Meat Puppetry vs. Sock Puppetry edit

No, I don't think meat puppetry is considered as bad as sock puppetry. Both are bad, though.Arcayne 00:06, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Need Your Help edit

I'm at 300 (film) in the Discussion area, and I need to create a Temp page, with nice big, friendly letters, but I haven't your design skills. I know what to put into the page once its created; its just getting the page up that I'm hitting a wall. Can you lend a hand?Arcayne 21:22, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the welcome! edit

I am a new (or old turned new) contributor to Wikipedia. I used to write or edit back in 2001-2002, but that was a long time ago.

My current interests, as you see, are in Ancient Rome, specifically in the Middle Republic (circa 290 BC - 146 BC, technically, but my interests run a bit beyond that). I prefer to edit on biographies etc. Unfortunately, I no longer have access to a good university library as I did earlier, so have to depend largely on Internet-accessible resources along with the odd library book.

What I would love is feedback (from time to time - once a week, once a fortnight, once a month, whatever suits you) on the edits or new articles I do. In short, am I following Wikipedia's guidelines on NPOV etc, what do I need to change, etc? I know that some of my articles need more references, so am working on that.

If you choose to adopt me, I would be very grateful. [Should I remove that template, or is a new template added?]

EU Userbox edit

I am glad/impressed that you raised the question on the page which requests the deletion of the, frankly, inoffensive userbox. I hope they understand and are persuaded by the strong number of keeps there are on the page. Brylcreem2 20:00, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

re: your comment on my talk page edit

Hey, thanks for your recent comment, it was very kind. Unfortunately (or, er, fortunately, depending on how you look at it), I've only been active in Wikipedia for a few months, so if I were to go for admin (jebus help me), that would be forever from now. But, again, thanks for the support, no matter how far in the future it may be needed. Also, sorry to hear about the edit war that's soured your wiki experience; stupid battle scars, eh? Help! edit

I want to create a list that will mix numbers and letters together using the # function, and, if there is one, a letter-based listing system. E.G.

1.

   a
   b
   c

2.

Same as what is shown above, however, by using wiki markup!

Thanks,

Booksworm Talk to me! 17:54, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm afraid I don't know of any such system, and I don't think there is one. However, you may wish to use:
(a) sentence;<br>
(b) sentence;<br>
(c) sentence.

...which produces... (a) sentence;
(b) sentence;
(c) sentence.

The "<br>" code is the same as "<br />", which can be placed in an article automatically by clicking the down arrow button in the edit box toolbar, 8th from the right. This code is essential for the system to work, otherwise the next letter will not be placed one line down.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,
anthony[review]
