Re: ZAP (motor company)

Re [ your message]: The reference list removal edits certainly put up a red flag, but the other two edits are quite different, though the tone of additions is very similar. They both have a feeling of being copied from somewhere, too, though I don't know where from. As for the need to escalate, eh... maybe/maybe not. If they return, probably should be. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 22:19, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Re your message: I think it looks fine. I added in an Infobox and cleaned up the lead a little. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 00:23, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
Re your message: It took more than a few keystrokes, but I fixed it. Mumble. I checked the supposed corporate name change and I don't see the use of "ZAP Jonway" on the company website or any SEC filings. However, the company website also has conflicting information on exactly who the Chairman of the Board is, so who knows who it really is. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 18:50, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
I think I'm beginning to understand what is going on with the article. From what I can tell, ZAP's operations in China is called ZAP Jonway. ZAP purchased the Zhejiang Jonway Automobile stake per the reference I just added in. Jonway Group got a large chunk of ZAP shares, but there was no corporate merger between the two parent companies. ZAP Jonway is just the joint venture, not the full company name, but the Chinese editors seem to think otherwise. Unless they can provide a source for the corporate name change, it should be reverted. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 19:29, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for the heads up. Unfortunately, I am not very familiar with GCC, so I do not feel qualified to participate in this discussion. Ebikeguy (talk) 21:08, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

ZAP

He's at it again! Perhaps we should push for some action given the obvious COI? --Biker Biker (talk) 14:00, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for that. I just reported him at WP:AIV, I've had enough. --Biker Biker (talk) 14:16, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

Th!nk City

Hi Ebikeguy. I just want to let you know that I recently created a new article (stub) for the Th!nk City, bringing most of the content from the Think Global article (which needs a lot of work). I though that you might be interested in contributing to improve and expand the new article. See you around.-Mariordo (talk) 02:13, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

What Men Know

You should read my book, and then we can talk. It has been used in Mankind Project and Sterling and is simply the best book ever written about men. Ever. You started this last time expecting me to be some kind of stastical nerd like Warren Farrell and feeling that I fell short. Farrell is a feminst. I am not. You could go to Pirate Bay if you have good virus gear and download a copy of it. Or I could email you an ebook. 72.234.207.192 (talk) 06:11, 6 October 2010

Chevrolet Volt

I take great offense at your labeling my recent edit as racist. Your charge is inaccurate and completely inappropriate.Ebikeguy (talk) 22:39, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

You implied that a newspaper article was less reliable due to the etnicity of the journalist. What would you call it? // Liftarn (talk)

Electric bike

Hi Ebikeguy. I read your message anyway. As I remember, not necessarily it has to be a new article, if you improved an article significantly during certain period (I guess five days), it also can be eligible, but you have to nominate it immediately after the improvement. Just check the rules. See you around and keep the good work.--Mariordo (talk) 01:43, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

Separating vehicles by generation rather than powertrain or trim level

Hi, I am just dropping a note to inform you of a discussion currently taking place here (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Automobiles#Mass article merger). In summary, WikiProject Automobiles is soliciting opinions based on the separation of automobile articles by generation, as opposed to other means such as powertrain or trim level. For example, rather than having an article on the Audi S3, the Audi A3 article would be split into two sub-articles (one for each generation), and the S3 content would be moved to the appropriate location. This would place automobiles with common engineering in the same place, as opposed to grouping by a mere marketing term. Since separate articles are always provided to detail the powertrain (engine and transmission, et cetera), the partitioning of articles based on this principle is superfluous (the powertrain is only briefly discussed in the article about the car). The reason for giving the actual powertrain a separate article is to cut down on overlap: engines and transmissions are almost universally used in more than one model.

Looking for Wikipedia Ambassadors

Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you are listed as a Wikipedian associated with Harvard. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at schools in Boston and Cambridge (including Harvard), which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.

Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).

If you live near Boston and you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone else from the area who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.

If you're an experienced and active Wikipedian, you might be interested alternatively in becoming an Online Ambassador. The role of Online Ambassadors is to serve as mentors for students; it doesn't require any in-person outreach. Take a look at the Online Ambassador guidelines; the "mentorship process" describes roughly what will be expected of mentors in the coming term. If that's something you want to do, please apply!

You can find instructions for applying at WP:ONLINE. The main things we're looking for in Online Ambassadors are friendliness, regular activity (since mentorship is a commitment that spans several months), and the ability to give detailed, substantive feedback on articles (both short new articles, and longer, more mature ones).

Nissan Leaf GA1 review

Hi Ebikeguy. I think you are aware of my juggling to keep up with the GA review. There is at least one issue, the WP:PLUSING, that I find a bit difficult to fix because English is a second language for me, and I have trouble identifying the inappropriate use of "noun plus '-ing'" that should be eliminated. Please see more details at Talk:Nissan Leaf/GA1 under the prose section. I know everybody is quite busy so close to the holidays, but I appreacite if you can copyedit the -ings, or at least point to me the inappropriate uses so I can do the re-write. Thanks and happy holidays. --Mariordo (talk) 01:11, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi again and happy new year. I would appreciate your contribution at the section I opened at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Automobiles#Nissan Leaf compact or mid size?. Thanks.--Mariordo (talk) 15:34, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Volt engine

Hi, thanks for correcting my entry in the plug-in hybrid article. I wrongly inferred that the Volt engine is not connected to the wheels based on this passage (which apparently is partially obsolete) in the intro of the Volt article: "The electrical power from the generator is sent primarily to the electric motor, with the excess going to the batteries...." Could you change this passage to reflect that the engine can also drive the wheels?

Also, can you further correct the sentence I edited in plug-in hybrid? It now reads "General Motors is calling its Chevrolet Volt series plug-in hybrid an "Extended-Range Electric Vehicle" rather than a hybrid, because at all times the wheels are driven by the electric motor (which receives its electric power either from a battery that is rechargeable from an electrical outlet, or from the engine." The phrase "at all times" is apparently wrong; could you correct it in such a way as to retain GM's rationale for its terminology? Thanks. Duoduoduo (talk) 19:08, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:WITEC.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:WITEC.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 03:12, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of What is the Electric Car?

The article What is the Electric Car? has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no evidence of notability

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 21:02, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi. I am looking into forming a Wiki project about electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles. Any thoughts? Are you interested? Do you know other editors that may be interested? Feel free to drop a line at my talk page.(I hope by putting discussions of the proposed project in one place would make it easier for every interested editor to keep up to date.) ---North wiki (talk) 02:53, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

There's a discussion at my talk page about editor Johnfos's suggestion for us to set up as a Green Vehicles Task Force associated with Wikiproject Environment. Stephno thought it would be better to be under Wikiporject Automobile. Any thoughts? I think at present there looks to be about four editors may be interested, one way or the other. We're pretty close. Just one more! ---North wiki (talk) 05:23, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
