Still working on my draft page and there are tons to video tutorials. How can I properly edit a cited source without deleting the citation? Is there a "great" video I can reference?Cassandrajohnsonpr (talk) 16:40, 23 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

I'm new to this and I want to make sure my page does not get deleted. I'm having trouble with citing my sources.

Not a problem; thanks for contributing to Wikipedia! Your article was moved here, where it won't be tagged for deletion (it won't be deleted unless it isn't edited for six months). Your article is now a draft, which means you can edit and improve it, and when you're ready, submit it for review, at which point if it passes review it will move into mainspace, and if it doesn't you can keep improving it. Don't submit right away though - there was a reason your article was originally tagged for deletion. Basically, we have a policy called WP:BLP that means that all biographies of living people must have reliable sources, because otherwise there could be especially large problems outside of just people reading possibly incorrect facts. That was the first problem with your article. The second is a policy called WP:Notability, which means that entries in the encyclopedia must be notable. You can't write about the delivery guy or your younger sister or just anyone, you have to write about people who have done something important or noteworthy. We judge notability by the quantity and quality of sources of the article. Think about it like this: an article with sources from CNN, the New York Times, or another major news organization is going to be much better than an article where the only sources are the person or organization's website. Hopefully this helps you improve your article. Ask me questions on my talk page if you have any questions. Finally, don't let this discourage you - everyone has had articles deleted or rejected, even the most experienced editors. You might want to read through the page Wikipedia:Your first article for more advice. Best of luck, and have a great day! --Nerd1a4i (talk) 01:17, 18 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Cassandrajohnsonpr, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as $K, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may not be retained.

Proposed deletion of $K edit

The article $K has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Speedy deletion nomination of $K edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on $K requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. reddogsix (talk) 00:30, 18 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
