Wikipedia_talk:Template_messages/User_talk_namespace#Add templates for poorly sourced content?

You are invited to join the discussion at Wikipedia_talk:Template_messages/User_talk_namespace#Add templates for poorly sourced content?. I have changed a bit of my userspace to fit what some of your recommendations say to me. If you are satisfied with what I did, you may put them into the separate templates. (Don't forget to ask Twinkle!) Thanks. Qwertyxp2000 (talk | contribs) 23:28, 30 December 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for tagging me. My time's at a premium for the next week or so, but I'll try to weigh in on this at some point. DonIago (talk) 14:02, 31 December 2015 (UTC)

Emperor of the Night

I did not see that as excessive because it is highly relevant what happens to the secondary antagonist of the film, as not mentioning it makes it sound like Puppetino gets off a karma houdini like Honest John, Gideon, Stromboli, and the Coachman, but I stopped questioning wikipedia after the whole Jason Voorhees drama with its chief admin. 50.65.227.24 (talk) 21:38, 1 January 2016 (UTC)

I appreciate your intentions, but WP:FILMPLOT stipulates that a film's plot summary should be between 400-700 words. Even without your addition the summary is currently in excess of that guideline. I'd invite you to re-edit the summary such that your information is added but the overall length is reduced. Alternately, if you feel the guideline should be waived in this case, you'd be welcome to start a discussion at the article's Talk page, where other editors could weigh in on the matter and reach a consensus. Thank you for coming to me with your concerns! DonIago (talk) 04:50, 2 January 2016 (UTC)

WP:DTTR

I would suggest reviewing this as well as the edit-warring policy that you templated me with but you don't seem to understand when I examine your own behavior. My first revert was of an editor I believed to be a banned sockpuppet, which is excluded from edit-warring guidelines. I only made one revert of your edit, but you reverted me twice. Pot, meet kettle. IronGargoyle (talk) 19:33, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

Seems we both made mistakes then. DonIago (talk) 19:37, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

Sean Chapman

Hi Doniago,

What would constitute a reliable source?

Shall I add to a link to RSC's page, on which he is advertised a cast member, complete with a picture of him and his filmography?

Also, what had that person below said about Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night?

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Atten69 (talkcontribs)

A discussion of reliable sources can be found at WP:RS. Hope that will help. It's a lot more comprehensive than anything I could type up now. To be clear though, what you added wasn't about him being in a film; you'd need a source that discussed his performing in the play. DonIago (talk) 20:12, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

Reverted edit on The Matrix Revolutions

Hi, I noticed you reverted my edit in The Matrix Revolutions. Why? Thanks, --Nungalpiriggal (talk) 18:26, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

The actor you added was a non-principal. Cast sections of film articles should be limited to the major characters who appear and other notable actors/roles. DonIago (talk) 18:28, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
Thank you for your response but please note that in the article there are also some other non-major characters listed, as for instance the Tower soldier. --Nungalpiriggal (talk) 18:46, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
You're welcome to remove them as well if you're so inclined. DonIago (talk) 20:13, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

List of Transformers planets

Hi, I had added Nancy to the list of junkion charcaters, why did you revert my edit? Nancy the junkion appears in the episode of transformers the big broadcast of 2006. and is a well known junkion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Davidgoodheart (talkcontribs)

If you review the history for that article, you can see that I reverted my own edit after seeing that it was erroneous.
Also, when making a post on a Talk page, it would be helpful if you could sign your post by adding four tildes (~) to the end of it. Cheers. DonIago (talk) 21:45, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

Please note

that continuing to tag an article while refusing to discuss the grounds for your application of the tag with other editors may be considered to be disruptive editing, and can lead to being blocked from editing. Also, please try not to be a WP:dick more than absolutely necessary. BMK (talk) 06:08, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

Point me to the policy that supports that claim please. DonIago (talk) 06:16, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for the notification, but I've already expressed my opinion in that discussion. If you feel there's something where I should clarify, I could do that. DonIago (talk) 05:36, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
While I've got your attention, would you be willing to comment at Talk:Little Boxes#In popular culture? That discussion could greatly benefit from additional editorial involvement. DonIago (talk) 05:48, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
Actually, it could benefit from you discussing your specific objections to specific entries, which have steadfastly refused to do. BMK (talk) 06:09, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
You have steadfastly refused to provide any policy supporting your removal of the maintenance tag as well, and at least one other editor felt the tag was appropriate. What part of a secondary source is required is unclear to you? DonIago (talk) 06:17, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

Shakespeare in Love, US or US/UK

Hi, I am posting here because of you revert of my edit on 'S in Love'.

What makes a film's nationality? It is true that in this case the prod co was US, but the script, cast, director, location and other creative input were all at least 50% UK, I think it incomplete or misleading to describe it as simply US. I don't doubt that some sources will list it thus, as the production company was Miramax, but should not the info-box and lead be a summary of the total content, rather than the result of a single source, which MAY define nationality simply according to prod co.?

I thought the correct response to the IP's 'US' was to 'flesh-out' rather than 'pare down' to a single 'nationality'. I'm unsure as to what defines the nationality of a film on WP, obviously it is what sources say, but where they acknowledge organisational/financial input from one country and major other input from elsewhere, what is the most informative balance in the info-box and lead? Please name if replying here. Pincrete (talk) 18:48, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

ps in fact I see that you left a message on my talk, I wasn't posting US/UK, but reverting to the long term stable version, which had been altered by an IP on the strength of a single source. The question what constitutes a film's nationality still applies though. Pincrete (talk) 20:46, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

The film's nationality is defined by who owns the film; not by the underlying nationality of the cast or crew. If there's any concern regarding the nationality, it should be supported by a RS. This might be better discussed at WT:FILM...but has probably already been discussed ad infinitum in the past.
If you reverted to a last stable version, I'm okay with that (though a source would still be good to have). Next time around I might recommend mentioning that in your edit summary. I think removing a source in favor of no source is always going to be appear questionable.
Sorry for being terse, I don't have a lot of time at this particular computer right now. Cheers. DonIago (talk) 21:48, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
