Speedy deletion nomination of OpenCOVID

A tag has been placed on OpenCOVID requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.12.12.21267673v2.full. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. Thanks for your message. It's pretty clear that you have read little, if anything of our editing guidance. Please read the following regarding writing an article:

• you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to an organisation or company, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, logs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what a company or organisation claims or interviewing its management. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls

• Your text is almost entirely unsourced, and the two "references" you did give were a self-written primary source and a code repository, obviously not independent third-party sources

• I don't know if the topic is notable enough for an article here, but that can only be established if it is covered in multiple independent third-party secondary sources

• You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews.
• There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
• You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.

• The copied text is marked © 2021 Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute and Copyright © 2022 Elsevier B.V., so clearly not free to use here.

You have an obvious conflict of interest and you must declare it on your user page at User:Epke Le Rutte. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Epke Le Rutte|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Dear Jimfbleak,

Thank you for your detailed description. We will address all points one by one, there are indeed many more sources we could link to, we will do so for each statement we make in the article.

Our inspiration for this article was from this other comparable covid model 'CovidSim': https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CovidSim hence our understanding for eligibility for a Wikipedia page.

Could you make the old (raw) text available just to me please, I have spent a lot of time getting the writing and coding correct, it would be very helpful if I could use that as a starting point moving forward.

It was copied word for word from the source, so you couldn't have spent that much time preparing it for Wikipedia. PRAXIDICAE🌈 13:38, 21 July 2022 (UTC)

Ok, we can start again :-) I was asking not for the text (we have a screenshot) but for the format of writing the references, subheadings etc.

To respond to one of your earlier points, of course I will update my COI on my user page to reflect my current employee: Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute.

One more question, your comment on 'the copied text is marked 2021 Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute' (Swiss TPH) does that mean we cannot refer to the Wikipedia page from Swiss TPH? As I don't believe there is anything copied from their website in our article. Unless they have used a statement from our scientific article too and it overlaps in that way?
