File permission problem with File:Ben Marks portrait against brick wall.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Ben Marks portrait against brick wall.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:36, 20 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

John Moehring edit

I added one quote and ref to Draft:John Moehring, and there's a book in at my local library that I'll take a look at tomorrow; according to Google Books, it might have content on him. If so, I'll add it to the draft. Schazjmd (talk) 00:59, 12 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! Belltown9 (talk) 01:27, 12 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Well, the book was a disappointment, but I'll keep looking. Schazjmd (talk) 17:36, 12 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for trying. I'm afraid the problem may be that although he is a historically important rock-poster artist, because he was in Seattle he did not get the publication attention that the guys in San Francisco did. The article I wrote on him for Collectors Weekly, [1], based on hours of interviews with him, may be the most definitive published work. I would be happy to add more from it in a subsequent edit, if that would help. Belltown9 (talk) 04:59, 13 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

I'm afraid you're right. I've requested Electrical banana: masters of psychedelic art through inter-library loan to see if he's in that one, but it will probably take several weeks for it to come in. Adding more from the interview won't help with WP:Notability, which is the issue at this point. Schazjmd (talk) 13:49, 13 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

References

I have that book at work and wrote about it here: [1] Will check it on Monday to see if there are any references to him. Tx. Belltown9 (talk) 15:13, 13 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Update: Just traded emails with "Electric Banana" author Norman Hathaway, asking if John is in his book. Here is what he said: "No, sadly he’s not. I have great admiration for him as a designer and as a person. Art Chantry has written about him on Facebook a few times, but not sure if that’s helpful. Only published piece I’m aware of is Scott’s book." Scott's book is already cited as a reference. I'll keep looking.... Belltown9 (talk) 16:03, 13 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Well, darn...sorry I couldn't be of more help. I'll keep looking as well. Schazjmd (talk) 16:22, 13 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

I just added the page numbers of Moehring images in Art of Rock and Split Fountain Hieroglyphics, and made both books references. Still looking for more sources. Belltown9 (talk) 20:08, 14 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
