Writing style

Hi Elenceq. I got your message, regarding this edit. Wikipedia has a style guide that defines the writing style we use. The part that is relevant here is WP:TONE, which discourages the use of first person pronouns. Also relevant is the policy that Wikipedia is not a textbook. Walking the reader through a derivation is typical style for a textbook, but not as suitable for an encyclopedia.

Note also that the use of passive voice is much more common in scientific and technical writing than it is in other types of writing. --Srleffler (talk) 06:18, 21 March 2015 (UTC)
