 Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Happy editing! Cheers, Curbon7 (talk) 11:56, 22 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, @Curbon7. I appreciate your welcome message.  – CityUrbanism 🗩 🖉 17:39, 22 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Consider undoing your move closure edit

Hello CityUrbanism. Your closure of the move request at Talk:Grey Goose (vodka) has been challenged by some editors at WP:RMTR. If you feel that your closure ought to be revisited, the simplest is for you to undo the closure and leave it for someone else. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 17:44, 8 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

@EdJohnston: I've undone the closure. Did I misinterpret consensus? I'd like to find out, as I don't want to wrongly perform WP:NACs and other things in the future.  – CityUrbanism 🗩 🖉 17:55, 8 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
The vibes are (to me) that a commercial product that reuses a species name shouldn't be preferred over the species. Also, WP:DIFFCAPS is tricky and the question of capitalizing species has caused a lot of trouble in the past. Then, there appeared to be a tie vote. So it didn't look to me like a consensus to move. EdJohnston (talk) 18:05, 8 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
@EdJohnston: Okay, I'm sorry. Will you be closing it as no consensus now?  – CityUrbanism 🗩 🖉 18:31, 8 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Let's wait a bit and see if someone else wants to close it. EdJohnston (talk) 00:53, 9 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Encore Global edit

Hello User:CityUrbanism, please take Encore Global out of speedy deletion mode since I brought this into Draft Space. I will come back to this later when it has better references / sources. Thanks, and happy holidays! :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vikiemoney (talkcontribs) 14:30, 9 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Done as requested. Just take care to not submit or move to mainspace without ensuring it's ready. Add {{help me}} to a message on it's talk page, or on your own talk page, to receive advice from an experienced editor. Also, please make sure your comments on my talk page are properly formatted per WP:TPG, this wasn't great. – CityUrbanism 🗩 🖉 14:39, 9 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Draft edit

Sorry I meant that Onel may have rather moved it to draft, but the thread has already criticised them for doing so. -- LCU ActivelyDisinterested transmissions °co-ords° 17:21, 9 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Ai Uehara edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ai Uehara requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ai Uehara. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Notice for declined CSD edit

  I noticed that you tagged User:20 Enderdude 20/sandbox/20 Enderdude 20 for speedy deletion under criterion G6. I have removed the tag from the page because it does not meet the criterion specified. Please fully read Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion before tagging pages for speedy deletion. Thank you. Techie3 (talk) 11:34, 12 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Techie3 Thanks for letting me know. I've tagged it with the correct tag now, WP:G3.  – CityUrbanism 🗩 🖉 11:36, 12 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
I don't think G3 is a good tag here either. A sandbox is a place for a user to make test edits. While this may look like vandalism, because it's a sandbox, I don't think G3 is appropriate. I'd also be careful of messing with people's userspaces in general. For example I don't really agree with you moving TheresNoTime's draft out of their userspace. Submitted AFC drafts in userspace are fine to move to draftspace, but unsubmitted drafts... I think those usually aren't moved. Hope this helps. –Novem Linguae (talk) 11:39, 12 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Novem Linguae, User:TheresNoTime's draft had been put up for adoption at Wikipedia:WikiProject Abandoned Drafts.  – CityUrbanism 🗩 🖉 11:42, 12 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
I don't really agree with Wikipedia:WikiProject Abandoned Drafts#Stale userspace drafts #8, which you were probably following when you decided to move it. What often happens is experienced users use their userspace to protect drafts from WP:G13 six month deletion. Once it's out of userspace, it loses that protection. If the draft is moved to draftspace and not submitted, it is unlikely that anyone will look at it, and it will be deleted in 6 months. With all that said, I will defer to TheresNoTime and let them decide if they want to move it back. But I'm just letting you know that moving people's userspace drafts to draftspace without asking could be controversial. Hope this helps. –Novem Linguae (talk) 11:50, 12 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Novem Linguae Okay, thank you.  – CityUrbanism 🗩 🖉 12:10, 12 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
In general, user sandboxes has a lesser standard of quality as they are test pages. So don't tag unless there is something really wrong about a sandbox. Techie3 (talk) 11:41, 12 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Techie3 Understood. Thank you for letting me know.    – CityUrbanism 🗩 🖉 11:44, 12 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Read WP:DELETEOTHER, it show what is expected for userpages. Techie3 (talk) 11:48, 12 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Techie3 With hindsight, I should have probably removed Template:Userspace draft from Special:Diff/1026222811, as it was populating Category:Stale userspace drafts.  – CityUrbanism 🗩 🖉 12:14, 12 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

G13 edit

Please stop tagging user subpages for deletion using {{db-afc}}. WP:G13 only applies to userspace if it is tagged with {{AFC submission}} or contains article wizard placeholder text only. WP:ABANDON#Stale userspace drafts suggests how to handle the type of drafts you have been tagging. plicit 14:55, 12 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Explicit Okay, will do.    – CityUrbanism 🗩 🖉 14:58, 12 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Explicit: Just out of curiosity, how would I tag a page such as User:ADERW/sandbox/Lil Puff? – CityUrbanism 🗩 🖉 15:09, 12 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
That page does not need to be tagged. Instructions for removing the maintenance category are here. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:35, 12 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Blocked as a sockpuppet edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for abusing multiple accounts as a sockpuppet of User:Tbf69 per the evidence presented at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Tbf69. Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Spicy (talk) 21:38, 12 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

- edit

Now this is depressing.

All my edits have been good faith.

This account was an attempt at a clean start.

Every unblock request I've submitted to unblock ticket request system has been rejected.

I have a proposal, that I be banned from editing only other editors userspace. Consider it.  – CityUrbanism 🗩 🖉 13:27, 13 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Did you read WP:CLEANSTART? A user must be in good standing to qualify for a clean start.
You should read WP:STANDARDOFFER. Go away for awhile. Come back the right way when you understand why you were blocked, no less than six months from now, probably a year because you now have used a WP:SOCKPUPPET. -- Mike 🗩 13:43, 13 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Darth Mike What about WP:ROPE?
The big issue with keeping me blocked is that other users have been given temporary blocks (usually a month or 6 months) for much worse stuff. People being huge dicks and making personal attacks don't get indef blocked, unless they repeat.
@HJ Mitchell blocked me while my behaviour was under discussion at ANI, and I fully accept that. I accept responsibility and apologise for everything I've done wrong here. But what's key is I've done a lot right. And whats more, everything I've done right has been in mainspace, so if I'm unblocked and restricted to mainspace, then I can regain the trust of the community.  – CityUrbanism 🗩 🖉 14:11, 13 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
WP:ROPE is just an essay, WP:CLEANSTART is a policy. Stop focusing on other people. Take a break and come back when things settle down with a good unblock request. -- Mike 🗩 17:19, 13 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
  1. Either you haven't read Wikipedia:Clean start or you have read it and not understood it. What you were doing was not attempting a clean start as defined there: it was attempting to evade a block.
  2. If after all that has been said, you still think that editing in other editors' userspaces is the only problem, then you clearly don't have enough understanding of the problems to be able to avoid causing similar problems in future.
  3. No, not every unblock request you've submitted to the unblock ticket request system has been rejected; there is one more that is still outstanding, but that one will be declined once I have posted this message, because you recently have been evading your block with another account. Evading a block is a very effective way of ensuring that no administrator will unblock your original account, and I can virtually guarantee that for that reason alone you will not be unblocked for at least six months from now, so don't even bother to submit any more unblock requests in less time than that. (If you are so foolish as to try to evade your block again during that time, you will be heading well towards guaranteeing that no administrator will ever unblock you.)
  4. As you know, your access to the talk page of your original account was removed to prevent you from continuing to make talk page posts, as a result of misuse of the ability to do so. Doing the same thing on a different talk page is no better, so I shall remove access to this page too. JBW (talk) 14:14, 13 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
