Speedy deletion of Bruce H. Billings

A tag has been placed on Bruce H. Billings requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Hi, Ciara

and thanks for your contributions. While your aim to include all the presidents of the society may be laudable, I fear that you may not be going about it in the best possible way in the long term. Perhaps you can understand that Wikipedia doesn't need articles about the president of every society in the world, so just making articles with that claim is liable to run into trouble. I suspect that the presidents of the Optical Society of America are notable for other things other than the just the presidency thing. If they meet the criteria for notability per WP:BIO or more specifically WP:PROF then it will be worth your while to go more slowly, and expand the articles immediately with more details about why they meet our criteria for inclusion (including secondary reliable sources). Otherwise you might meet with some frustration as articles get deleted.
