If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. Speedy deletion nomination of Ashesh Shah Photography LLP

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ashesh Shah Photography LLP, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Your username

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Corporate and industrial photography", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Jack Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a change of username, by completing this form, that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Vanjagenije (talk) 17:51, 2 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 23:25, 3 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

About your e-mail; pinging several admins

edit

Hi, Ashesh, thanks for your e-mail. You were told to change your name from User:Corporate and Industrial Photography because it wasn't compliant with our username policy. Names that sound like they represent a company simply aren't allowed. I believe the administrator, Céréales Killer, who allowed you to change it to Ashesh Shah Photography made a mistake, as that name also sounds more like a company than an individual. And sure enough that too has been blocked, by another admin, User:RHaworth. I'm very sorry you have been messed about like that; it certainly wasn't your fault. You don't seem to be very aware, in your e-mail, that you're still blocked from editing — all you write about is your article — but the block is of course the first problem. I'd like to address it, and unblock you with a new name, if neither of the admins I have pinged above objects. How about it, guys? I'm not sure I'm doing the right thing in offering to unblock Ashesh and allowing him to change his name, since he hasn't given us any reason to believe he's interested in "making useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation", as the block template says. However.. I was sorry to see the way he was caught between two admins, first blocked, then allowed to change his name to another name that wasn't appropriate either, then blocked for that. I'd like to make amends on behalf of Wikipedia, if that's OK with you two.

However, I can't in any case change the username to Ashesh Shah, as you have suggested, Ashesh, because that account already exists, created in 2014 and pretty obviously not the same person. (I just blocked it, for being an advertising-only account, but that doesn't mean you can use the account.) Please state below another username that you'd like to use, and with the agreement of the other two, I will then be able to unblock you with that name, provided it's policy-compliant.

But I won't undelete or otherwise handle your article Ashesh Shah Photography LLP. Not only was it written in a promotional style (as you say, you might be able to change that), but it lacked proper references. You can't just list awards without evidence, for instance. And, more importantly, you are strongly discouraged from writing about yourself. Again, as I said here, see Wikipedia is not about YOU. You shouldn't be doing it at all. You'll have to see if you can persuade the deleting administrator, User:DGG, to allow you to work on the article. DGG, please see what you think. I'll leave it up to you.

Summing up, then, Ashesh: there's nothing much you can do right now, other than suggest a new username; for the rest you'll have to wait until the admins I have pinged, hopefully all three of them, comment here. Bishonen | talk 18:37, 6 October 2016 (UTC).Reply

Sometimes, I allow the renaming a little too fast because in French Wikipedia, we have not that hard policies for naming accounts. If I make a mistake, do not hesitate to warn me and ask the user to change again. I am not a number (talk) 18:46, 6 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
Right. I did ping you, but before I could do anything else, RHaworth had already blocked the second name. But it's really the article, now deleted (properly so), that's the problem. I'm delighted to be able to shunt that on to User:DGG. Bishonen | talk 18:54, 6 October 2016 (UTC).Reply

Status and Advice

edit

There are two conditions that must both be met for there to be an article:
I. The subject of the article must be "notable" in the sense of being sufficient important for a world-wide encyclopedia like Wikipedia --in this case the relevant standard is WP:CREATIVE<
II. The article must be written in a descriptive non promotional way, avoiding the sort of thing one would want to say to prospective clients.
The deleted version met neither of these requirements. This is not unusual when a person tries to write an article about their own business. My advice is to work on other topics. If your business becomes sufficiently important , someone else will write the article. DGG ( talk ) 03:19, 7 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
