May 2018 edit

Hello, I'm Ahecht. I noticed that you made an edit to a biography of a living person, Maddie Poppe, but you didn’t support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. Wikipedia has a strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Ahecht (TALK

February 2019 edit

Hello, I'm Bagumba. Your recent edit to the page Thon Maker appears to have added premature information about a reported sports transaction, so it has been removed for now. The transaction is based on anonymous sources and/or awaiting an official announcement. If you believe the transaction has been completed, please cite a reliable source or discuss your change on the article's talk page. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. —Bagumba (talk) 00:19, 7 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

July 2019 edit

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did on Trevor Bauer. This violates Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. – Muboshgu (talk) 03:25, 31 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Muboshgu this warning seems inappropriate given Coopachup's sourced addition. Perhaps the content in the article should say "it is rumored" or something to that effect, but to warn about adding unsourced content with a level 3 "you-may-be-blocked" template is unbecoming of an admin. Killiondude (talk) 17:35, 31 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Killiondude:, admittedly, you are right. The MLB trade deadline involves a lot of bad editing, either completely unsourced or, in the case of this particular edit by Coopachup, poorly sourced. The deal was not official until this morning, and Wikipedia is not a breaking news site. That said, I was reverting edits left and right last night and in my haste elevated that edit by Coopachup beyond where I should've. So, I'm striking the warning. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:44, 31 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
I appreciate that you struck the warning and thank you for your honesty. I agree, sometimes editing can be heated :) Hope you have a good day. Killiondude (talk) 17:51, 31 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Warning on a source edit

Sorry but I’m pretty sure that I cited my sources with a ESPN link that said that Trevor Bauer was traded to the Reds but if I did then I’m sorry. Coopachup (talk) 03:35, 31 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Coopachup, it said "according to sources" or some other unverified language. Journalists break stories because that gets them clicks and helps them keep their jobs. Even though, sometimes they rush to publish something and get it wrong. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, so we need to ensure that something officially happened before we make changes. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:45, 31 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thank you!
