Speedy deletion of Saint Francis Hospital

edit

A tag has been placed on Saint Francis Hospital, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Master of Pies (talk) 01:00, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Saint Francis Hospital. While objective prose about products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 01:02, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your new version was once again an advertisement, rather than a dispassionate description, and has been deleted. If you believe the hospital is genuinely notable (most aren't), create a new version of the article, with a better name (such as Saint Francis Hospital (Charleston), in a sandbox; then, when you believe it's ready, have a few editors look it over for problems and improvements. --Orange Mike | Talk 15:42, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Rock Lake Pool

edit

A tag has been placed on Rock Lake Pool requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.   Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Rock Lake Pool. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. RadioFan (talk) 03:51, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of Rock Lake Pool

edit

I have nominated Rock Lake Pool, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rock Lake Pool. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. RadioFan (talk) 03:59, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Talk:Rock Lake Pool, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. RadioFan (talk) 04:02, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please do not assume ownership of articles such as Rock Lake Pool. If you aren't willing to allow your contributions to be edited extensively or be redistributed by others, please do not submit them. Thank you. RadioFan (talk) 04:04, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi there

edit

Hi there Enrichyourmind,

First off, I'd like to welcome you to Wikipedia. I see you've been here before (your account was created in 2008), but you're still fairly new to the project. Concerning the article Rock Lake Pool, which you started, I have a few comments. As RadioFan says above, we all need to be careful with taking "ownership" of the articles we start, because this is truly an encyclopedia that anyone can edit. This means that others can edit the articles you start, to improve them. You can read some more about that here: WP:OWNERSHIP. Also Wikipedia has some policies about what can be included in an article. All statements need to be backed up with reliable sources, such as newspaper articles or published books. A statement that is not backed up with a reliable source-- even if it is true-- needs to be removed until a reliable source can be found. I have added eight sources to the Rock Lake Pool article. Please do not remove them. They help establish the validity of the article, and without sources, it will have to be deleted. Additionally, there are still some statements in the article that do not have sources. If these are to stay, they will need to be sourced, or they will have to go. If you have any questions about what I've written, feel free to leave me a message here. — LinguistAtLarge • Talk  05:34, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

West Virgnia Governor's Mansion

edit

Hi,

I have reverted your edits to the talk page for West Virginia Governor's Mansion. There is a formal process whereby article can be nominated for WP:Good article status. You can't just tag the articles yourself. Even aside from what, this article is nowhere near the quality to qualify as GA status.
