Hoiberg Tangent

Why are you removing the Hoiberg Tangent from other uses of tangents. These Hoiberg Tangents are being used in an Australian agricultural podcast and we are in the process of submitting the term Hoiberg Tangent to wikipedia so that it will be recognised as a valid phrase and use for other tangent references? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mattsy1927 (talkcontribs) 01:56, 5 November 2021 (UTC)

Mattsy1927 because there is no article for this it fails criteria for disambiguation. olderwiser 02:00, 5 November 2021 (UTC)

So once the article is accepted I can place it on here too and you will stop taking it off? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mattsy1927 (talkcontribs) 02:02, 5 November 2021 (UTC)

If there is an article with references from reliable sources and that is notable enough for an encyclopedia article, sure. olderwiser 02:11, 5 November 2021 (UTC)

Re:Current (disambiguation)

What was wrong with my edit on Current (disambiguation) that you reverted it? EddyVento (talk) 02:47, 24 November 2021 (UTC)

EddyVento, your edit made it look like there is a primary topic for the term and there is not. olderwiser 10:22, 24 November 2021 (UTC)

Firefly (disambiguation)

Bkonrad, I am wondering why in this edit, the wikilink for the author Philippa Dowding was removed for the entry Firefly (novel), a 2021 novel by Philippa Dowding? Normally, I would not have bothered you with this, but unfortunately, there was no edit summary and thought it would be best to check with you before adding similar entries in the future. Thank you and all the best! — WILDSTARTALK 14:26, 25 November 2021 (UTC)

WildStar each entry on a disambiguation page should have only one blue link. MOS:DABONE. olderwiser 14:28, 25 November 2021 (UTC)
Bkonrad ah.. ok... good to know! I am glad that I checked with you.  :) Thanks again! — WILDSTARTALK 14:40, 25 November 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Macamic (disambiguation)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Macamic (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Administrators will no longer be autopatrolled

A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:05, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

Rollover on Venus (disambiguation) page

Could you clarify the actual purpose of your rollover?

--NorthernTracker (talk) 01:22, 9 December 2021 (UTC)

Your edit piped the entries and added unnecessary extra links. See WP:MOSDAB for guidance on disambiguation page formatting or WP:DDD condensed version. olderwiser 01:35, 9 December 2021 (UTC)

Awesome ! Thanks for the info.

Cleanup

Hi, do you know which tag to use to cleanup a name page? Because Maiorana does have issues at present:
*The Wiktionary tag and hatnote cluttering the page
*Daniel's entry points to a redirect, which I believe is bad form?
*The decision reached at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 148#Giuliano Maiorana to leave Giuliano's nationality out of the lead also applying here? -- 2A02:C7F:38FC:A300:B451:5FD5:AC52:29A3 (talk) 09:42, 12 December 2021 (UTC)

I'm not sure what issues you're seeing. Many name pages include a link to Wiktionary and is not generally seen as being clutter. There's nothing incorrect about linking through a redirect if the target contains relevant information. If there is some concern about how Giuliano's nationality is displayed, you're welcome to edit the page. olderwiser 12:02, 12 December 2021 (UTC)

I think it does look cluttered in this instance, because it occupys most of the page along with a hatnote.
I looked at the Wiktionary link and the etymology is for the extinct mammal genus, not the surname, so what use is that link on a page about the name?
The conclusion with Giuliano was to "omit the nationality in the lead and refer to it in a separate sentence" but that can't be done on the name page and WP:APODESCRIPTOR says citizenship should come before occupation. -- 16:40, 12 December 2021 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7F:38FC:A300:98B4:1354:5AA:752E (talk)

your Wolverine edits

It's unclear to me why you removed the two Wolverine Blues references from the Wolverine disambiguation page. I see numerous other instances where "Wolverine" is joined to something unrelated to "Wolverine" as a single word name or name:

Wolverine Hotel (Detroit)
Wolverine World Wide
& lots of place names in which Wolverine is only part of the name, analogous in that respect to Wolverine Blues.

Please enlighten me as to the criteria used to delete the two Wolverine Blues. Larry Koenigsberg (talk) 06:25, 31 December 2021 (UTC)

Larrykoen I only examined that one section, but you're right, there are many entries on the page that could be culled as unambiguous partial title matches. olderwiser 11:20, 31 December 2021 (UTC)

Redirect from surname

Hi Bkonrad, please read the Template:R from surname I added: "It is used because one individual is the most likely topic sought by this surname".
Giuliano is the sole subject of a "Maiorana" Google search (of note). 13:59, 31 December 2021 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7F:38FC:A300:343E:F4BB:757A:641 (talk)

There are articles for other persons with the surname. I don't see any reason to presume one is primary. And in the event one is primary, you should move (not overwrite) the list. olderwiser 14:03, 31 December 2021 (UTC)

I'm not presuming, as I say, a Google search of "Maiorana" will only give you results about Giuliano, not about the other two stubs here on WP (the other's a redirect), which are at risk of getting deleted at some point anyway.
What do you mean by move the list? 14:37, 31 December 2021 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7F:38FC:A300:343E:F4BB:757A:641 (talk)

Sorry, but when I do a search for "Maiorana", there is nothing to suggest any one individual is primary. Giuliano doesn't even appear on the first page of results for me. olderwiser 15:13, 31 December 2021 (UTC)

Sorry, but according to Statcounter, between June 2019 and June 2020, Google saw 91.75% of the world's search share. Bing saw 2.75%.
I believe this is easily solved with a hatnote at the top of Giuliano's article directing to the few other instances. 2A02:C7F:38FC:A300:5955:3033:819B:750F (talk) 22:21, 31 December 2021 (UTC)

Then propose a move and establish consensus for your opinion. As it is there are at least five other articles which too much for a hatnote. olderwiser 22:42, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
