@Laurel Lodged: that's not really true. Per WP:QUALIFIER, point 2, "With place names, if the disambiguating term is a higher-level administrative division, it is often separated using a comma instead of parentheses". That doesn't apply here though, as the Cathedral is clearly not a place name. Therefore it should use parentheses, as does St. Patrick's Cathedral (Manhattan) for example. It seems like there are a large number of wrongly named buildings in Ireland and the UK already though, so I guess you're right that this one has to go back to its incorrect name for consistency.  — Amakuru (talk) 07:53, 6 May 2021 (UTC)

@Amakuru: I don't agree with that interpretation. See the disambiguation page St. Patrick's Cathedral where all instances use the comma. Manhattan ought to conform. Laurel Lodged (talk) 08:02, 6 May 2021 (UTC)

@Laurel Lodged: well I've linked the policy above where the rule is defined. I don't see how a cathedral could be defined as a "place name", and place names are the only kind of entity where the policy says we should use a comma. As I said above though, editors in the Commonwealth countries (and Ireland) have been doing this wrong for years, so it's probably a job too far to correct it at this point and this is all a moot point. All buildings and structures in the US use parentheses though, as you can see at St._Patrick's_Cathedral#United_States or Category:Statues in New York (state), so certainly the Manhattan one should stay as it is. @Amakuru: The disambiguating term is the geographic location, not the object itself. So "Dublin" is the disambiguator. Since Dublin is a "higher-level administrative division", then it needs a comma. Laurel Lodged (talk) 11:05, 6 May 2021 (UTC)

As someone who had to clean up a page title mess regarding St. Patrick's (Manhattan) mess recently, I should chime in. It does conform with disambiguation policy for US structures, for which literally all buildings and structures use parentheses, except for a few scattered violations. Actual populated places like Turtle Bay, Manhattan do use commas, but buildings do not, at least not in the US.

In the UK, Ireland, and elsewhere, I understand buildings and structures use comma disambiguators, and that is fine. In the US, the convention is parentheses. Since St. Patrick's (Manhattan) is in the US is not a neighborhood, city, town, etc, it does not use a comma. Epicgenius (talk) 02:31, 8 May 2021 (UTC)

I screwed up, by being well-intentioned with page moves; I tried too hard to be helpful. I would prefer to make a clean start if I could. I'm not a POV-pusher, spammer etc. or someone writing misinformation, I want to be helpful. I did wrong, yes, and I admit it. I did make good edits 2018-2019 but cocked up.

I'm having a hard time finding any useful edits that you've made; digging back before the pages and pages of pointless moves, I see a long pattern of unsourced edits, and in a few of the cases where you did use a source, that source was pretty shaky in terms of WP:RS. Even if you agreed to stop moving pages as an unblock condition (which would clearly be necessary), I'm not sure if doing so would be net benefit to the project.
