Your draft article, Draft:Joseph Lee (actor/artist) edit

Hello, Dtwinlauser. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "artist)".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. CptViraj (Talk) 08:22, 7 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Dtwinlauser. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the COI guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. – Athaenara 09:14, 7 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Blocked edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Request reason:

No undisclosed COI exists; No SPAM produced

Decline reason:

This request is moot because new request was posted below. Vanjagenije (talk) 10:05, 4 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I believe there has been a misunderstanding, perhaps entirely on my part, but I would like to explain none-the-less.

I had noticed that other lead characters in two projects that Joseph Lee was credited in, had their own WIKI pages. When I created my WIKI account I understood the WIKI policy of COI and therefore I did disclose that I am a talent manager and the subject of my first attempt at an article was a client.

I wrote the WIKI article to simply report what Joseph had performed in as an actor and accomplished as a painter/fine artist. I never mentioned our company name or Joseph's representatives; I never linked to any company or representative websites. My assumption was that as long as I could provide accurate source footnotes without commentary or opinion, the article would be considered. And in December it was considered, but the editor had determined that the “subject was not sufficiently notable for inclusion.” I was disappointed, but understood. And I also understood that unless I had anything significant to add, the article would be remove in six months.

Today I signed on to start taking some of the WIKI tutorials so that I could investigate how to contribute on subjects that are of interest to me, only to see that in June an editor tagged the article to be removed as "spam" and then had my account "blocked indefinitely."

I am asking for the block of my account to be reconsidered. I thought I had followed the COI rules when creating my account and creating the first and only article I submitted. I accepted that the article was rejected and that I should learn more before jumping into another subject. But I do not understand why, having been rejected in December, the article was tagged as "spam" in June and how this was cause to block my account.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Respectfully Dtwinlauser (talk) 21:34, 3 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

No Advertising or Promotion Intent; No Spam produced

Decline reason:

There is no misunderstanding here. You were trying to write an article about your client, which violates WP:COI (Do not edit Wikipedia in your own interests, nor in the interests of your external relationships.) Creating article about your clients is per se advertising regardless of the tone used. Therefore, in order to be unblocked, you have to convince us that you

  • understand the reason why your editing was inappropriate;
  • will not violate WP:COI any more.

Also, you have to tell us what kind of edits you intend to make if unblocked. Vanjagenije (talk) 10:13, 4 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Today I signed on to see if there was a response to my previous unblock request with explanation (from September 3) and again take some of the WIKI tutorials so that I could make contributions to other topics in the future. Since there has been no response to that request, I am again asking for the block of my account to be reconsidered.

I do apologize but I thought I had followed the COI rules when creating my account and creating the first and only article I submitted. I accepted that the article was rejected and that I should learn more about WIKI article creation and editing before jumping into any other subject. I do hope I will be given that opportunity.

Request reason:

Thank you for taking the time to review my previous unblock request and explanation. I take the opportunity to make future WIKI contributions seriously. Since I didn’t convey this sufficiently in my previous post, please know that I do understand now that I should not have attempted to write the article. I have read not only the WP:COI but also the WP:PSCOI. I simply should have posted on WP:REQ and left it for other editors to consider. Furthermore, I will avoid all content creation or editing related to the entertainment industry, so as not to ever be perceived as violating the WP:COI policy in the future. The topics I am particularly interested in are economics and metaphysics, as well as the literature of the Western canon. I believe these would be topics for which I would be able to make editing contributions in the future. Thank you again for your time and consideration. Respectfully, Dtwinlauser (talk) 01:19, 8 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Accept reason:

Per the comments below and your willingness to avoid editing in areas where you have a potential conflict of interest, I have unblocked your account. Yunshui  21:24, 5 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Athaenara: It seems to me that Dtwinlauser's assurances about future editing completely address the reasons for the block, so that unblocking is reasonable. Do you wish to express any opinion? JBW (talk) Formerly JamesBWatson 12:44, 5 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

@JBW: If you want to give this editor another chance to contribute to the encyclopedia in a normal non-promotional fashion, I will not object to that. – Athaenara 18:33, 5 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
