alterning between english and french. (BTW it is a real nightmare to manage bilingual wikipedia activity: I can only see and follow contributions to en.wikipedia from my english profile and similarly for french. Plus I have to duplicate all preference tunning and self presentation pages. Is there really no way to get it smoother ? Or is there some suggestion page somewhere ? Also, I edit pages for quite a while, but I'm new in page creation and deep editing. Concerning discussions like we have here, is there some tool to use to manage the discussion, or does the normal way really consist in "manually" type and organise the "threads" at low level using the wiki page editor ? thanks, Fabrice.

Yes, in essence the English Wikipedia would think that "Utilisateur:Fabrice Neyret" was an article, not a userpage, just as the French Wikipedia wouldn't put User:Fabrice Neyret into its Utilisateur space. That's what happened, so I just moved it to the right place. There are no real links between userspaces on different Wikipedias, you have to manage them separately. I think there are some ideas for making it better, but for now the different languages of your user account are separate.
Unfortunately, management of discussion pages is just as difficult, and you have to type in all the formatting. I'm told that improvements are expected, but I'm not optimistic that we'll see a more natural method of expression soon. Acroterion (talk) 15:51, 6 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Fabrice.Neyret. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. MrOllie (talk) 17:48, 19 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Adding links to your blogs edit

Even if you didn't have a conflict of interest, blogs are on the links to avoid list. Please stop adding these. - MrOllie (talk) 11:47, 20 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, but plenty of Wikipedia pages of my domain ( CS, CG, maths ) do contain external links towards additional material on the topic, and are very useful as such. Have you even click the links ? each of these 2 blogs is dedicated exclusively to the topic covered, giving educational informations on the topic. These are totally separated to my personal (institutional) blog about my own research activities. Now if it really comes to "authority" argument, I understand from the guideline that being an academic in the domain is one of the criteria of acceptance (but to me any other litterated expert user could have legitimately write these blogs, as it is probably the case for many useful external links I'm happy to get on Wikipedia).
Beside, you also deleted an shadertoy external link (which I wasn't the adder). Shadertoy happens to be both an online application and an autonomous app. Why censoring one of these ? Why not the other, why not both, BTW ? I see no logic, and it's just depriving users of useful information directly related to the topic. Please don't confuse rightful principles and blind literal application of them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fabrice.Neyret (talkcontribs)
Since you read the expert requirement on WP:ELNO, you no doubt continued on to read the next sentence: "This exception for blogs, etc., controlled by recognized authorities is meant to be very limited; as a minimum standard, recognized authorities who are individuals always meet Wikipedia's notability criteria for people."
That clearly is not the case here.
As to the iOS app link, we also don't generally link to things that require special hardware such as an iOS device. Wikipedia is not a software downloads directory. - MrOllie (talk) 14:19, 20 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
