Help me!

Please help me with…removing links in the reference section on the article about the Creek Meeting house

( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creek_Meeting_House_and_Friends%27_Cemetery )

I can't tell where the references for #1 are and I don't think they are appropriate or useful links at this location. Thanks

ClintonMuseum (talk) 17:09, 2 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello ClintonMuseum, welcome to Wikipedia. The first reference is the website of the National Register of Historic Places which, while notoriously uncomfortable to both navigate and link to, will allow you to search for the given reference number of 89000299 and confirm that the Creek Meeting House and Friends' Cemetery was indeed listed in the NRHP under that reference number on April 27, 1989 as part of the Dutchess County Quaker Meeting Houses. I'd provide a link to the specific page but as I said the NRHP's web page is notoriously difficult to link to, and their search results don't allow links at all since they're created based on session data; the documents related to this listing haven't been digitized yet, so I can't link to those, either. Still I don't see why the NRHP would be inappropriate.
On an entirely unrelated note, your username violates Wikipedia's username policy. Wikipedia accounts are for individuals, not for groups or organizations; shared use of accounts is not permitted, and the username must reflect that it's an individual's account. Please request a new username. If you want your username to be associated with the museum, a username such as "John at Clinton Museum" would be acceptable. Huon (talk) 18:08, 2 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your quick reply There are better places for a link to the National Register as well as better links, such as the one I used at the end of piece

The second link in reference #1 for the National Park Service seems completely irrelevant. My username is a reference to my private museum open to the public for a few years in the mid 1960's. There are no individuals associated with it other than myself. Better if I drop the capital M? Clintonmuseum? Thanks and Regards 100.40.139.37 (talk) 19:13, 2 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

That reference uses a dedicated citation template, namely Template:NRISref. The second link points to the publisher of the source, the National Register.
Regarding your username, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, but it sounds a lot as if it represented an organization, not an individual, and I rather don't think getting rid of the capital letter would suffice to change that. I'd suggest you add a note to your user page that explains this is indeed an individual account. Huon (talk) 00:43, 3 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
