Draft: Dino Bontis edit

Hello, @Brachy0008, hope you're well.

The Draft Article for Dino Bontis has been updated with a recent link that shows the subject has signed a USports contract for the 2024 CPL soccer season on April 12, 2024. In your earlier comments, you had stated, "We want secondary sources". The sources included in the draft article meet the Wikipedia criteria of: notability, reliability, secondary, and independence.

notability: The subject has signed a professional contract with Forge FC + reprsented Canada on the U15 and U20 national teams + competed in the Concacaf championships. (These notable achievements have been covered by secondary news sources The Hammer and Northern Tribune which are cited).

reliability: The subject competes on a verifiable professional club, in a verifiable league, and has also represented Canada internationally. (All of these sources are legitimate including the source websites https://forgefc.canpl.ca/ and https://canadasoccer.com/)

secondary: The article contains several sources that are secondary to the professional club which describes the subject competing with Canada's national team, the Western Mustangs, and Sigma FC. (The sources include The Hammer, Northern Tribune, Western Mustangs, USports).

independence: In addition to the independent sources listed above, the subject Dino Bontis is also listed on other published Wikipedia pages as follows:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_Forge_FC_season

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_CONCACAF_U-20_Championship_squads#Canada

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CONCACAF_Under-13_Champions_League

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sigma_FC

I appreciate your review @Brachy0008 and thank you for your contributions. 9ClearBubbles (talk) 15:23, 17 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for addressing the message I left you, I will do another source review (if you can, feel free to find more sources). Brachy08 (Talk) 22:16, 17 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@9ClearBubbles, regarding the source review, The Hammer [reaches] out to the appropriate parties and individuals to confirm any tips or other information we might receive from various sources, so it seems to be a bit of a primary source (but still mostly secondary source). Quoting its editorial policy, If we receive information about an individual or organization that is accusatory or unflattering in nature, we give the other party ample time (typically no less than 24 hours) to respond, which might be a concern when it comes to reliability (for me, that is). Brachy08 (Talk) 03:53, 18 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Good day @Brachy0008. Regarding "The Hammer", according to its website, it is a news site published by Insauga. The term "The Hammer" is a term that makes reference to the City of Hamilton, Ontario. Hamilton used to be a very industrial city with several large steel companies (Stelco, Dofasco, Slater Steel, Frost Fence) and the visual of a "hammer" makes reference to the city's steel roots. This is the reason the football club in Hamilton is also called Forge FC as it makes reference to the "forging of steel". The website publishes news stories about various happenings in Hamilton. The secondary resource link that makes reference to the subject Dino Bontis as a football player for Forge FC is here: The Hammer . You will notice the news site's editorial policy and efforts to publish accurate stories. Its editorial guidelines pageoutline its commitment to accurate and timely information, fairness, transparency and independence. 9ClearBubbles (talk) 18:00, 19 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
I suppose the Hammer checks out. Great job. Brachy08 (Talk) 23:38, 19 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
I also can't find anything regarding Northern Tribune's reliability. The Western Mustangs source is a statistic, so there is not really any significant coverage from it, even if it is reliable. Same for the USports source Brachy08 (Talk) 04:10, 18 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Good day @Brachy0008. Regarding The Western Mustangs website, it confirms that Dino Bontis was a soccer player for Western University and is on the official roster. Another independent website source is from the OUA. It is quoted as saying, "Bontis brothers have been standouts, with Dino Bontis making 12 saves in two clean sheets". The significance of the USports source, although only a statistic, is the importance of the statistic. This independent source speaks to the notability of the player. The subject is listed among the top goalkeepers in the nation and is ranked #1 on the list of goalie leaders with a save percentage of 0.877 for the 2023 season. Another independent website at Global Sports Archive describes several statistics that illustrate the players notable achievements including representing Canada internationally at the U15 and U20 levels. Another independent website at 49 Sport describes the performance of the subject durng the past season and predicts that he will be drafted and sign a pro soccer deal as follows: "Bontis’ 2023 was utterly remarkable, stepping into the role as one of OUA’s best shot-stoppers. 50 saves was only 3rd-best, but it’s about when those saves came that made the difference.  He guided Western to a playoff victory, going on the road against a tough Guelph side and keeping the Mustangs in the contest with 7 saves. They lost to York in the quarterfinal after extra time, but he still spectacularly made 10 stops." Another independent news source is from the Canadian Press as published on CBC which describes Bontis on the roster of Canada's U20 National soccer team. 9ClearBubbles (talk) 18:18, 19 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Statistics, reliable or not, still can't establish notability (see WP:SPORTCRIT). Brachy08 (Talk) 23:39, 19 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
