This image is a faithful digitisation of a unique historic image, and the copyright for it is most likely held by the person who created the image or the agency employing the person. It is believed that the use of this image may qualify as non-free use under the Copyright law of the United States. Photo is provided by the original photographer for exclusive use in support of scholarly or educational materials detailing the history of recorded music as pertains to Alabama, Muscle Shoals, and
Mr. Jerry Masters.
Photo is owned by Mr. Dick Cooper, Curator of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. Mr. Cooper freely grants permission to use this smaller, low res version of his original photograph in support of this article dealing with Mr. Jerry Masters as it is complementary to the mission and objectives of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in providing factual, scholarly and historically accurate information that informs the efforts of those writing about or studying the development of recorded music history in Alabama as it has influenced American music as well as the international history of recorded popular music.
Mr. Dick Cooper can be reached directly at dick@dickcooper.com for verification purposes as need be.
More specifically a FAIR USE RATIONALE FOR THIS HISTORIC PHOTOGRAPH:
Fair use for JERRY LEE MASTERS, HISTORICAL BIOGRAPHY
editThough this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws, and the stricter requirements of Wikipedia's non-free content policies, because:
- It is a historically significant photo of a famous individual whose work and contributions to the development of popular recorded music from the United States recording in historic recording studios in the Muscle Shoals, Alabama area have greatly impacted the music industry. Such work is now documented in several printed titles as well as an internationally released motion picture.
- It is of much lower resolution than the original. Copies made from it will be of very inferior quality. The image has been significantly downsized from Mr. Cooper's original file.
- The photo is only being used for informational purposes in support of this historic biographical article. The image, owned by Mr. Dick Cooper, it's photographer, is administered under him through the Alabama Music Hall of Fame for which he serves as the Curator. Use of the image in support of this article is in full keeping with the educational and historic mission of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame both as a museum and as an educational resource.
- Its inclusion in the article adds significantly to the article because the photo's historical significance is key within the discussion in the article in reference to a specific place and time in American music recording history. The image is important in historically establishing the context of Mr. Masters along with other historic personages in a specific place (Muscle Shoals Sound Studio) which is on the National Historic Register of Places.
