Genuine (and useful?) intent

Regarding your revert of my edit to Oberlin College - My intent was to correct a grammar mistake (although widespread, “from 1960–1970” is obviously and logically incorrect: see, e.g., https://www.grammarly.com/blog/en-dash/, or https://www.dailywritingtips.com/use-a-dash-for-number-ranges/, or https://data.grammarbook.com/blog/apostrophes/writing-dates-and-times-2/#:~:text=Note%3A%20Do%20not%20use%20a,the%20first%20date%20or%20time.). Cheers --79.60.3.92 (talk) 05:26, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. Although your edit on Oberlin College was in good faith it changed the phrase from having a grammatical error to being incoherent. Which is why I reverted it and let you know.

I hope this doesn’t put you off continuing to edit on Wikipedia.

If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. (See section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
  • It is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. (See section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Wikipedia has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Wikipedia:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Thanks Victor. I was just working out how to do that! Sorry instead of creating a user talk page I managed to create an article

I don’t think it works on iPhone, which is what I use. :/ I do like editing HTML but this time it didn’t work. I will use my sandbox first in future!

Cheers. AussieWikiDan (talk) 09:23, 25 August 2020 (UTC)

It also works on Mobile if you use the desktop site (en.wikipedia.org instead of en.m.wikipedia.org) but you realy need to take care that you have a responsive skin selected. My suggestion is "timeless" but "monobook" probbably works as well. Victor Schmidt (talk) 10:57, 25 August 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice Victor. I didn’t think of trying that. I will look into it. :) AussieWikiDan (talk) 11:54, 25 August 2020 (UTC)

Hey thanks for that. I created it by accident. I added the tag but it didn’t get deleted. Do you know why? Thanks :) AussieWikiDan (talk) 02:16, 26 August 2020 (UTC)
