Sockpuppet investigation

edit

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/DragonTiger23, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Stub article creation

edit

Please stop creating unsourced stubs for Turkish villages, such as Yeniköy, Gemlik. You must be finding your information on population from somewhere: please give a reference. Please also follow conventional formatting by using bold for the village name in the opening sentence.

Why are you creating article titles using district names, rather than the plain name of the village? I can see no ruling under WP:PLACE which suggests that this should be done for placenames in Turkey. Is there some particular guidance you have found?

If you are creating articles at titles with added district names, please also create a Redirect from the undisambiguated form of the village name, or add it to a disambiguation page as appropriate: (Yeniköy, Gemlik needs to be added to the disambiguation page at Yeniköy, and Şükriye, Gemlik needs a redirect from Şükriyeand also from Sukriye). Thank you. PamD 22:05, 17 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sorry I don't know the issues around disambiguation exactly. Many villages of Turkey have the same name. For the information about the villages I was using their articles on Turkish Wikipedia. Dunderstrar (talk) 08:38, 18 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Another Wikipedia is not a reliable source, though its articles can be useful in creating a well-sourced article here, if they have good sources. The Turkish Yeniköy, Gemlik article doesn't look very well sourced, and the mass of capital letters suggests it has been edited by some inexperienced editors. Please don't add material to the English Wikipedia without proper sources. Thanks. PamD 08:53, 18 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Ok. I understand but the population statistic was sourced. The rest of the article consists of the village foundation, culture, economy and the mayors. That it is a Yörük (nomads) village and they cultivate olives. Dunderstrar (talk) 08:59, 18 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
