REPLIES TO ME

Please reply to my comments on the same page under my original comment; I'm almost certainly
 watching the page for replies.
It is easier to follow a dialog that is all on one page.
You can mention here that you have replied on the other page, to make sure I notice.
You can also start a dialog here, but first you might ask yourself if we should use the Talk:
page of an article, so others can more easily participate in the conversation.

Welcome

edit

Hello Charm, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! --Lexor|Talk 15:28, 12 Sep 2004 (UTC)

My First New Article

edit

Okay, I'm about to save my first brand new article. I'm certainly making some mistakes, and I'm nervous about it; so please, be gentle.

My VFD vote

edit

(Regarding Wikipedia:Votes_for_deletion/2004_U.S._Election_controversies_and_irregularities)

[to Rdsmith4Dan | Talk] Hi. You obviously have been here a lot longer than I have, so perhaps you can help? I'm concerned that the comment you added to an anon vote almost appears to apply to my vote as well because of the indentation. However, if I move the indentation of the anon vote out to match the other votes, then it will get its own number in the numbered list, and will then appear to be counted. Could you help me figure out how to set it apart (horizontal rules, a new section for Anon votes, or some other better idea you come up with) from my vote without adding it to the count? Thanks in advance. Charm 21:46, Nov 13, 2004 (UTC)

I've reformatted it a bit so the anonymous vote is numbered the same as the others - it should be quite clear now that my comment does not refer to your vote. — Dan | talk 22:18, 13 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Thanks. I guess it doesn't matter that much that the anon vote is being counted now, because the admins will review the votes? (Not to mention it appears a pretty convincing consensus anyway.) Charm 22:24, Nov 13, 2004 (UTC)

Correct. Current policy dictates that anonymous votes not be deleted, simply ignored when it comes time to determine whether there's a consensus. — Dan | talk 23:32, 13 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Edits to policy pages

edit

I've made the changes that you requested. Thanks for finding them. You got me to notice some other requests on the article Talk pages (such as for interwiki link additions), so I took care of those too. --Slowking Man 06:20, Jan 2, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for tidying the problem edits on my user page and talk page. --Muchness 08:57, 25 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the tip. I apologize for any inconvenience I may have caused. I rarely have time to go on wikipedia and therefore have yet to become aquainted with protocol for communicating on this site. Now that I've been made privy to the standard practices of wikipedia, I shall abide by that rubric. Thanks again and by the way, I found your user page to be quite fascinating. I've never in all my years met an intersexual person nor have I even heard of the term until I saw it on your page. I've heard of transsexual, transtesticle, and transvestite, but never intersexual. This is exceptionally odd seeing as I own 3 restaurants on South Beach!!!

Veganism dispute

edit

I have removed your post at 3O, because this informal process is for disputes that involve two editors. Multi-party disputes, particularly if a mediation request has been filed (and rejected), should use RFC. I wish you well in successfully resolving the issue. Adrian M. H. 13:05, 3 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Adrian. I don't think you realize that Repeat2341 made the request regarding Veganism, not Charm. I have responded on that user's talk page. Since I knew it would take me a while to write my response, I added {{Work in Progress}} to the request first, hoping this would let other "third opinion givers" know what I was doing. I may also post a response at Talk:Veganism. Charm © 13:57, 3 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please use {{Unresolved}} for un-{{Resolved}} talk page issues that are important enough to require special flagging. {{Work in Progress}} is for WP:WQA, not general usage. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 21:28, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Shortcut WP:NAC

edit

I see you have the shortcut WP:NAC linked in your user space. This currently links to the community portal. Would you be opposed to eliminating this shortcut redirect to the portal in order to reuse it for Wikipedia:non-admin closure? You are one of two people currently using the shortcut, according to it's "waht links here" special page. Thanks, JERRY talk contribs 16:03, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have gone forward with usurping this redirect shortcut. Please elt me know if you see this a s a problem. JERRY talk contribs 20:57, 25 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Certification of Usurping Requests

edit

I have created my Single Unified Login with English Wikipedia as the home wiki. English WikiNews and Wiktionary, plus Meta, were attached automatically by password. I have attached the Esperanto Wikipedia by logging in there. I would like to attach English WikiBooks and WikiQuote plus Commons. Charm © 01:03, 3 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Links to track status
  • The existing Charm has 6 contributions which all appear to be advertising for DifferenceBetween.net. I have been instructed to nominate them for deletion before the name can be usurped.
  • I posted (on January 4) a request for the existing user to consent to a name change.
  • I have also been instructed to usurp (or get current user's consent) on the German, Japanese, and Polish Wikipedias.

I am also going to request usurping at the following non-English Wikipedias. I wouldn't necessarily bother, except recent history at Commons suggests I might have difficulty getting Charm usurped there while unattached Charms exist anywhere else.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
