Co-op mentor
editHey John, my name is Jethro, a coordinator at The Co-op. Welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for making your profile! I want to introduce you to your mentor, Anne Delong, who can help you with your interest in writing content on Wikipedia. She will be along soon to get things started, but in the meantime, is there a new article you wanted to start, or perhaps there is an existing article you saw that you were interested in improving? Thanks a bunch, I, JethroBT drop me a line 18:45, 10 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hello, my name is John McIvor aka Blue Gnome Tree. I recieved your message; thank you! I joined Wikipedia because of my interest in vaporwave, a very new art/music culture that parodies the beginning of the digital age. It's a very hard genre to describe, however I'll tell you that the best way to get it is to look around a lot. It basically started as an internet joke on Tumblr, later becoming something diverse and artistically genuine. However, over the years it has evolved into something very different, and thus the page really needs to be fixed.
- I'm also trying to introduce pages for all the big labels and artists in the scene, as the list given only accounts for *a few* of the early artists, who only started the scene but never stayed around. The so-called "philosophy" that the wiki page associates with vaporwave (Marxism, punk music) is also pretty ridiculous, as most people in the scene just seem to create it for their own reasons. Although this isn't an appropriate source, here is a good guide I found to vaporwave by Oscob if that will help you understand what it is that I'm talking about: http://oscob.tumblr.com/vapeop
- If you could offer any suggestions to this draft I'm working on for a Dream Catalogue page (it's the biggest label in the scene), that would be much appreciated. I've already got a lot of stuff in there. Blue Gnome Tree (talk) 00:25, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Virtualife.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Virtualife.jpg, which you've attributed to available online. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Diannaa (talk) 03:27, 22 March 2015 (UTC)
