Trial by Wikipedia

edit

A California state judge ruled that teaching yoga in public school does not violate the First Amendment. The judge commented that some of those who were against the yoga program obtained information "from inaccurate sources on the Internet. 'It's almost like a trial by Wikipedia, which isn't what this court does,'" sayeth the judge.--Bbb23 (talk) 19:24, 2 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Oh, that brightened my day. I didn't know that "essay" existed. So, this is what your wikifriends do when they're not looking at that dog, even the Lady - I'm shocked.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:03, 2 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • You think Lohan is a hottie? No accounting for taste. I have it on good authority that she won't have anything to do with you until you spell her name correctly. She hasn't been in the news much lately. According to disreputable sources, I hear that she, her father, Paris Hilton, and Villaraigosa are going to host a daytime talk show. You or Malleus should create an article about it, or maybe Dennis could merge the content into his car article and dress up the co-hosts with special fins. This is what I get for reading the front page of Wikipediocracy. We should really have a policy on WP:INNING (sorta like belly buttons), revealing a real person's Wikipedia user name.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:07, 3 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Speaking of "trial", as in "tribulation", I'm working with VisualEditor. Jeez it's slow. and unclear. and stuff keeps hopping around all over the page. Drmies (talk) 01:56, 3 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

What will I do now when I want to spend two minutes scrolling down? Cullen328 Let's discuss it 03:44, 3 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Thank you for the most interesting links. I befriended this SPA at AfD a couple of years ago, who was working on a biography of an obscure 19th century cleric, Robert Lusk. That was not a good idea on my part. The article grew and grew to 128,615 bytes, much to my embarassment, and can now be read in full by only three people on the planet. And one is me. I thought that was long, but now I realize that it is just a stub in some people's minds. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 04:04, 3 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Well, it was an obvious mistake, but the IP was largely uncommunicative after the typos were back. Then again, they were indeed insignificant, and in fact, I'm the one who's on the wrong end of 3RR in this case. hmssolent\You rang? ship's log 04:42, 3 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yes, and for that I will draw a picture of a dog turd in your logbook. Now go and sin no more, and please take my advice (on your talk page) for the next time. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 04:46, 3 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Daluis may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • [France]]. Situated on the river [[Var (river)|Var]], it is the end point of the [Gorges de Daluis]].

Silesia part two

edit

The allegations being made against me on the Silesia talk page are getting out of hand. The standard 'I don't agree with you so you are POV' are par for the course accusations of holocaust denial and threats to have me arrested are unacceptable. Rsloch (talk) 19:06, 3 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Spelling is my weak point; sorry about your name.

Let me say, now, that I thought your responses showed a depth of thinking. Nice work. Tony (talk) 03:32, 4 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Hehe. As an English teacher, I had no choice. Thanks--but apparently not enough people agreed with you. Drmies (talk) 03:36, 4 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
    • Dammit, I should have caught that. Sorry Drmies, and perhaps you'll do better in the future -- you weren't too far off this time. Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 05:02, 4 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
      • No problem, Ed. I'm sorry I didn't do better. I left a few questions unanswered, I know. The insiders did as well as could be expected, and it's interesting that so few people voted overall, given our impact. Ah well. Ed, if there's any money left in the election coffers, I'm running a bit low and the old Camry needs a tune-up. Drmies (talk) 13:25, 4 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Question

edit

Are you at all aware that what you said to me was equally, if not more, insulting and has made me want to stop editing? Certainly any serious content work I was doing has come to a crashing halt since then. Victoria (talk) 16:48, 4 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Equal to what? More insulting than what? I still don't understand any of this drama. You accused me of asking someone for a second opinion, and thereby rendering your opinion of no value. Correct? But you weren't the first to weigh in on the FAC, not even the second or the third. So by the same logic that declares yours the one opinion, you're declaring their input of no value. Plus, I still don't see what was wrong with asking someone I know to be an expert for their opinion, in addition to the commentary we've already gotten. It has no bearing on what I think of your comments, and I think you missed the obvious point that if I added references and content to the article based on your comments, then I obviously did not disregard your comments.
