incorrect stub

Stub problem!

Dear Conscious, thanks for the edit on Cyril O'Reilly, I really appreciate it but the stub information is bit problem here, O'Reilly is known as an actor not a writer, so I think we should remove the writer stub tag. Categorizing Historical Provinces of Japan

I think it might be better to leave historical provinces of Japan under the current japan-geo-stub category rather than cateogorizing them under prefectural geo-stubs. My reasoning is that there are still many that fall under more than one, and so for the sake of consistency, it would be better to keep them all together under one group. That's only my opinion, though, and I don't plan to change anything until I know that you and others who have categorized these know what I think. That's all. Thanks for your hard work in re-categorizing this huge category!

Iwate geo stub

Hi - First, thanks for helping subcategorize the Japan geo stubs. I've been going through the prefectures adding information about the mergers that are occurring, and noticed the Iwate geo stub image. I haven't looked at the rest of them, but the image for this one looks pretty much like an ink splotch (I realize it's actually the prefecture). Is there really nothing better available? How about the prefecture's symbol? Or perhaps something including the entire outline of Japan, perhaps something based on this image from the Japanese wikipedia (e.g. http://ja.wikipedia.org/upload/5/5d/Japan_stub.png, which I think is the image for their equivalent of japan-geo-stub - I think the characters are shi-cho-mura)? Changing the physics stub to a quantum stub seems a good idea, but we have to be consistent and there are lots of stuff under computational chemistry or quantum chemistry that have the physics stub. I'll try to fix some as I go along. Bduke 22:24, 26 November 2005 (UTC)

Stubs

Thanks for your notice, although ultimately I think "the regulars" are doing more harm than I am, particularly since I believe they're pretty much in violation of WP:OWN, and they think i'm no doubt in violation of WP:POINT. So, we're pretty much in a statemate, so I believe this is clear WP:IAR territory. We're probably going to keep on having problems until WP:WSS/NG is simplified to the point where it isn't even necessary. I want it so a newcomer on RC or RP patrol can type in a stub instinctively can be done without having to refrence any other pages. karmafist 17:18, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

Ask and ye shall recieve. It's sad that it's come to the point where you have to kick and stomp your feet apparently in order to get anyone to listen to you around here in regards to policy. All I can hope for is some support for the wiki-legislature plan or something like it I detailed in my candidate statements so at least there's some light at the end of the tunnel for people like me, y'know? What Consensus?

I didn't even bother with the Village Pump in regards to the stub naming because it's little more than a bunch of people spouting things off. Except in places like RFA or AFD where there are fairly clear avenues for gaining consensus and documenting when consensus is/would be achieved, there is no consensus on Wikipedia, and when people say they get consensus elsewhere, I just ignore them. Stub templates

Could I ask you to specify your point - "Please stop creating stub templates" is so general a statement I can't agree with it in any length.. If you allow me to take a guess, I would think you're talking about the various footybio-stubs I've made, and to that: no, I see no point in stopping - by making cats for each country, the euro-footybio-stub category actually becomes useful rather than the big mess it is now. I'll grant you that Swiss and Romanian stubs were pretty dumb, but I did think there were more entries, but Dutch and Portugese categories would have been better when I look at it now. But I can't see why you object to French or German categories, as they each have more entries than the Danish category. So, in short, please specify your criticism please. There's a big flaw in how you count stubs, though. Even though you can determine how many stubs are from each country in the European category, browsing through the "xxx footballers" categories shows that almost all articles are stubs, so I suspect quite a few more stub categories are needed.Poulsen 15:01, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

Stubs for deletion

I am still not all that familiar with the ins and outs of stubs and their tags. The last time around, I refrained from voting, and only mentioned that if I were to tag all the Mexican-American/Chicano articles that are stubs with this stub template, there would be lots of them. I also mentioned that I thought the stub tag might be helpful to members of the project. But since you have proposed an alternative, I see no reason why we shouldn't follow your suggestion. We seem to be more interested in creating new articles than improving the existing ones anyways. But thanks for letting us know on the project page.--Rockero 19:27, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Jamiat Ulema e Islam and Jamiat Ulema e Pakistan

Jamiat Ulema e Islam and Jamiat Ulema e Pakistan are completely different political parties - one is Barelvi and the other is Deobandi. Why did you merge them and mess it up? Change them back to separate articles, as they should be and as they were before! Please, next time, don't unknowingly mess stubs up like that. I know they sound similar (and are part of the same coalition in government) but they are different..revert it back how it was. Thanks, I don't blame you for misunderstanding the difference, but amend the mistake ASAP.

Thank you for correcting the error. I know I'm welcome to correct errors, it's just I'm new to Wikipedia you see and I'm not aware of how to do everything yet and I don't know much about all the etiquettes and the way wikipedia works. As for your queries, both parties are religious parties of two different Islamic sects who, together with Jamaat-i-Islami and others, have formed a religious alliance known as the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA). The coalition ran for the elections collectively i.e. they didn't field separate candidates as part of their individual parties but rather fielded candidates together as part of the MMA. Hence, the number of votes for them and the no. of seats won cited in the articles are the votes and seats that the MMA coalition got as a whole including both of the aforementioned parties, not the individual parties themselves - which is why they have the same figures. stub removals

Please tell me why you removed several of the "stub" invitations for expanding articles that I placed on many, many of my articles about List of Bishops of the United Methodist Church ? Does it not make sense to invite as many contributors as possible to expand as many articles as possible? I only put on those which were germaine: people, Christianity, etc. Please explain. Thanks! "NewYork" vs "New York" stubs

I am new to stubs in general, so how would I find a list of NewYork stubs? Regular search and index search on templates don't help much, therefore I have no idea what the general standard on New York stubs is. Other stubs I have seen didn't lead me to believe this was a valid pattern to be followed. What is the naming guideline that is being applied? Thanks --Censorwolf 18:12, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

You recently modified the Ann Cotton stub to specify the catgory it should be in. However, I noticed that you also removed the {{stub}} tag, without replacement. Was this intentional? If so, could you please explain what about the entry disqualifies it from being a stub? Folajimi^(talk)

Last Hope Stub

I am curious why you removed this stub? The article is still very short, and barely offers basic information. Is it only because it is a manga/comic? If it was about atomic fusion and had that short of an article would the stub have been removed? Sorry I am curious about your reasoning since I've seen articles in other areas about that length that are allowed to be called stubs. Ryokosha 17:56, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

But it's not a complete summary and those character descriptions are basic, without the stub other fans might not know it can be expanded and find it to expand. To a point I understand what you mean but it also seems to me there are other articles out there same length in terms of more then one page on the broswer that have a stub tag attached, which again makes me ask if this was anything but what it is, let's say a movie with characters and that breif of a plot, (in other words if it was that length) would it still be a stub? FIFA World Cup FA?

With some revisions to the introduction, this is bound to be an FA. With regards to the introduction, I feel that the following requirement may stop the article from becoming featured:

"It complies with the standards set out in the style manual and relevant WikiProjects. These include having: (a) a concise lead section that summarizes the entire topic and prepares the reader for the higher level of detail in the subsequent sections;"

Our lead section, put bluntly, is too long and fragmented. It needs to become more concise. Now, it's 1:40 in the morning over here, and I'm gonna try and consolidate the lead section one time... and see what happens. Once I try, I'm not doing it again tonight.

See how it looks later, and correct if need be. Hell, revert if necessary.
