Proposed deletion of Riff Raff (Argentine magazine)Edit

The article Riff Raff (Argentine magazine) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

A beer for you!Edit

Nestor Kirchner is now a GA. It's an important article, and the review was a long haul, so well done! It's thirsty work, so here's a beer. Vanamonde (talk) 17:27, 6 May 2017 (UTC)

On a slightly different note; you did stellar work with the article, and the GA status is now well deserved. The time we took to hammer out the prose, though, suggests to me that English is possibly not your primary language. Therefore, and I mean this in an entirely constructive way, it may be worth your while sending your articles to the WP:GOCE. They can help with prose typically to a greater extend than a reviewer can (because they don't have to worry about seeming involved in the article) and in any case, extra eyes on prose can never hurt. This might increase the wait a little bit, but it will make both your work and that of the reviewer much easier. Best regards, Vanamonde (talk) 17:31, 6 May 2017 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Néstor KirchnerEdit

The article Néstor Kirchner you nominated as a good article has failed  ; see Talk:Néstor Kirchner for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of the article. Presidents of ArgentinaEdit

I would appreciate it if you would 'at least' put something in your edit-summaries, instead just blanket reverting me. GoodDay (talk) 19:42, 19 May 2017 (UTC)

WARNING: do not revert a legitimate talk page edit, without very clear justificationEdit

Hello, please do NOT revert a perfectly valid talk page edit as you did here. In doing so, you are trying to enforce your seriously BIASED point of view, in that not only are you trying to include the Falkland Islands into WikiProject:Argentina, when you know that the Falkland Islands are NOT part of Argentina; you furthermore tried to hide the fact that the Falkland Islands were part of the WikiProject Argentina by HIDING it within the banner shell template.

Should you continue to VANDALISE and try to enforce your blatantly biased point of view, I will report you to the Administrators Noticeboard. 82.132.241.153 (talk) 17:00, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

A friendly advise: Don't shoot yourself in the foot. Please try to calm down, do something else and come back in a couple of hours, and analize things with a cooler head before you fill a report that may eventually turn against you. Cambalachero (talk) 18:45, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

You're just going to fail it without another word?Edit

I at least thought you'd say something more to us before you just went and failed nu metal. I don't see how that's completely fair, but I guess it's not really against any rules. dannymusiceditor Speak up! 11:46, 24 May 2017 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of María Luján LamasEdit

The article María Luján Lamas has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Dispute at Talk:Mauricio MacriEdit

Hello, i'm not sure if you have seen but there is currently a content dispute between myself and an IP editor at Talk:Mauricio Macri over whether we should classify Federico Pinedo as the Acting President of Argentina. The discussion is composed of just us two and i've reached the conclusion that we cannot come to consensus and I was wondering if you would be willing to come in and assist in dispute resolution between the two of us. Congratulations for taking this article to GA.--Jetstreamer Talk 19:33, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
I am sad about the DYK nom. What I do in such a case: find some red link connected, write that, and mention her in the DYK, - the mentioned article often gets just many clicks as the bold subject. (I usually write about a singer performing a certain work, when I can't expand the work enough to qualify.) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:18, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
It's not a big deal. I worked in the article to complete a series of good articles about the contemporary presidents of Argentina (Macri, the current one, is the only one that is not a GA yet). That's my actual goal, not the main page, that's just an accessory thing in the way to that. --Cambalachero (talk) 02:29, 10 July 2017 (UTC)

Stop reverting edits for no reason.Edit

You reverted my edition to the Santiago Maldonado Case article which had nothing wrong or misleading (I only added links and a day counter) and put nothing on the summary. 2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. Re: Dirty War in ArgentinaEdit

I have noticed that several well-sourced paragraphs have been removed when going back in time and looking at the Wikipedia page to do with the Dirty War in Argentina as it appeared in early 2017. There appears to be an attempt to whitewash or present a more sanitized version of events, blaming conservative and Right-Wing Argentines and demonizing the military, while concealing the crimes of the Left-Wing Guerrilla Armies of the ERP and Montoneros. Your observations on this matter are most welcome.(Temruog (talk) 00:48, 24 July 2018 (UTC))

Oh, I can edit in Spanish Wikipedia, I just don't want to. That project is a joke, it does not have real policies, and refuses to have them (I tried to change that in the past, to no avail, and saw other attempts that also failed). For example, verifiability. Yes, articles must be verified in reliable sources, but if there are no standards on what is and what isn't a reliable source, then it's just meaningless jargon. I can use Chariots of the Gods? as a reference, say "Erich von Däniken is a reliable source, because I say so", and get away with it. Or neutrality, any weird claim or conspiracy theory that can be verified has to be treated as a noteworthy point of view (or even be treated as truth in wikipedia's voice); for example the article about the death of Hugo Chávez cites uncritically Maduro's claim that foreign countries were involved in Chávez' cancer (the full conspiracy theory is that he was attacked with a "cancer gun", a complete nonsense that does not endure the most minimal scientific check). Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:18, 9 August 2018 (UTC)

Copy edit of Mauricio MacriEdit

I've done some copy edit and have a few questions/notes about Mauricio Macri:

  • The section titles might benefit from a little tweaking. §Early life includes material up to 2010, into his fifties and his political career. Maybe that section could be retitled Early life and marriages or Personal life? §Political career could logically contain the sections which follow it, or it could be retitled something like Political beginnings or Early political career.
  • He arranged that the Boca Juniors institution worked in the stock exchange, to earn enough money to buy new players. I'm not sure what this means. Was the club traded on the stock exchange? (I note that last year's GA reviewer was also confused by this.)
  • I changed reelectedre-elected for consistency (similarly with pre-election). I generally like to hyphenate the double vowel, but feel free to revert.
  • midnight on 10 December This could be ambiguous. I changed it to midnight on the morning of 10 December.
  • He called on "all Argentines to follow his administration ..." The "his" sounds a bit weird if this is directly quoting Macri. I put it in [brackets], but maybe check if the quote is actually from someone else.
  • the Central Bank would operate on the price of dollar only when it surpassed certain requirements. I might be misunderstanding this. Why would the Central Bank of Argentina operate on the US dollar? Should this be [Argentine] peso? Or was the peso so unstable that they started using US currency?
  • and tried to remove the country from Mercosur I presume he was trying to remove Venezuela from Mercosur, but thought I should check that this didn't mean Argentina.
  • Kirchner ended in a distant second place, as a result of the higher turnout for the general elections. Is this about Kirchner herself or her party in the overall elections? Was Kirchner out of political office altogether?
  • Franco Macri admitted hiring private agencies to spy on Daniel Leonardo I just want to check for the wiretapping case, that it was Mauricio Macri who was indicted and not his father Franco Macri.
  • I think there was a bit of overlinking, and I tried to make sure things were only linked once per section, and to use surnames rather than full names where unambiguous.
  • I suspect that "30th Chairman of Boca Juniors" should be given less prominence in the infobox. It's notable, but it's not what he's primarily notable for and it's not a public office. Usually the occupation/employer/organization parameters are used for current information, but including the years in parenthesis should be okay.
  • I put some of the material that I didn't feel was essential in <!--wikicomments--> to make it easier if you want to restore it.

I didn't make a lot of big changes to the prose, which generally looked pretty good to me. Please let me know about the above points and I'll give the article a final polish. Thanks! – Reidgreg (talk) 21:57, 21 May 2019 (UTC)

Thank you. I clarified the stock exchange thing, it was for selling shares of active football players. No, Argentina does not use dollars as currency, but there is little local industry and the peso is a very weak currency in international markets: that means that the price of the US dollar (meaning, how many pesos do you need to buy a dollar locally) is a highly important issue in local economics, as a sudden rise in that price increases the prices of all imported products and products made locally from imported stuff. In those cases, the Central Bank sells some of its own dollars, to compensate and lower the price. As for the mercosur, I replaced "the country" with "that country", that should make it clear that it was about Venezuela (which I had already mentioned in that sentence and shouldn't repeat, that would be in bad style). As for Kirchner, each province (the administrative division below the country itself) has its own results, and political parties are not as clear-cut as, for example, Republicans and Democrats in the US. Some parties win in their provinces but do not run elsewhere, and some parties are allied in some provinces and rivals in others. Usually the result at the Buenos Aires province is considered the most important one, as it is by far the most populated province, so I mentioned it. And you may be right about the Boca Juniors bit in the infobox, I never gave it much thought. I will search around the project a bit, to check what is being done in articles with a similar circumstace. Cambalachero (talk) 16:49, 22 May 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick reply! I looked over your changes and went through the article one more time, making some tweaks. I think I may have made a mistake with the $50 billion IMF loan and listed it as $50 trillion! (I might have gotten mixed up, some countries use decimals instead of commas to separate groups of three digits.) Now fixed. – Reidgreg (talk) 21:32, 22 May 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Rosario portalEdit

A tag has been placed on Category:Rosario portal requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read!
