Where are you getting the info on notable members of the Artists Rifles? Some of them seem to have served in other SAS regiments but not the 21st? Kernel Saunters 22:04, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Presumably you mean one of the following: Peter de la Billiere; David Davis; Ranulph Fiennes; Bear Grylls; Chris Kendall or Richard Tomlinson? I don't know who Chris Kendall is, but did not add his name. All the others did serve with 21 SAS. Colourman 11:12, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Image problems again edit
You've just uploaded two images which will be deleted because they do not have the proper licence. I've explained that just above and you've ignored it. Please use the proper licence. It is a wikipedia requirement.
There are two images on Stanisława de Karłowska, where you state you own the picture and the copyright. Merely owning a picture in the family collection does not give you any rights. This would only apply if you are the inheritor of the estate. If this is the case, you need to clarify this and would be best advised to notify the Wikimedia Foundation of it. You an email "permissions-en AT wikimedia DOT org". They will then give you an OTRS ticket which you can put on the image page to prevent any challenge to your uploading of the image.

Uploading your images edit
No problem. It is a confusing business. In the case of Robert Bevan, the works are out of copyright for wikipedia purposes, since he died over 70 years ago. In this case you need to put on the image page:
The source of the image (e.g. URL if from a web site or state if it is your own photo)
His dates, to show that he died over 70 years ago

That will then assure the image is not deleted. You can use images of his work obtained from any source, books or the internet, as US law says reproductions of 2D work are not copyright, if the actual 2D work is out of copyright, which it is in this case.
The works of Stanisława de Karłowska are in copyright. I understand that you own the copyright to her work.The best course of action would be to email the Wikimedia Foundation at "permissions-en AT wikimedia DOT org" (replacing AT and DOT with appropriate symbols), explaining that you have inherited the estate and the copyright to the works of this artist. They will then issue you with a code (an OTRS ticket) which you can put on the relevant image page. This has happened with User:VAwebteam, representing the V&A museum, as with this image for example: Image:Virgin and child with cat.jpg.
When you upload the image you will need to state the source of it, add the OTRS ticket and state what licence you are permitting for use. The easiest licence is GFDL. See User_talk:VAwebteam#GFDL for some information about this. You simply need to put on the image page:

You can specify that the licence is only for the particular file if you only want to release a low resolution version. If it is your copyright, then you do not have to restrict yourself to work that you own. You will be able to use images from other sources also.
It is preferable, though not mandatory, to upload the image at the Commons, as this then makes it available to other language wikipedias also.

I am afraid that I find the whole business of uploading images somewhat daunting. I would like to add further ones, but don't want to run into any problems with copyright or breach Wikipedia etiquette. At the moment I am working away on other areas of research / interest. Hi, Colourman. I saw that you added John Roddam Spencer Stanhope to the list of notable members of the Artists Rifles and added his article page to that category. Since the article itself contains no mention of this affiliation, I was wondering whether you could either add this information, or point me to your source on the talk page. Two sources that confirm that Stanhope was a member of the Artists Rifles are:
1) Oswald Doughty, A Victorian Romantic, Frederick Muller, London 1949. 260. 2) Haunted Texts. Studies in Pre-Raphaelitism in honour of William Evan Fredeman. David Latham (editor). University of Toronto Press. p.33 fn 3 "The Pre-Raphaelite members of the Artists Rifles Corps in 1859, all volunteers, included Ford Madox Brown, Burne-Jones, Holman Hunt, Millais, Morris, Val Prinsep, Dante Rossetti, Simeon Solomon, Roddy Stanhope, and Algernon Swinburne! Fredeman's account of their militia experience includes such examples as Hunt forever losing parts of his disassembled rifle, Morris confusing his right from his left during close order drill, 'invariably begg[ing] pardon of the comrade whom he found himself facing.' Rossetti having to question and quarrel over the reason for every command, and Brown shooting his own dog 'the first time he was set to target practice' ('Visionary Vanities,' 10)." One can imagine that a volunteer regiment intended for home defence would accept Ross (if only for PR purposes), even though he was 58 at the time. On the other hand, Ross's sons were all crack shots as well and I do wonder whether the Professor's Horatio Ross might not be Horatio Senftenberg John Ross (1834-1898). The source is: Caroline Dakers. The Holland Park Circle. 1999. 175. She says: "He was immensely sociable, 'one of those rich men who never have any ready money', a member of many clubs (ranging from the establishment Athenaeum to the scurrilous Judge and Jury), a rat-hunter and opium addict, owner of a number of characterful dogs and parrots. Leighton, Prinsep and Moore, neighbours in Holland Park, had known him for years through the Hogarth Club, the Arts Club and in the Artists Rifles. He was nearly expelled from the Arts Club for stamping on members' hats in a drunken frenzy." [ref Mordaunt Crook. William Burges. p.89]
Burges also sponsored Robert Edis as a member of the Regiment. One had to be a member to sponsor another man.
